If you could have a superpower, what would it be? I'll start: to be invisible.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be? I'll start: to be invisible.
If you could have a superpower, what would it be? I'll start: to be invisible.
To be able to talk to animals. Really just so I can talk to my dog who is losing the ability to walk, so me and her vet can help her; where it hurts, are the drugs helping. So I know exactly what she needs and where she wants to go when she's barking at me for help getting up and walking.
So I can explain to my boy dog why we don't go on walks as often or as far, why he can't rough house with her anymore.
:(
Technopathy. Being able to sense and manipulate electronics/electricity flows to "hack" computers and less smart hardware by waving my hands and "wishing" the outcome I wanted would make my life so much easier.
I could charge a good rate for my ability and my learnt knowledge as well take down huge tech companies.
This, but with selective abstraction.
I could just manipulate raw electricity signals, but if i need to i can see the flow of assembler instructions running through the CPU, or even the same code in some high-level language modeled on my brain pattern.
As en electronics engineer I'm going to "Yes But..." this and say that the lower the voltage/current you're trying to manipulate the more concentration it requires to do it without over-voltaging the components you're trying to manipulate and frying the circuitry.
So whilst this would be possible you'd have to:
With enough practice and meditation you get a "feel" for the instructions and can do this but it takes time. I think this is fair as once you've learnt a CPU architecture most of the machine instructions are the same and it's just a matter of getting them to run in the right order.
This way you don't start out overpowered and there's a high skill ceiling.
(I may or may not be writing a book around this already and have thought about it a lot haha)
Is third person empath a thing? Like being able to have what one person is experiencing be felt emotionally by another person? I would do that, then really fuck up the day of an ICE agent.
That would be awesome!
like deanna troi. empath seems to be a weaker form of telepathy, just no mind reading or if powerful enough mind control, (induce sleep, paralysis,,,etc)
extreme cum
how extreme?
Like 3.6 roentgen.
The ability to manipulate probability.
Get the green light, getting you some where on time. Somehow manage to tickets to a sold out concert. Boss just extended a deadline to allow you to get the work done. Score the prefect seats on an airplane. No delays when taking a train.
scarlett witch and dominos mutant ability is probability manipulation, i think thats what makes her chaos magic so more stronger because of her mutant abilities
Teleportation, no distance limit, and I can take others with me. For accuracy, I can "see" where I'm about to teleport to. First, I'm going to explore other planets with life, venturing into the universe for a few weeks. Then I'm going to move a few people off planet. Don't worry, I'll let them bring their money.
My family is full of mental health issues.
I'd like to fix that for them and myself, and for all the other sufferers out there.
Superhero ability? Healing. By far.
telepathy, psionic effect on the brain does that in variations of it.
Basic telekenisis. I want to be able to move object(s) with my mind. This can include me, also giving me a base level of flight.
It would just be so convenient. Nothing is ever out of reach again.
Gaining energy going social activities not losing it
Photosynthesis
The correct answer is omnipotence
I would like the ability to remove other people's superpowers, please, and thank you
I would want to be able to switch bodies with people like in Freaky Friday, but I would want to control who and when.
Not one that I think I would actually want, but one I've thought a lot about is absolute bodily autonomy in the same way that you can control any aspect of your body consciously but without deliberate thought then it'll default back to unconscious control. Want to grow taller? Start kicking that system back into drive. Want to lose weight? Start absorbing energy less efficiently or burning more calories fruitlessly. Have a random pain? Start to monitor that area and sensing for any particular anomalies.
If the control can go all the way down to the microscopic level then you'd be a walking advancement factory for every medical field. The primary issue would be trying to make practical recreations of the medicines and procedures you'd help create, and even then you could try bioengineering cells to recreate your medicines and procedures. You'd also likely be able to effectively never age by correcting the errors in your cell reproduction. With enough time and effort you could probably spawn a clone of yourself to go out and continue to help others.
If you allow the caveat that this also works on anyone/anything that you can touch, then the limit for what you can cure or at least aid with is bound only by what you can touch, analyze, and solve in time.
