AOC wants to impeach SCOTUS justices following Trump immunity ruling
  • The Supreme Court must be impartial regardless of legislative and executive political mudslinging of the time. That's the whole point of different branches of government.

If SCOTUS made the decision after seeing Trump and Biden debate, or knowing Republicans will control both houses, then they aren't doing their job as they should. There's a reason why juries are encouraged not to watch TV or media that would cloud their decision, and the same should apply to judges.

People forget the bloody whole point of checks and balance!

  • It's not all that broad. And I look forward to their indignance.
  • I had a coworker who seems to look up to him. He got offended when I told him I don't trust Musk; and took it to mean I don't like Musk. I clarified that when I said I don't trust him, I meant that I am skeptical and don't care much about him. Mind you, this was before the Twitter takeover and Musk finally showing his true colours, and his only bizarre scandal about him at that point was calling professional divers who rescued trapped Thai kids and refused Elon's offer of help, "pedos".

I left my old company and I wonder what my former coworker thinks of Elon now. My coworker seems to be well-intentioned but I sense deep insecurity from him-- the kind of types who typically idolise Musk.

  • It's probably for the best though.
  • Speaking as a person of Asian descent, no one really cares about the Jews in that part of the world as much as the West does. Imperial Japan saw Jews-- who are mostly Germans--as, well, Germans. There are too few Jews in the Far East to make an impression on East Asians. Anti-Semitism is more like West/Middle East thing. That being said, I feel like anti-Semitism is a hate fad that has gone on for far too long. I get that it started when Jesus wasn't recognised as the messiah and Christians hated that, but it was a long time ago. And there are other minority groups who had been persecuted in the past, but now less so compared to the intensity that anti-Semitism has.

I'm not saying that other persecuted groups have had it better-- anyone persecuted is still persecuted-- but there seems to be a far lingering hate fad on Jews. The Irish and Italians in America were discriminated but now not so much. The Jews happen to be very affluent and intelligent, and therefore accused of "secretly running the world", but Asians are also stereotyped as nerds, tend to take STEM jobs which afford them more flexible social mobility, but no one accuses the latter of also secretly running the world.

  • Religion is sick
  • Whenever someone tries to proselytise you, just tell them why would a benevolent god test you by killing your family member who hasn't done anything wrong? A friend of mine, whose father passed away from cancer when my friend was nine years old, said this to a Mormon missionary. And the missionary was stumped to this questioning.

  • It's true though
  • Arguably, the 90s had been the most peaceful (with the exception of few conflicts) and most prosperous decade. The world was just coming out from the spectre of the cold war as a result of collapse of communism, and globalisation is ramping up with many countries signing free trade agreements. But if you ask me, the 00s is arguably more peaceful and more prosperous decade than the 90s, because there were fewer conflicts and we're enjoying the full peak economic prosperity of globalisation and free trade. However, globalisation is mismanaged and we were living in borrowed time during the era as deregulation of free trade led us to the Great Recession. And now we're in downward spiral since with economic austerity having been applied; more conflicts spewing again; and nativist counterculture is trying to reverse globalisation.

  • Ah Bernie, what could have been...
  • I reckon FDR has managed to do as much as he could because he is already wealthy and doesn't have to worry much about funding election campaign. He did not have to beg to rich people and businesses for funding in exchange for doing favours for them. After all, there is strong correlation with how much campaign funds you have with thei likelihood of winning the election.

  • Capitalists: capitalism is the only system that lets you chase your dreams…
  • I keep saying this to conservatives: what do they think will happen if there is oversaturation of "useful" jobs? They do not want an educated population, they want a dumbed down and compliant one who are unquestionably obedient.

  • Are kintsugi kits all the same, or are some brands better than others?

I saw plenty of kintsugi kits available in my area (to those who do not know what kintsugi is, it is the art of fixing broken ceramic/pottery items using lacquer). However, I do not know if the quality is good for the price presented by these shops. Could anyone knowledgeable or experienced in kintsugi give some tips? I'd appreciate any help and thank you in advance.

Is there something wrong with GOG version of Fallout 4?

I got hyped by the TV series so I will play the game for the first time (yes, I know, it took this long). I usually prefer to buy GOG version of a game but I saw the rating of FO4 GOG at 3.9/5. Why is that? I have read somewhere that there is technical issue of some sort which includes modding for GOG version? I expected higher gamer rating for FO4 in GOG but a lower rating typically indicates for me some genuine issues.

Edit: also the GOG Version says it does not include the Creation Club. What is it and is it in some way better than using Nexus mods?

Gameplay mechanics were also a lot better with more replayability.

Ignoring the lack of updates if the game is buggy, games back then were also more focused on quality and make gamers replay the game with unlockable features based on skills, not money. I can't count the number of times I played Metal Gear Solid games over and over to unlock new features playing the hardest difficulty and with handicap features, and also to find Easter eggs. Speaking of Easter eggs, you'd lose a number of hours exploring every nook and cranny finding them!

Which actors you admire that you really wish not to have any scandals?

I was watching a video on Willem Dafoe on his iconic roles, and his passion to craft and life, and positivity, exudes from him immensely. In that video, I am surprised he remembers from which of his movies the lines came from. It made me love him more as an actor because he loves life and his job.

But then during the interview, I remembered too when I watched Kevin Spacey's interview before, admiring him and it turned out he is a creep. I was telling to myself about Willem Dafoe "please don't be a creep, please don't be a creep."

Willem seems like a genuinely nice guy though but I hope I don't get proven wrong!

    Edit: clarified the title
