2024 Election, If Only Men Voted.
2024 Election, If Only Men Voted.
2024 Election, If Only Men Voted.
That's wild
Non-black folk in the US—your reality has been propagandised
Propaganda works.
(Happy cake day)
I'm a white man in a rural area in the south. Black folks who don't really know me often seem surprised when they hear me say something anti-Trump. And honestly, I understand completely.
Same, but what was really strange for me was hearing pro trump rhetoric come black men here.
Stupidity transcends all other qualities.
Know a black guy that voted for Trump, his kids basically don't want anything to do with him now.
Same, same.
Do you have any insights on how that works? Is it just something rather gets passed down from parent to child? Because I would assume the education system would try to tilt everyone towards the Republican side there (I'm not from the US)
I have anecdotes, but no specific data or insights, I'm only speaking about my experience.
In some respects, politics is a lot like religion. Just like most Christians were raised in Christian families and most Muslims were raised in Muslim families, it seems like most Republicans were raised in conservative families while most Democrats were raised in liberal families. Obviously this isn't a 100% one-to-one correlation, and there's a lot of nuance as well as a plethora of exceptions.
As far as education, I only have my perspective of the school system I went to. Overall, I think that most of the teachers were very respectful and balanced whenever political ideology came up. As a kid I wouldn't have noticed it, but by my teens I was pretty observant. There were definitely several notable exceptions, mostly conservative teachers showing bias and attempting to influence us, unprompted. I think the most "liberal" ideology I was exposed to was the one high school teacher who strongly advocated for LGBT folks, but that was generally in reaction to students' homophobic actions or words. Overall, i would say that the education system pushed religious ideology more than political, but of course, it being the south, conservatism and Christianity are practically one in the same.
Remember when Democrats came away from 2024 trying to blame black men?
Pepperidge Farms remembers..
They failed and blamed BIPOC for their loss while white men and women are why Trump won. And I'm a white dude who voted for Harris.
And then they claimed they support Black Lives Matter. Brown people matter if they win, they don't care and will blame you if they lose.
Well, white people and apparently Latino men.
Really guys
This is lemmy cmon, at least put in the effort to question the data source
How many of you even had an option to fill in your race on your voter registration form? My state doesn't even collect this info.
Its a shitpost that makes pearl-clutching liberals feel good.
Man = bad
White man = badder
🤷🏽♂️
You think that it’s all just guesswork? Lmao good Satan please help me.
No
All I see is one of the dumbest nations on the planet and a clear indication that things will continue to decline regardless of whether Donald Trump is wasting oxygen or not.
Dark future.
As an American who didn't vote for fascism, I wish I could argue with you.
This is made with the Cook Swingometer as shown here.
This isn't based on the actual election results of 2024, but projections based on 2020 election data.
So technically it's probably even redder across the board, although if I remember exit polling, black man are still blue.
Still close tho, and very depressing.
Thank you for providing a source and methodology!
Without it, the original posted photo is simply reinforcing our existing biases.
So it's not just bullshit, it's outdated bullshit?
I'm sorry but, what the fuck is wrong with Latino men? Please explain this so my smooth ass European brain can understand!
highly religious
Highly patriarchal
Religious, macho, hatred of other-Latin (Mexicans, Guatemalans, Nicaraguans, Domincans etc. have a lot of interrelational hatred), and I-got-mine-ing (pulling up the ladder once they got their citizenship).
I remember 2016 analysis. Texas promised a lot of wall construction jobs. Florida threatened Castro's ghost was going be donated Miami by commie HRC and Biden in 2020. Latinos may be made to hate each other, by country of origin, or ladder being pulled out for those not here yet, for all I know.
By far the biggest indicator of Trump support/voting intentions is how much they consume "trans normalization outrage porn". Trump's baseless confidence that giving all of America to oligarchs will create more jobs can influence low information/analytical people as well.
In 1998 Clinton's secretary of state stent a SWAT team in to the house of some Cuban immigrants to kidnap a child who's mother died getting him out of Cuba but because his dad was still in Cuba they figured the best way to solve the problem involved point guns at people. Since that event Latinos have voted almost exclusively for Republicans.
My only hope is if there is ever another election they will finally find someone else to hate more than Janet Reno.
I might have the wrong attribution, but I think it was Regan who said “Latino voters are Republicans who don’t know it yet.”
Latino Men, stop listening to these propaganda stations.
If you're white and on the left its time you started infiltrating these conservative spaces. I do, and as soon as they see you are white all you have to do is ignore 1 racist comment and these people open all the folds for you. Its time to get dirty with the people spreading the dirt. The right wanted a revolution? They'll get it.