Superspeed- quick commute, get chores done fast, visit the world
Local area forced telepathic group chat - everyone in range can hear the surface thoughts of everyone else in range all at once
Ability to give people taste buds wherever I think is funniest at the time
I want to know how and what to say to other people to convince them to do what I ask. So like not full manipulation or mind reading but like social engineering turned up to 100!
To always have the right amount of change in my pocket
Don't really want to be rich, just always have enough
immortality but I can die if I want to.
To be able to create any art I have in my imagination in seconds exactly how I imagine. Videos, photos, sculptures, etc.
Shapeshifting would be fun, that or telekinesis
You invisible? Or you AND your clothes invisible?
Otherwise the in between phases can be awkward.
Also practicably unusable during winter.
I'd like to be able to touch people and feel their deepest pain and just heal that away with a compassionate thought.
It would be hilarious to use this on people who are hostile; healing the part of them which compensates for the absence of love, to remove their drive, and render them useless.
Imagine Trump feeling shame, or remorse. I think this may be an S tier power in disguise:
Dictator Disarmament
That's why needing to touch them would be a requirement. To avoid the temptation of abuse. Healing has to be consented to.
I would like to know which scratch off lottery tickets are winners and for how much. If I had that power I could either go buy a couple of multi-million dollar winners and live a life of leisure or I could just perpetually pick up hundred dollar winners that are cashed out in the store and essentially go off the grid.
if you watched 4400, theres a little girl that can predict outcomes, after given the abilties by humans of the future, and the aunt was taking advantage of her to win lotteries.
invulnerable. If you can't hurt me you can't stop me from making a point and swaying opinions.
Shapeshifting has always sounded like it would be a trip. Teleportation or similar also sounds super fun, and could have actual practical applications.
I guess you didn't set a limit on how OP it could be, so I could just go for genie wish granting. Although, I can only imagine how zero challenge on literally any activity would fuck with my mental wellbeing.
Not flying, super strength or laser vision. Too much like tools we already have.
Immunity to procrastination
Now you have A type personality and can't stop until everything is perfect.
Timelord
The ability to memorize and recreate any object at will, including people. I won't have to worry about wealth, and can offer my services for all sorts of purposes. Mamdani wants to simultaneously be mayor AND run for president? Eh presto, two Mamdanis!
The ability to convince people even the hardliners.
Oh mine is very simple and not much to ask at all: I just want pure, unlimited, godlike omnipotence.
I promise to use it in every irresponsible way imaginable.
Hmm, reminds of this part of the Narcissistic Personality Inventory
At least you would be using it. (Ahem)
Objectively the correct answer.
We allready have one Stephen Fry
You would definitely enjoy Preacher. Graphic novels are great, show is better than ok.
Guy ends up gaining "the word of God" as an ability
Excellent!
Be able to do stuff, at will.
!adhd@lemmy.dbzer0.com is leaking again
Sounds op af
I'm dying of laughter. God lol.
My answer to this question is always teleportation, including my clothes and anyone I’m touching (and their clothes). And the ability to not appear inside solid objects. No more traffic. No more passports or visas. No more long multi-hour drives or long haul flights.
You know the movie jumper?
Have fun figuring out the point of reference of your new powers. It would be hillarious if it was not the nearest grvitational well. Earth moves, the sun moves, our galaxy moves. Watch it be not the most obvious thing, and you teleport into empty space.
This flaw in teleportation logic hinges on the assumption that there is an absolute reference frame- which as far as I'm aware there isn't. There is real science behind teleportation, and from what I've seen the frame of reference of the origin is what determines the endpoint. If you COULD manipulate the frame of reference as well, you could teleport a small rock an inch forward, but with the frame of reference of a near lightspeed object to create a crazy projectile.
Basically, you'd still need to follow the rules of conservation of momentum and energy, or it could be broken.
…and that always comes up as a response. Ok fine, I’ll add another line to the fine print: The ability to teleport at the exact place I want to be. If you want to counter that still, then make it places I’ve been to before. It will limit my destinations, but it still saves me time and effort. I’ve never been to France, but I’ve been to Germany, so that still reduces my travel from almost a day of flying and layovers to a train ride.
at least in x-men they have limitations to that, where they also have added ability to sense where they are teleporting is filled space or not. not in the comics but blink the portal creator can sense dimensional distorstions too.
