Rocky rock rocking
That's not a rock. That's a picture of a rock.
Ce n'est pas un rocher
I was looking for this :)
To further the spirit of the topic:
picture: An individual painting, drawing, or other representation on a surface, of an object or objects; esp. such a representation as a work of art. (Now the prevailing sense.)
image: An optical appearance or counterpart of an object, such as is produced by rays of light either reflected as from a mirror, refracted as through a lens, or falling on a surface after passing through a small aperture. Such an appearance may also be a mere subjective impression on the sense of sight, as an after-image (q.v.), and the negative image or accidental image seen after looking intently at a bright-coloured object, and having a colour complementary to that of the object. An image produced by reflexion or refraction is called in Optics a real image when the rays from each point of the object actually meet at a point, a virtual image when they diverge as if from a point beyond the reflecting or refracting body.

I'm here to put the F back in Art
That's not my dad, that's a cell phone. Duh!
It’s a MINERAL, Marie.
Its a pebble
Looks more like a stone to me.
I'm sorry but you have no point of refrence! No banana to scale. Could be a large stone
It's apparently igneous, so you could use grain size. Based on that, probably around the size of a baseball. I'm going with 'large stone' lol
Could be a giant boulder

Ceci n'est pas une rock
The Treachery of Memes
Did you think I'd just accept that at face value? Do you take me for a fool? That is an egg! You've painted it to look like a rock because you are afraid that I will steal it. You thought I would think it was a rock. But it is an egg.
To all the people in my DMs, don't tell me that it's a roc egg. It's not. A roc would have a much larger egg that would be brown in colouration. And it would smell minty, which this one does not. No, this is clearly just a mundane egg painted to look like a rock.
When I said it was a mundane egg I just meant that it was an egg. I didn't know that it would be full of crabs. But it's still an egg! It's a mundane egg that happened to be packed with crabs of varying sizes and colourations.
Obviously, that is a photograph of a stone.
Ceci n'est pas un rocher.
What if it's a hyper realistic drawing of a stone? Checkmate atheists.
It’s not a rock, it’s a photo of a rock. And it’s probably AI.
Source? Really dislike all these unsubstantiated claims everywhere.
Everybody arguing rock, stone, or pebble.
It's a jpeg.
Just downloaded it, it was a .png.
Ce n'est pas un rocher
They're minerals Marie!
This is not a rock. It is just a pebble.
I have to say it. That's a really nice rock.
Well rounded
Uniform oval shape
Well distributed grain
Minimal color invariance
Pauli's exclusion principle compliant
Higher than average support threshold
Aerodynamic
Hydrodynamic
No moss (that's always a plus)
No visible cracks, dents or imperfections
Negative wobblyness
3 dimensional
Positive spinniness
Nice all around silicate spectrum
Higher than average (if not more) cold-handling potential
High end projectile index (above 0.95, that's factoring window breaking potential)
Maximally grind factor (>0.82, that's garlic grade)
Nutcracker performance with tolerable parameters
Accurate weather predictor (Fast drying is most)
Gravitationally bound to Earth system
Free range Baryonic matter contents
All around a solid, great pick. Only needs a banana for scale but thanks to the +-wow factor(i number values) any size variation would just only make it better
Rate: 5/7
7/7 with rice
Bro Rating: 🧢 🧢 🧢 🧢 🧢
Judgement: 👍
you're right. no arguments here
I hate that rock. I dont even think its not man made. Fake ass dumb rock
It’s a perfect 5 out of 7
Why is moss bad?!
It's not bad but has been deprecated as a good predictor since the 1987 US Solar system survey review from the 87-608 reports from Brown, Janet L., where the Framework for sedimentary moss patterns of the Rock Formations on Sol III was developed and standardized
It's not a rock, do your research
I think its an egg painted gray.
Its actually nothing like this rock. This is just a trubute!
Clearly its not a rock as it is too smooth to be from nature and has been polished by hand.
IT'S A STONE
Get your head out of the sand, bird man!
Oh that's such a typical response from the kind of person in the subgroup I have now mentally assigned you to based off my preconceptions about anyone who gives descriptions of that stone that differ from mine!
Stony stone stoning
Rocks aren't real people!!!! Wake the fuck up and follow your instincts! It's all a conspiracy conjured up by big GEOLOGY!
True. OP needs to do his own reading.
The Brotherhood of Stone has been at this for centuries making people believe in rocks. Its the most despicable, heinous, ludicrous conspiracy that has its claws reaching into everything, literally everything. I've been researching it for decades and I still haven't found just how far the rabbit hole goes.
Rocks are real people. That's why they make great pets.
Rocks are not mere pets, do not be so arrogant to think of them as such. You might think of them as tools but you'd be wrong about that was well. We are the tools. We have been tools from the moment a human first picked up on of those profane things. A rock hungers for violence and murder yet lacks the capacity to perform such feats on its own. They use us, like Cain of old, to turn the grindstone wet with blood for goals beyond our understanding.
Sorry its a pebble.
Go fuck yourself you rock loving perv, take your big stone post and deposit your filthy sediment somewhere else!
Hey, fuck you and your kink shaming
What if a child saw this post? Do you want children to get traumatised by this disgusting sinful rock perversion?!?
My first thought was it being an incorrect first line and my brain went "and I'm getting stoned."
"She got a rock,
And I'm gettin' stoned"
But then had that very programmed feeling of you shouldn't say that because you aren't getting stoned and you don't want people to think of you as getting up and getting stoned on a Saturday morning. Talk about being programmed to fear what other people think.
Anyways Eric Church has a couple songs I liked
Rock and roll was slain by the metal in the year 2012 but rose again as an undead revenant abomination. Yeah it won't die now but it had to die in order to become that way. They're trying to cover it up but I know the truth.
It's clearly a rock coloured silicone egg for people with an oviposition fetish.
The rock was clearly designed by an omnipotent God, and can't be the product of chance
Prove it.
Source: Trust me bro
C'est pas une pierre, c'est une roche 🤪
Qual Roche qual quê caralho, aquilo é uma pedra!!
Of any rock you could have posted, you post this thing? Bleh.
Some of us like that 'thing'!
I’ll be taking that rare earth mineral and you will say thank you. It’s for your own safety.
That is an island!
Nobody is an island
Fossilized Egg
I would describe it more as a well rounded piece of gravel, just calling it a rock disregards the geological implications of fluid transport and energy involved with a well rounded stone of that size.
Wow, just TYPICAL that one of you people would just IGNORE the fact that the object is actually an accumulation of particles that were formed in a number of astronomical events over billions of years, I guess you don't even CARE about the rich history that went into this object before your precious "geology" worked on it, and only care if it's "well rounded."
It’s a lovely rock dear. Good job well done.
That's a rock, alright.
Its actually a stone

