I'd say it has to do with increased support of controllers. It used to be really hit or miss whether a controller would even work on the computer, much less with games.

I dont mind living a little further from a retail area of the city. It'd be nice to have better public transit, though.

I think its a bit silly to expect everyone to want to live in the exact same way though. Especially if it can feel cramped and claustrophobic to them.

Someone decides what the algorithm is meant to do. It's not like it's wholly independent of human interaction. Just because you hide yourself behind layers of technology doesn't mean you're no longer liable for your decisions.

Obsessing about all those bad things, instead of the things you can change, is not helpful, though.