Bend probability to my will.
Example: Jump out of a plane (see a bowl of petunias and a sperm whale on the way down), bend probability so that against all odds; I start to fly.
Is there a monkey's paw clause in this? Does probability snap back like an elastic on the things you aren't focusing on?
Well, a high probability doesn't mean it will happen, and a low probability doesn't mean it won't.
(A tossed coin that shows head the first 5 times and after that it always shows up tails still has a probability of 0% head and 100% tails, assuming you don't know which coin toss this is.)
There's definitely an inherent paw clause to this power...unintended consequences galore!
Probability has more than one side, bend it one way and its also being bent away from another.
like scarlet witch, and domino, they both manipulate probabilities.
I would choose this too. Probability that I'll win lottery next week would be nice to adjust. Also probability of getting sick/staying alive. And as I'm (allegedly) slowly getting older: Probability that I'll wake up tomorrow well rested in a good shape and nothing hurts.
The power to instantly, constantly, automatically, and effortlessly transmute the bone marrow of every single individual on Earth who is being harmful to humanity's progress and wellbeing (fascists, billionaires, global warming denialists, mimes, and so on) into molten lead.
I’ve always liked the idea of time manipulation- stopping, starting, speeding up, slowing down, rewinding time. It has a lot of uses like giving me as much time as I need to get ready in the morning and doing good in the world in ways I won’t mention.
This is probably the best one.
To never have to worry about the basic necessities of life 🥹
And the same for everyone else.
The power in Jumper would be damn legit. Teleportation.
Criminally under rated movie.
That is still one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies. It's so good! It got so much flak but I really enjoyed it. The concept was very interesting and I really wanted to see where it could've gone. I felt like they could've done better in the movie but still, I'll take what I can get.
I always wondered why the jumpers were even struggling against the paladins, though. I mean... they could jump literally anywhere in the world instantly. How are the paladins even able to catch up at all even with the tech they had? It was ridiculous. They also didn't use guns? I didn't get it, lol.
Being able to stop time. Unlimited sleep.
Make sure to add that you don't age or need food/water/oxygen while time is stopped, otherwise this is more of a curse
Right. That'd be a nice bonus.
Cashback was a good take on this.
Unlimited do overs. I can save, load and redo any point of my life at will. Caveat, death grants me access to the load game function.
I want a familiar named Git that obeys me.
Hey! That annoying guy that you hate speaking with is coming towards you
Git, push!
Would you look at that! What an amazing thing
Git, pull!
Oooh. What a great idea!
Git, commit!
There’s no way I said that, you must be remembering wrong
Git, diff!
So many possibilities
Edit: bonus points if you guess what I’d be stashing all the time
Shapeshifter: it’s broken as hell if you take it to the molecular level. Shapeshift into something that can fly, into a very thin transparent film on the ceiling of a room, into something which can withstand great temperatures or bullets, hell, you can even shapeshift into something that photosynthesizes.
Monkey's paw version: you're a shapeshifter like Odo in DS9. You have to consciously model every aspect of your form. Imagine the most detailed image of a human you can in your mind. That's the fidelity with which your form will be represented. You can only take on a form that is as detailed as your understanding and perception of an object is. Your form is more of a human-shaped animate object than an actual human being.
I want time travel like a video game or Git handles it. I want to be able to save and load timelines.
In order of preference:
Immortality is such a mixed bag depending on the exact mechanics behind it.
You simply won't die of old age, but can be killed by anything that would kill a normal person? Probably fine.
Almost any other interpretation opens the doors for some absolutely horrific states of being that you're just unable to escape from.
I wanna teleport things. I'll use this to make money, among other things.
Normally I would say teleportation or the ability to fly but in 2025 I think I could solve some big problems with mind control.
Every poop is a no-wiper.
It's called fiber supplements
My superpower choice is to convert all of BlueberryWalnut's no-wipers into butt mud like wet red Georgia clay.