What size are we talking here? Looks like a pebble to me, fucker.
Oh I'm sure everything looks like a pebble to you from that high horse you're sat upon. If you had any basis in reality you'd know this is a boulder. Keep living in delusion if that's what makes you happy, but the rest of us live in the Real World.
Why a rock?i want a snack
why a duck?
This is Patrick
That's pet rock. I thought they discontinued that thing.
"The guy made a million dollars!"
Those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks
Without banana for scale it could be boulder or asteroid
Even a pebble
My god, when do the lies end?!
Rock and stone!
Had to scroll way too far to find this. For Karl!
Rock and stone!
This is not a pipe
That is not a pipe
Some of you have very poor taste then. But im not here to discuss the nuances of true rockiness with YOU. Educate yourself first on grains and cracks. But I guess that would be "too much" for you.
Pretend it’s a seed
That's not a rock
Ce n'est pas un rocher
It's a stone, Luigi. You didn't make it.
Lemmy already has enough anger. Cant we use this post to have a peaceful discussion?
No
Clearly it's an egg of a momma stone
On my side it's a bitmap image
You cannot just say this is a ROCK! What type of rock, is it igneous, sedimentary or metamorphic rock, then what rock is it, is it granite or norite. And what is the damn mineralogy, are there any feldspars or over identifiers
ce n'est pas un rocher
It's a pipe!
i saw that rock posting on lemmy.ml.
This reminds me: weren't pet rocks a thing at a certain time?
Yes
Nice.
Fuck you, it's a banana.
No, this is Patrick!
What? We're not good enough to be presented multiple rocks? Do we need to ration one of Earth's most abundant resources now?
Nice
I refuse to argue about this due to the following reasons, assumptions and attacks against your person: ...
Ok.
Wrong.
Ok.
That's an egg fossil
Nah that's a bean.
That is igneous rock! You have to be specific otherwise it's just wrong and confusing!
Is no rock, is troll kid!
That's two rocks.
It's an egg
No alt text tho
Everybody wants a rock to wind their piece of string around.
We are all rock on this blessed day
A rock? Care to be more specific?
That's not a rock.
That's just contradiction. An argument’s a collective series of statements to establish a definite proposition. Contradiction’s just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says.
I would not have assumed common sense needed to be stated; any observer can tell we are not being shown a rock.
Such a old Facebook meme
Clearly a stone.
Failed again.
It's an image.
It's clearly just binary code.
It's definitely not a pipe
Yep, seems like a static gif file. That's pronounced as jiff in case anyone was wondering.
maybe a pebble. need banana for scale
Macrosand
The last exchange I read around the "banana for scale" thing was inconceivably contentious.
could even be a boulder
The pioneers used the ride these babies for miles.
Tiny boulders do not exist. you have obviously never seen a large boulder the size of a small boulder
Bite-sized mountain
You're just like Hitler, blocked.
Is it? Could be a pebble. We don't have a scale after all.
Did I hear an rock and stone?