Believe me I have tried.
They're so scared of what they think is socialism, but what they describe is actually communism.
They don't know why either is bad, just that China has it and they don't want it.
Yup, you back them into a logical corner which should cause critical thinking and doubt. Just turns into "what about this unrelated thing?" Five minutes into the discussion you realize you can't convince them because they see politics as a team sport.
Buy guns, learn to use them safely and effectively, stock up on supplies to defend your family and community if the worst happens.
You will inevitably interact with plenty of racists in that process.
I'm not even black and I'm super proud of y'all for trying you god damned hardest to pull this shit off.
as a white guy to everyone else, I'm sorry the other white guys are so pathetic and weak they have to follow a conman that empowers them to be who they really are.
A lot of men are finding out that they aren't actually white enough for the Republican Party.
White men I can understand (if not agree with). But come on Latinos, you should be fucking better than this.
"Immigrants are poisoning the blood of America"
"Yeah, ese. You tell 'em."
At least the ones in California appeared to know what was up.
I don't live in the US but my country has also had a lot of immigration, invasions (true ones with armies, not mean ways to describe immigration), internal migrations from poorer parts of the country, you name it... Basically almost everyone is an immigrant in one way or another.
Well, our version of the far right has a lot of support from first or second generation immigrants.
One part of it is to pull the ladder up after ourselves and avoid others coming in and competing with us for the same jobs. Another part is that immigrants are on average poorer and angrier about the state of things, and for the populist far right, anger is fuel.
But also, Populists are becoming increasingly good at blurring the lines and making certain people feel included in the "in group" at election time, even if they are going to kick them in the head as soon as the ballots close. Case in point, AfD in Germany being led by a gay woman with an immigrant partner, "Brothers of Italy" being led by a single mom.... Usha Vance is not an isolated edge case, she seems to be part of a playbook, whether she knows it or not.
"Latino" is a white supremacist term. It's a denial of ancestry from america, africa, etc. in favor of "latin" culture aka european. White supremacy needs new blood to survive in USA. That's the whole point of "latino". That's why "latinos" are encouraged to think they're "white". Meanwhile "whiteness" is nothing more than an oppressive system of racist control.
As a European I don't get it anyway. Spanish people are white, but apparently are "people of colour" in the US.
I'm guessing it's one of those "where you came from" things that Americans obsess over. Americans were even "racist" to the Italians and they're pretty much the whitest country in Europe these days.
Are Latinos the next Italians?
In 2020 black males had 80 Biden - 20 Trump and black females 90 Biden - 10 Trump. I'm generally color blind but it's hard not to see how american black culture is so much more attentive to contemporary issues and somehow pop culture managed to twist "woke" as a bad word. crazy.
Pop culture didn't do that, billionaires who own all media did that.
Agreed but it is them who influence the pop culture.
I'm getting quite old now it the anti woke progression was just wild to live through. Suddenly people started to realize that we have a lot of collective power and then everything turned around with anti-woke and anti-cancel-culture campaigns driven by afraid billionaires. I hope history doesn't wash this away so I bare repeating.
Pretty sure the victims of fascism have always been good at recognizing fascism.
I do so love being the most awful gender of the most awful race of the most awful country of the most awful species in the worst of all possible worlds.
And I’m supposed to make friends with these assholes?
Men are not okay
oh goodness, no
Black men are ok apparently. Idiocy seems proportional to the paleness of the skin. Unsurprising.
Interesting that the Asian men seem more closely aligned with the regional split of the whole country and less so on an ideological basis.
To be fair, it's not a very well defined group. It's heavily split by country of origin and economic status. Imagine differences between Indian men with traditional values, Hmong refugees settled in the midwest generations ago, 6th generation Chinese in Chinatown enclaves, or 1st generation Chinese recent grads from Beijing starting up in Tech, etc..
Other racial groups also lose out on interesting distinctions (e.g. Cubans are super red) but tend to still be fairly homogeneous in political views historically.
So would you say then that the subgroups have organically settled into regions that align with their ideologies or rather are perhaps an influential voting bloc that influences the overall swing? However, I see your point that “Asian men” encompasses a larger cultural diaspora than the other demos illustrated here.
Hey Latino men. You're fucking stupid.
The actual problem is anybody who thinks they're "white" in a biological sense and not a privilege sense.
Men as a whole failed to support their family, friends, and neighbors. We are the problem.
Corrupt Dems is a problem.
Yeah, that democratic corruption. Remember when Biden accepted a luxury plane as a bribe gift from a country operating under Sharia law?
You morons elected the most corrupt administration in US history. They literally have open bribe channels via crypto, including from foreign sources. What a bunch of rubes.