The ability to reset my life from and resume from any "save point".
For the purposes of this power there are two kinds of "save points":
Why? Who hasn't indulged in the what-ifs of life? What if I can revisit certain points in my life and relive those what-ifs myself?
Ooh, you should read Replay by Ken Grimwood.
A one of it's kind books too.
Thanks for the recommendation!
Are your save states unlimited or do you have only 3 slots?
It's infinite, though it'd also be intriguing to imagine them being limited to a number of slots (3, 15, etc).
Teleportation. Most superpowers would be either useless on a day-to-day basis or - as another commenter suggested - would make you too inhuman to continue to have meaningful interpersonal relations with other normal humans.
And it would allow you to have a croissant in Paris for breakfast, spend the morning strolling along a beach in the Caribbean, pop across to a great barbecue place in Texas for lunch, pass the afternoon exploring the ruins of Pompei before an evening meal of scallops in Hobart. Even just not worrying about the daily commute, always being able to 'port home to use your own toilet during the day, just mundane stuff like that would be grand.
depends on which kind of teleportation, interdimensional or matter transporting in the same reality. Nightcrawlers and azazel teleportaiton is all interdimensional, so more advanced(at least azazels teleportaiton is more advanced than nightcrawlers, because he can teleport anywhere even if he never been there. Or like dofp apocalypse, teleportation bubble forms and it teleports you to another location, cons is it takes a long time to form it, but benefits from teleport multiple people without any straining.
I feel like what some of you guys miss. Here is understanding what makes life fun. Certain superpowers would make life criminally boring and the goal would be to get power so that you can do what you want with your life, try different things out, be safe and secure, but still have a life that has meaning.
If you are too overpowered or have things that allow you to see way past what being human is, then you'd be stuck all alone looking at humans that look like ants to you and you'd be bored out of your skull. I kind of feel like that's what Dr. Manhattan was except I think the reality would be worse.
You have to look at what phase two of this super power would be. I kind of like the save point one or something that gives you control to do what you want, but you still have to deal with the consequences. That way you gain a lot of control over your life, but you still have to live it with consequences. It would kind of be like winning the lottery. It would be turning the video game on easy mode, but not making it so easy you don't want to play.
Shapeshifting so I can impersonate people. I love Mystique in the X-men.
mystiques shapeshift seems weaker, than let say changelings they can turn into anything, even fire or reflective surfaces(DS9) and turn thier body into weapons, also immunity to telepathy, also the technobabble goes when the changeling shapeshifts, they move mass to a pocket dimension, or store energy to change to various forms.
"Shapeshifting."
"blahaj.zone"
Checks out.
I want to shapeshift too
Super Siri that can answer any questions.
"How do I build a time machine?"
"Is there any hidden treasure around here?"
"How do I make myself immortal?"
Really close to mine: reach into my pocket and pull out whatever I want to. Time machine? Treasure? Functional immortality tied to my intent to live pill? Pants with a huge pocket so I can pull out this big thing that wouldn't fit in my normal pocket?
I enjoy the fact that at least one person was so offended by my idea that they had to downvote me.
Egotistical maniac that I am, I like to think they were enraged that I came up with the idea before them.
Or that they hate Apple so much that the mention of any of their products sends them into a blind rage.
But as to your comment. Wouldn't you get burns from all the pizzas in your pocket? And wouldn't Hackers - era Angelina Jolie suffocate in there?
Time travel, not to change anything, just to be able to experience things that no longer exist or relive memories.
You have died from dysentery.
My farts are now filled with ultra potent sex pheromones. My farts are usually quiet, and usually no one notices them. Time to reap the wind!
My farts are usually quiet, and usually no one notices them
Famous last words
Nothing beats accidentally farting at the dmv and getting swamped by a couple grannies in line next to you
To revisit events in my past while retaining all knowledge. I wouldn't want to alter the main timeline, but there are so many things I'd like to experience again and experiment with doing things differently. And some deep regrets I'd like a conplete do-over on. Maybe even live some "branches of alternate lives" for years if I wanted.
