  • First time I've seen someone asking for less memes on Lemmy

I think some memes are good too. If it was all kids getting shot through the head many people would stop visiting because they can't handle that.

  • I don't think they draw unnecessary lines at all. The more familiar I get with the names the clearer the corruption scheme becomes.

For example Peter Mandelson shows up in multiple investigations and we know what he's about.

  • I wonder why the same names frequently keep popping up in multiple videos in multiple corruption scandals

Do you think there's any connection between them and corruption?

  • Not really, nobody checks sources anyway. And if you do want to do that you can just open Google

Quoting a source is done if you don't want to take personal responsibility to state something as a fact. But TruthOut has no problem using their reputation to certify the stories of Palestinians.

As long as Israel isn't letting journalists into Gaza, there is no need to verify anything negative about Israel.

  • I don't like WCK much. Their leader Jose Andres throws the people getting shot by Israel under the bus because he's close with the US establishment.

They're not bad but any organization with someone like that at the head gives me the creeps.

  • Unclear from the article but the story of Bahaa has appeared in a other news. This article is a compilation. It also references other cases. Not sure why you care if TruthOut spoke to him directly.

There's tonnes of articles from other mainstream media which similarly reference other articles and I never see any questions about that. Whenever someone starts questioning sources on Palestine articles I am sceptical of their intentions.

  • You're right. That also explains why Rania Khalek randomly celebrated Platner which was a bit out of character.

I don't think "experienced tankies" are doing much better. I got banned from Hexbear for calling out ChapoTrapHouse supporting Platner, and many people uncritically support influencers from that sphere as well. I'm terminally online enough at this point to know faults in every mainstream influencers. Including all the ones I watch myself.

  • What's worse raping kids or killing kids?

  • Ken Klippenstein is an amazing example. One day he's exposing massive government scandals. The next day he's apologising for a war criminal because they promise him free healthcare.

  • I think you confused Breaking Points with Breakthrough News. I still frequently listen to Breaking Points as they often cover interesting subjects in geopolitics. For example they also do a great job for example on Pakistan and Imran Khan. And Jeremy Scahill even comes on sometimes for great interviews But Ryan Grim really has a blind spot for US Supremacism.

I happen to be terminally online enough to know that the Rania Khalek from Breakthrough Media also recently made a misser, I think it was that she celebrated Platner on Twitter solely because he posed as anti-Israel. In any case she's from Lebanon not from China or the US so I'm pretty sure she just got swept up in the US-supremacist generated hype about him and just believed the endorsementss.

I don't really deal in dismissing viewpoints anymore though. Just know what the blind spots of them are and they still have interesting news to read and listen to. Everyone is biased towards some things. Though some more than others.

  • Ryan Grim can do great reporting but he is extremely US supremacist. As long as the US isn't the bad guy you can usually trust him.

Exclusive: UK government lawyer warned ICC bureau its Khan disciplinary process 'unlawful'

  • At the start of the Iran war with the Central Israel Agency backed terrorists Ryan Grim on Breaking Points and Dropsite published a few articles about how Zionist backed terrorists are based actually and Iran is a regime.

Jeremy Scahill is extremely different in intonation and always explains the situation from a more truth-centric point of view (which Liberals would call pro-Iran.

Jeremy also does a great job in directly speaking to leaders from the resistance like Hamas and representing their point of view.

Ryan does apologia for people like Platner but Jeremy has basically the opposite point of view. Jeremy is also on the ground doing journalism elsewhere while Ryan is in the US.

Dropsite is also publishing Ryan's Breaking Points clips defending Nazi mass murderer Platner on their Twitter account

  • Saying that one is more unforgivable already means you consider it worse.
