Detailed Army plans for a potential military parade on President Donald Trump’s birthday in June call for more than 6,600 soldiers, at least 150 vehicles, 50 helicopters, seven bands and potentially a couple thousand civilians.
The planning documents, obtained by the AP, are dated April 29 and 30 and have not been publicly released.
Coincidentally, Trump’s birthday this year and the 250th anniversary of the US Army fall on the same date. If the parade is for the military and not for Trump it’s not really that unreasonable.
A reminder that Q1 25 federal spending under Trump has increased over Biden's Q1 24 spending. A reminder that tariffing the fuck out if the world will only exponentially increase spending.
Not that anyone pro-Trump/conservative actually cares about reigning in spending. It's all an excuse to punish brown people and poor people.
These are the same assholes who claim they want small government then cheer government curtailing rights when it's something they didn't like (women's rights, religious freedoms, sending people to prisons in foreign countries). Government spending is just a magic word they use for "things I don't know about or don't care for"
Trump will have to care about the debt. A lot of it matures soon and needs to be renewed, but his antics caused the rates to spike so it's going to cost bigly. Or ignore it and break the entire system what'll be even more fun. It'll be entertaining to watch either way.
In the military, doing something to surprise a commanding officer is among the highest displays of respect. Especially if you can make it costs tens of millions of dollars
Many countries have military parades. Not just dictatorships. France has a military parade on Bastille Day. It’s a tradition started in 1880. The Netherlands has one during Veterans Day, Mexico on Independence Day and Italy during Republic Day to name a few.
They represent the Army’s most recent blueprint for its long-planned 250th anniversary festival on the National Mall and the newly added element — a large military parade that Trump has long wanted but is still being discussed.
The Army anniversary just happens to coincide with Trump’s 79th birthday on June 14.
I had a faint hope our military wasn't garbage enough to gargle Trumps balls but this is pretty telling. I guess I still cling to some kind of childish naivety.
I figured. Never saw the exact news but I find it troubling that it's that easy to change military leadership. Hopefully a portion of the troops understand the importance of fragging in a situation like this.
It would be a perfect way to stage a military coup though.... You've got a reason to have thousands of troops on hand, military vehicles and armaments of various kinds.
I'm not saying the military has any assertions on staging such an act, and it definitely would not be as desirable as the judiciary or the legislative branch holding him accountable. But... It does seem like a pretty good opportunity to exploit Trump's egomaniacal desire for puffery.
I don't really thing we have a functional government anymore so the justice system doesn't really exist except for poor people. Poor people like myself just get to eat all the turds shat out by the current justice system that's controlled by people with money. Trump's ability to escape treason charges taught me that. There's never been a bigger traitor in the history of this basic bitch country. The biggest sign of this country's sickness is that a greasy, sleazy, orangish, spraly tan hair slicked back used car dealer was elected for a 2nd time.
Publicly televised military massacre. Trump is doing Saddam shit, and I wouldn't put it past him to simply try to order the military to either start a shooting war with a near peer during said parade, or order them to gun down Congress/the SC.
On top being a dicktorial huge waste of money, the M1 Abrams is an extremely heavy tank to use on roads that haven't been well maintained. Given his habits and hissy fits, the Donvict is going to stick whatever mayor for the bill to repair those roads. This was one of the reasons the Pentagon denied tanks last time for a parade request and proposed Striker Vehicles instead. He got mad as he does in his man child ways because he wanted the big tanks . Probably wants soldiers to do the high heel kick march as is tradition when preparing for a world war. The higher the kick the higher the success rate.
I think he was inspired by the French défilé when he was invited during his first term. The Pentagon said no then because tanks would rip up the streets in DC. Looks like this time he successfully captured the Pentagon and other agencies to get what he wants.
The White House is denying reports that it plans to hold a military parade in Washington on President Donald Trump’s birthday in June. But now claim it would be held on June 14, which happens to be the birthday of both the U.S. Army and the dictator-in-chief.
Krasnov wanted the Pentagon to explore staging a military parade in the nation’s capital in his first term, after witnessing Bastille Day celebrations in Paris.
“I don’t know. We’re gonna have to try and top it,”
Thank you Dear Leader for having the strength, courage, intelligence, and selflessness required to bring the change needed to follow in the footsteps of great and powerful nations such as The Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
Thank you Dear Leader for all that you do and have done, including not yet sending me and my family to die in a labor camp. Glory to The Supreme Leader and to the party.