Voluntary Immortal. Meaning I can die if I want to badly enough. I'd like to just observe all the remaining time humans are a thing without having to worry about mortal body maintenance and food.
Do you really wanna see that? Could be unbearably sad.
For reasons unknown to me, I still want to even though it's guaranteed to be.
But you'll still experience hunger and pain from the poor maintenance.
like painkiller Jain, shes can voluntarly turn off her immortality.
Healing powers 100%
But if I'm being selfish/lazy, I'd copy Ezra from Fairy Tail, she can swap out her armor and weapons instantly. I'd use it to always have a rain coat, umbrella. Fall over in bed and be instantly be PJs, wake up stay and in comfy cloths right until I get to work. Climb up a ladder and never have to go back down for a tool. Spill food all over, and instantly have a new shirt. Get mugged and swap over to appropriate armor and a heavy assault weapon.
Omnipotence or time manipulation.
The ability to break things down into bricks of their atomic elements. Imagine what could be done with waste and recycling, especially tech recycling. You could make money easy.
If you were willing, I think you could create world peace (not absolute, but you could end wars if dickhead political leaders suddenly became chunks of carbon and other elements).
You would have to be very skilled, though. You would be the replicator from Star Trek, but do you really know how to assemble complex substances and even living things from their constituent molecules?
I'm not concerned about reconstructing anything other than bricks of pure individual elements.
Adaptability.
Get a cut? Your skin adapts to no longer have that happen. Get shot? You’re now bulletproof. Cancer? Your body adapted before it could even get slightly serious. Muscles that build faster without needing to do much more than lift a heavy weight a few times.
Saw it in a book called Superhuman way back in the day. Cool concept.
The ability to steal anywhere from 1-10 hours of sleep from someone I touch per 24 hours
even better manifestations of your astral projections, while sleeping.
Sorry to take this to a dark place, but I'd have to say the ability to cause people to die in a way of my choosing, just by thinking it.
I think a lot of folks who say they wish they could be invisible don't realize how horrible it'd actually be without secondary superpowers. The reason you don't currently fall over and you're able to grab what you're looking at is because you can see your own body and gain a sense of direction. But if you're invisible... how do you know where your feet are going to land exactly? How do you know how far your arm is from that book you're trying to pick up?
It'd be pretty hellish to constantly trip over yourself and not be able to balance yourself at all! This kind of caveat applies to a lot of superpowers, like super strength. Sure, you're strong enough to lift that car, but your bones and flesh aren't. They'll be crushed under the weight and you'll have a big problem, lol.
That said... superpower? I'll go with omnipotence. It's always my answer to any "if you could have X, what would it be?", omnipotence!! It's basically EVERYTHING that I could ever possibly want packed into one. Imagine the sort of life you could have. The sort of freedom. What could you do, create, see, experience, feel. I do daydream about it more than I should.
"But if you’re invisible… how do you know where your feet are going to land exactly? How do you know how far your arm is from that book you’re trying to pick up?"
We do have a specific sense for where our body parts are relative to eachother and most people can stand or walk perfectly fine with their eyes closed. So what you're describing as a neccesary secondary superpower is something most people already have. Could be a little clumsy at first but I imagine you'd get the hang of it pretty quickly considering how functional blind people can be.
To make people know stuff and experience stuff.
Then I'm just gonna travel the world to get people educated, see the other side of the story, think independently, etc. Like I think those are if you have the experience of it once then you know how to do it on your own.
There will be all those mind control moral dilemma of free will and bias and stuff I think rising up o along the way, so that could be the complicated part, the self-justification of power. I don't really care for being just though so I think it's just going to be all jolly.
I think with that we should be able to get some people to stop fighting and be happy at least. Probably make some part of the society more functional as usually the system always break at some point but good men along makes stuff work. Though it's another jump from educated men to good men :)
Healing. Can you imagine how happy the world would be? Parents with a sick child can take them to the park for the first time. Bed ridden people can see the world with their own eyes as opposed to a screen. Despair and grief would change to happiness and serenity. I'd be crazy busy but if it means that everyone everywhere is guaranteed to live a long, happy life, I'd gladly pay the price.