This guy is still trying to blame black men. jfc.
The problem has always been "white" people whether "european", "latin", or whatever imaginary category.
I don't know why you made it about race but ok.
By random coincidence, eliminating women's suffrage is within the overton window of the Republican party.
It's not even that close to the edge, they've already added additional voting barriers for most married women.
Let's face it, the Republicans are trying to put trump up as a dictator, which eliminates everyone's right to vote.
holy shit
Good time to be ashamed of my race and it's intellectual ability aparently.
You mean the human race, right?
Well, that too.
Race isn't real big guy; you shouldnt apologize for being born into a particular caste of an artificial construct.
Well, it was supposed to be a joke.
Don't be ashamed of your "race". Recognize it as a pseudo-scientific myth, as a tool for oppression, and disavow it. Work to destroy "whiteness" and racism.

Latinos trying hard to be white
Biologically there is no such thing as "white". Latinos can be "white" if their skin is pale enough to benefit from white privilege.
They think they are white, but white trumpets don't see them
One wonders why the GOP passed the Save Act making it harder for married women to vote...
Awful that people would do that to their loved ones. I can't imagine thinking of my wife that way.
Now women.
God I wish my demograph would just fucking die already.
Hey don't bad talk Mexicans.
Black men saving the day
They tried
Shame Arabs are counted under White, it would be nice to know how they voted. In the past Arabs overwhelmingly voted Democratic, but the Biden's administration complicity in the genocide alienated many voters.
Shame Arabs are counted under White
It's an even bigger shame that we're governed by these psuedo-scientific racist categories.
Latinas are the strongest personalities in my family. Hermanos secret vote red to take away their rights and they won't get the chancla.
They are both vicious capitalist political parties. Both corrupt.
Both don't do anything for labor rights.
Why don't we just have a matriarchy?
Cause then the power players would pander to them instead.
It's not because they're men, it's because men just happened to have the highest amount of inherent social power for centuries/millennia. If women have more inherent social power, they get pandered to instead.
The pandering is the problem, not the gender.
Let’s ask the patriarchy. Maybe they’ll be cool about it.
like the Haudenosaunee Confederacy?
Well that is pretty interesting
My state is getting very scary lately... this map scares me even more. I am very afraid of our next election this fall.
If you don’t mind, what exactly about your state is scary right now?
For the past 8 years, we have seen a lot of progress, and I feel like nobody has really appreciated it or even acknowledged what was done and is still being done. The last governor race was almost lost, but we got 4 more years. People really hate him, though, and as someone who was not a fan of him at all at the beginning, he really came through. This years race scares me a lot since the R are running a complete maga nut... his commercials don't even beat around the bush with them literally telling everyone he will follow trumps rules and also abolish us as a sanctuary state. The scariest part to me is that I believe he will win. If he does not only does all that maga stuff happen but there goes all the progress we made and I'm sure a ton of corruption added in on top of it because there's no way this person is going to care at all. Our country is absolutely wild, and I really don't fit in anymore, which i thought I did at least in my home state.
Would be interesting if in elections only the most disenfranchised populations could vote
If only they were allowed to vote, would they still be the disenfranchised ones?
Well that's depressing
As a white California man all I can say is VIVA LA CALIFORNIA!
✊️
I'm a white dude, apparently one of the relatively few left ones. It's probably because of AuDHD, I grew up knowing what it was like to be in the out group. I lived full time in Honduras for a few years, and not with the military, so I kinda know what it's like to be an immigrant. I had to deal with their visa/immigration system there. It's not the same, I'm not saying that it is, but I've lived the experience of making community and friends and being reminded by the government that you don't belong here. I also got to see the immigration issue from the perspective of the people that are subject to it. A lot of these Trump fucks have enjoyed the luxury of never questioning anything, just cruise, watch your hunting shows, live in your bubble and recite your fox news/ tim pool bullshit. I know the type, and it is utterly inconceivable to them that the could ever end up in the out group, and it's a fucking interesting ride to be along for when they do end up there. Unfortunately, too few of them realize that they weren't just being singled out by the deep state or Satan because life is a show about them, and that that's just life for people in the out group.
Before getting mad remember that it's asian and latino men "that are allows and have chosen to vote."
Does this include people who didn't vote? Like is this if everyone of that demographic voted, or just a demographic map of people who did vote?
I honestly think these maps and graphs and whatever should always include those who didn't vote. That's honestly the metric that is fucking up the elections the most.
Just voters id bet
It's a map of what the vote map would look like if only certain demographics' votes were counted. It doesn't matter if you don't include non-voters, it doesn't change the map.
