Nationalistic / Jingoistic pride. Comes from a state that has compulsory service. No doubt it affects your view on a country if you serve in its military.
I'm sure it did have an effect on the first screenings, actually. She's probably right.
The movie still would have tanked, though, because of the dogshit writing and Gal's complete lack of acting ability.
- The whatever kind of drama afterwards didn't help as well. Not everything is misogynistic just because a woman leads a clusterfuck. Maybe it tanked because it was a clusterfuck, not because all men bad.
  
  Star Wars had the same problem.
  Undoubtedly there was some mysogyny behind some of the criticism, but ultimately they just weren't good movies.