I don't want to be truly immortal, but if I could be like I am now for a few hundred years that would be pretty cool.
Yeah, be immortal, with an off switch.
Few hundred years later, "I'm good! See ya!"
Definitely the ability to speak/communicate deeply with animals.
Telepathy.
I really want to know the truth of what people think of me. Especially these "blood relatives".
Why do you care, and what would you do with that information?
Understanding them better to make better informed decisions on whether to rebuild relationships or just burn bridges.
I bet you you don't.
Sounds very psychosis inducing.
Imagine knowing every time the person who cared for you most in the world almost slipped up because they were exasperated with you. And there's no real way to know when it's a bad time to read their mind, if it isn't always on. I think it would be hard to be really close to anyone if you could read their mind and they couldn't stop you.
I already have trust issues, I automatically distrusts everyone and assume they have a hidden malicious motive. Knowing addition info would be an advantage.
I'm even suspecting my "parents" are not my parents, that's how fucked up my thought process is. Having mindreading powers would help a lot, I could just ask a question then I know if they are telling the truth.
I have no one to trust right now. Just gimme this power.
The ability to phase thru anything, passive ghostlike body. Basically walk into any bank and walk thru the vault snatching whatever, bullets pass right thru you, but you can still hold things to deal damage back!
Then take out most of the world governments at an unstoppable slow-walk with a shit-eating grin and declare the new post-scarcity world ready for action without anymore billionaires or megacorps.
So you phase, then the absence of meaningful matter to stand on means you are pulled to the centre of earth's gravity well.
You now can't unphase without frying in the liquid core.
the wierd trope about phasing in media, is your bottom of your feet doesnt phase at all, they give some kind of technobabble explanation, that your interactions with the feet is "normal as its not phased out like the rest of your body or something about your molecules is is normal interacting witht he forces of the earth. there was one incident in one of the batman shows? i believe where a person that can phase had some kind of accident and phase right through the floor and to the earth center, and dying.
Rapid healing. Living for several hundred years would be nice. Change my carrier once every 20 years. This is the selfish choice.
The superpower that I feel could help more people is superspeed. First on my list is a visit to all dictators with a warning to knock if off.
Telepathically make people shit their pants from anywhere in the world.
I like the cut of your jib.
Super man's powers
To know how my actions will affect the future and the brainpower to process the shear endless possibilities. The longer the time frame is the more powerful it gets.
Could go a bit like a butterfly effect: I know if I get a croissant this morning the store will run out and the assistant of some hedge fond guy won't be able to get him one. So, he's grumpy all day and crashes the marked.
More direct: I know how I have to throw the dice to win at the casino, which numbers I have to pick for roulette or the lottery.
Wandering into Fort Nox because I know when and where the guards are.
Brute forcing every password with the first try.
Knowing basically everything because, let's say the time frame is a week, there's a future in which I choose to read any one book, article or paper in that time and I know what's is in it. Everything not written I can get out of people. Get it through asking them, drug, seduce, or torture them without actually doing any of it because it's enough that there's a future where I could do that. Of cause I could just guess and see in which future I was correct.
With a timeframe of a year I could tell scientist what they would have achieved in that year with unlimited funding and leapfrog any discovery that way. Which could get continued ad nauseam, day one I tell them what they would have achieved after a year, day two I tell them what they would have achieved after a year with the knowledge of day one, etc.
Would make for a very boring super hero movie though. Solving all the problems before anyone even knew that there's one. Dispose all the problematic world leaders without getting caught and pulling all the money out of the stock market to solve world hunger.
You wouldn't wander into Fort Knox because you'd already know what we store there these days. It's not where we store the gold anymore. I seriously doubt you'd want the stuff that does get stored there these days.
Have the ability to make people poop on command. Can be great for helping and for being bad.
I may be really weird for thinking about this despite a lot of people throughout humanity thinking about it, but the ability to manipulate someone's age, mentally and/or physically. I mean things like turning someone who is robbing me into a child who isn't strong enough to hold the gun or making an absolute drama queen who peaked in high school have their body match their mental maturity.