If you mean 'Include how those people would have voted, if they had' - how would you propose to obtain that information?
I think they mean a map like this: https://files.catbox.moe/mpnsa8.png
What, like some sort of voter registry or something? Or if you get non-registered voters, some kind of census or whatever?
I don't think anyone's ever done anything like that.
So the reality that was spoken/written during the road to the elections all over Lemmy, were Biden and later Kamala were supposed to win by a large margin, was a false and utter lie? A fabrication?
Okay good
Now what's to say this isn't another fabrication as well?
A lot of people aren't on either the left wing internet OR the right wing internet. They're just not on the internet. They don't even watch Fox News. The sum total of what they know about party policy is "Republicans = Christians, Democrats = Atheists".
this is what a lot of people don't understand. lots of churches during election season theres a lot of "apolitcal" messaging about "worldly evils" that just so happens to echo and complement GOP posturing, and then they encourage you to vote. and among the congregation if it's spoken about at all the understanding is that the GOP candidate is the "Christian" and the Dem is a tool of Satan. and then these people go home and avoid news because it's "worldly" or "i don't care about politics" or whatever, and come election time they vote for the "Christian" candidate like they were told to because they literally don't know better.
Sorry but the sheer amount of black trump supporters I've met in the south would call this BS, and even setting aside Maga, there are plenty of black Christians that are conservative enough to still vote for Taco Orange. On the flip side I've met more people who are white or Latino that hate this dude's guts to never vote for the asscunt.
Remember that the electoral college is not a direct vote. As long as there are more votes in a particular state for Candidate A over Candidate B, A will get all of that state's votes. If this happens in every state, then A gets the entire nation's votes without any representation of anyone who voted differently.
Also remember that anecdotal evidence is irrelevant on the scale we're talking about.
My partner went to a meeting, and at the end a man thanked her for “organising” the meeting. Which she had nothing to do with. She was just a woman in the meeting. Thanks, white men!
Interesting. May I ask where the data is from? From the picture there seem to be more demographics available.
Might need to recalculate the Latino vote
Daily.
Hell, hourly.
As a man and Asian, I guess the stereotypes are true.
Yeah crazy how even Cali isn't dark blue.
I guess Latino men are fighting harder for that model minority status these days than Asian men
This diagram is garbage and is unreadable when viewed on its own.
Can we see something like this for ages, too? I heard stats saying that young men (maybe white men in particular) went heavily for Trump, but men ages 70+ went heavily for Harris.
If this data is reliable, I take it that black men in the US are the most racist ethnic community.
Nobody believes in "reverse racism" except racists.
How so?
It's a joke, the humour of which rests on the blatant and disingenuous misuse of a dataset to push a narrative that said dataset has absolutely no connexion to whatsoever by basing the biased and hilariously flawed demonstration on a complete mockery of the topic at hand (here pretending the election was about picking between white and black candidates) while ultimately delivering aforementioned hilariously flawed demonstration in the most mind numbingly laconical way (as if the dogshit opinion presented was of the most obvious and self evident sort), as a pastiche of internet every day behaviour. I genuinely believed that prefacing it with "if the data is reliable" whould have immediately dispelled any confusion about this post being non serious, but I was wrong. Not-reddit is apparently as fit as reddit for jokes.
Note how people are eager to discard any possibility that a post might be a light hearted shitpost for the sake of collectively shitting on it.
Wouldn't the Latinos vote the opposite?
Having seen this up close, these sorts of folks see themselves as law-abiding immigrants and other people coming in as people ruining their reputation. They don't see that the system itself is flawed and terrible for everyone navigating it, rather they got theirs and everyone should be able to do the same. I've see the same sentiment among asians so it's really sad. I wish Americans knew more about their immigration system. How many would think a lottery system is sane?
This a phenomenon seen the world over sadly. Immigrants in every country are often keen to pull the ladder up behind them. Trump is German married to a Slovenian. As for Musk, the US isn't even his second citizenship.
It's a similar impulse to the one that creates violent homophobia in closeted men; an immigrant wants to feel like they're a full member of their adopted society, but when they see another immigrant they instinctively judge them as an outsider, which in turn creates cognitive dissonance because it forces them to reckon with their own identity in response.
They hope that getting rid of the other immigrants will make them more accepted because in their minds they're already Real Americans, but don't realize that when it comes to bigotry, what goes around comes around.
I am one, but stilll, men suck
Latino men... You know he fucking hates you, right? Or at least, the base he panders to does.
I’m not convinced he has cares about anyone. Looks like black Americans are the smartest men here.
Indeed, remember this ladies.
Disappointed by my fellow Latino men
Maybe but we sort of hate ourselves so it seems fitting
