413524 Gang, rise up!
413524 Gang, rise up!
413524 Gang, rise up!
Really?! 524135
…and does no one go counterclockwise? I would have guessed it was less common and biased towards lefties, but there most be someone, right?
…also, whoever did 13542 is fired.
Yeah I start at the 5, clockwise.
Same! It seems the obvious way to do it – starting with the one horizontal line.
I think this or the lefty version would produce the neatest stars.
I do the same, although I am a righty.
I scrolled too far to see this.... I didn't know people were doing stars so differently.
I've never really thought about it that hard, but I have noticed that a lot of times I have trouble getting the star to fit the spot I intended and it winds up being squished and/or lopsided. I've always used 13524, but 52413 makes a lot of sense for solving that issue.
52413 anyone?
You start with a straight line. It literally makes the most sense cause it decides the size of the star as well.
I like this method because it let's me angle the star however I want
This is the correct order. 5-to-2 sets the width of the star, which is important when writing multiple identical stars next to each other.
I was sad that I didn't learn that until high school. Never drew a star any other way after that. The young woman who taught me I can't remember, but the star.... I'll always remember haha
Yes. I can only imagine Light Yagami doing 52413 in the Death Note
This, because it's how i remembered it being drawn in Donald Duck in Mathmagic Land
12345 gang rise up!
That's amazing, that's the same combination I have on my luggage!
How in the world do you go from 5→ 4 and make a star
425314 here
I had to scroll waaaay to far to find this. Are we rare??
Apparently
Was about to make the same comment
Do you write left-handed? I do, and this is my sequence too.
No, I’m right handed
This is the way
Finally my people.
No idea how or when I started doing it this way, but I can't change now!
Pretty sure my kindergarten teacher and mom both on our team. My fate was long ago sealed.
I wasn’t aware there was any other way. I’m having an identity crisis over here.
53142 Am I crazy?
I am also crazy and most of my stars end up inverted.
12345 cause I'm a mad bastard
52413
same
Left handed?
No but I've been told the way I hold my pens is similar to the way left handed people right. Rather than push the pencil along the page I drag it. Resulting in my hand kind of looking like a 'C' when I'm write
Hello my star sibling
ummmm....
I go 524135
13524 feels natural to me without testing it.
13542 in the original doesn't even make a star
That may have been a typo.
135241 is the natural order ofc
Because it is and all these others are heresy.
135241
352413, I mean, clearly.
Hello fellow lefty.
413524 reporting!
I think we are in a teeny tiny minority.
I honestly would never have guessed!
13542?? Really??
Wow, I was the ABCDEA2B3C4D5E1A-Guy until now
You should probably see a doctor
I do E134524E
was taught this way because it still looks neat even when you don't line up your starting and ending point
13524 (1)
I think the op medium- level comment is just a typo of this, otherwise wtf is 13542?
And I'm shocked I'm the first one to say this, surely this is by far the most common way?
I'm with you.
142531
Im a lefty, and this is how I draw them.
Same actually
31425
I thought this was a bolt tightening pattern and wondered why anyone cared where they started.
24135 would result in an incomplete star...
1 1.5 2 2.5 3 3.5 4 4.5 5 5.5 1
Clean up your stars people, those middle lines are ugly as hell
25314 supremacists rise up
<polygon points="50,5 61,35 95,35 67,57 78,90 50,70 22,90 33,57 5,35 39,35"/> </svg>
I’m allergic to SVG z
s so when the comment above said they were 425314, my internal reaction was “no, it’s just 42531”.
Why is your comment misaligned
Edit: got it! after checking the HTML, Lemmy interpreted your comment as a list, because of the number followed by a dot.
I don't conform to societal norms.
425314
same. Do you happen to be left handed by any chance?
I am legitimately surprised at how few people start with the horizontal line here. I can never get the damn thing lined up right if I don't start with the horizontal line.
314253
Being a leftie, this is the way.
Not gonna say which way I do it because that was my old phone dot pin thing and I'm paranoid, but for that I did something different to both of them.
425314
Doesn't it depend on the ritual?
The corner in which you're starting and ending should have a meaning and should set the subconscious for the ritual as symbol.
At least that's the idea, as far as I've understood it

if you dont do like this you are crazy... 13542 is the only way!
I thought it was a typo in the op, but how are you getting from 5 to 4? I always chose a path with just straight lines...
Wait, people are being taught ways other than 414524?
I mean, I was, because the goal was to make a star..
Sorry, we don't draw fish here
414524
🤨
135241 but they always look awful. Maybe starting at 4 is the play ⭐️🤔
Yeah I’m the same, now wondering if that’s why it looked so rough in my youth lmao
I'd draw it 413524, but I'd read it as 135241.
4, 1, 3, 3.5, 4
Obviously
531425 😅
star upside down?
I go 1<2<3<4<5
((2*x) mod 5) + 1
Well I draw it as a pentagram instead whenever possible, but I think I still start at 4 if you flip it.
How about 31415?
142531
100% this
Everyone else is heretics
You start at the top of the pentagram, because that's Spirit. You hit the other elements and end at Spirit.
I do it this way because it is the closest to how I was taught to write letters.
In the Golden Dawn tradition (if I read and recall correctly) you start with 1 to 2 if invoking and 2 to 1 if banishing (which is probably the more common of the two)! Yay knowledge no one asked for 🤣
Heretics are where I would expect lots of experience in expressing sigils
this post is nerd sniping for mages
thanks sane person