Before anyone calls it weird, you name a major animated cartoon that aired on Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, or Disney and there's a good chance they have what I consider the stock "age regression/progression" episode. For whatever reason those episodes really stuck with me considering I'm thinking about them to this day.
you name a major animated cartoon that aired on Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, or Disney and there’s a good chance they have what I consider the stock “age regression/progression” episode.
Phil from the Future!! First thing that came to mind for me, lol. They had a piece of tech that could age you up or age you down, and the main character, Phil, was hit by it. Turned into a total kid. One of the funniest episodes for me back in the day... I miss the Disney Channel. :(
Hell, Star Trek had that episode!
Despite not seeing that episode, I think I know which one you are talking about because of TV Tropes. I think they listed an episode plot under the fountain of youth trope page about the crew of whichever iteration of Star Trek being sent to an alternate dimension where time moves backwards. They may have had others as well listed, but I can't remember since it's been a while since I've checked that page.
A lot of people are saying immortality, but keep in mind that doesn't necessarily include being unaging or invincible. You could age into a decrepit mummy or break your spine and live your life as a paraplegic.
Immortality with an opt-out option as CGPgrey put it.
I would want Susan Storm/Violet Parr's invisibility/force feild thing. You can kind of fly with it
You know how some people have photographic memory and memorize everything they hear once for their entire lives?
I want the other side of that coin where I can look at something or think about anything for a while and immediately understand entirety of it.
Not formal understanding with all the equations and chemistry at atomic level, but more like someone explaining the equations and chemistry of it to me should "click" intuitively.
It would be really fun to go around learning random subjects.
Flying, i always had a fantasy about just beibg able to fly superman style, fast, slow or just floating
Teleportation from Jumper or portal powers from He who fights with monsters.
attractive
It's not flashy (i.e. for a comicbook) but my superpower would be eternal health. The constant death/birth cycle is like resetting the population's knowledge every 75 years.
Yes, it would be great to have eternal life.
One trip time travel to a specific date with no new knowledge other than the details of one specific event.
I would like to have the death note for a moment. Just to write down a few names.
Assuming I can't have omnipotence I'm gonna go for the power to read minds when I want to. It'd be majorly helpful.
Telepathy might be useful, but over time it seems like it would just get very depressing.
I feel like it would start that way, but hopefully over time you'd realize most people have crap random thoughts, and realize how many people find ways to do well in spite of them
Kira-esque powers, easily.
Major Kira power?
Time manipulation.
one thing i noticed is certain entities are immune to it like "gods in shows, angels demons, supernatural entities" im guessing they are exist "beyond time, outside the spacetime"
I mostly just don’t want to wait for elevators, the microwave, or sit through commercials, so I don’t think that should be too big of an issue.
Flying, no question.
The ability to force any two conscious beings to feel empathy. Like in the 2015 novel ::: spoiler Title Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky :::.
Power to change the reality just by imagination. This will probably feel like a cheat code
Yeah, this is pretty close to my answer, which was omnipotence. Having complete control over anything and everything just by your own imagination would be my answer any day of the week! I'd make myself functionally immortal and indestructible as the first thing I'd do, then probably start building universes of my own.
Full control over almost any common element works. Congrats you now have infinite energy and also likely flight because of it (stand on thing you control, make thing you control fly with you on it)
I've always loved the gadgeteer/super-genius trope. Iron Man, the Tinker types from Worm, Girl Genius's Sparks, etc. I always found something appealing to the idea that they can do anything eventually, but they have to work their way to it - they have to think, put in effort, adapt to pitfalls, then get an awesome payoff.
They all seem to have something they specialize in too; so for a specialty, I'll go for movement enhancements. Flight packs, powered exoskeletons, custom vehicles, etc.
For me, probably to always have the right thing to say for every situation. Doesn't have to be the truth, just so long as I can convince the other side or win an argument. It's as close as I'd get to mind control maybe without the glowy eyes and actual powers.
Always have the best answer to a question or situation immediately at hand.
Includes questions like "what is the right username and password for this device" or "what are next weeks lottery numbers".
I would like to having healing powers of some kind.
I would like to become Gigalomaniak, and let my delusions become reality. So basically reality warping, there are many fun things to do with such ability.
The strongest, perfect gravity control. Want to teleport, just bend time and space around you. Want to fly just adjust your gravitational pull. Want to destroy stuff, blackhole goes puff. Time travel, maybe possible aswell. That said it is the hardest to use by far and without perfect control, you will most likely kill yourself or all.
like graviton, from AOS, the villian was able to do that, minus the space time bending, which is probably too advanced even for him.
If you were invisible, would food matter that was inside your body but not of your body be invisible, or would it appear to float in mid air? Also, at what point would it count as processed enough to be part of you and invisible? E.g. would elements of the blood be visible; what about fecal matter? Or is the cut-off when these things pass through the ring of your mouth and sphincter?
shield projection, especially adding "layers" to reinforce it, plus the ability to use that shield to cloak and absorb energy and redirct(like naraku), and use it to change form into "energy weapons", other than that another one is reality warping, dimensional manipulation, or pocket dimension creation(which absorption power also complements), and shielding thoughts from telepaths.
Why would you want to be invisible? Is there any non-creepy use case?
Theft. So much theft. Also getting out of awkward situations, doing easterbunny/santa stuff for your kids, Helping a friend ace a test by feeding them answers, and theft because i would be stealing so much.
Flying
In order of preference:
The ability to travel through time (and change things) as I wish, and to also have a basic understanding the way those changes will impact the (relative to the time I am currently in) future. None of that "Earth's in the wrong place, you die in the vacuum of space" bullshit.
The ability to bring people back from the dead and have them be healthy and happy
Shape shifting
Premonition.
precognition, also with the ability to percieve non linear time, aka backwards in time, and alternate futures.
Depends on what's available. Regeneration would probably be it. Wouldn't say no to something stronger though.
...why do you want to be invisible? Most of the time, you can put on business casual, smile and wave and you will vanish in plain sight. Or a construction helmet and reflective vest and a clipboard.
To hide from danger
Being able to manipulate time in any way I like: make time go faster, slower, backwards and stopping time. Even time travel, though that's arguably a different superpower, but IMO it still falls under manipulating time.
Teleportation for sure.
I don't think I can ask for immortality or close to it since I already had kids, so I would like a magic purse - the ability to pull whatever I need out of a pocket universe and store whatever I need there. Or if I can't have the stuff, then to be able to create space where it doesn't exist at least, to store things in and pull them out. I would probably use it for crime, yes. But also just so much easier if I can always only get what I am reaching for, but don't have to organize or store it IRL. Like having stuff without having stuff.
Dr X level Psionic powers, mind reading and mind control
must also complement by having telekinesis too. advanced telekinesis when it evolves (like with apocalypse, he can manipulate atoms)
The ability to create black holes. Just wanna fuck around and find out.
is reality and dimensional warping, plus other various abilities associated with it.
By now? To have peace of mind.
Immortality, I'll get around to whatever I need to eventually.
Assuming it's generally not too OP powers, shapeshifting for sure.
To fly, be a speedster or teleport would be cool, you know to spend the weekend somewhere else and enjoy life a little more without spending lots in travelling.
Great!
Time manipulation, easy! I have so many projects and my work schedule is all over the place.
I'll take time control. Stop time or slow it so much it might as well be stopped.
You might want to clarify that invisibility power. If you're only invisible to visible light, you'll be kind of annoyed later when you're setting off IR motion detectors and showing up on IR cameras. Also, if you're invisible to the whole EM spectrum you'll be immune to dangerous radiation.
Teleport. See the world, visit everywhere, without enduring planes, trains, cars , nipping home for a quick 15minute alone time and being able to sleep in my own bed every night.
This is the best super power hands down. If you get a space suit, you could even jump to the moon. And in a single night every despot and dictator could be dealt with.
Hmm. good thought.
This is the one. I hate driving, so taking the middle man out of traveling would make my life so much better. Being able to visit my family and then come back home to sleep? That would be the dream
Also true!
Would be so cool to have personal sanctuary in the middle of the wilderness to relax at without the worry of how to I get back.
YES!
