U.S. President Joe Biden on Thursday called China a "ticking time bomb" because of its economic challenges and said the country was in trouble because of weak growth.
There's something extremely funny about the president of the US looking at what's going on China and saying out loud, "Their economy is a ticking time bomb." This is almost an onion news story.
Omfg you people really spam every China related thread on our site huh? Forcing us to endure seeing your annoying asses at every corner, is there no way to block every hexbear user?
What makes it spam? We're invited to lemmy.ml, it shows up on our homepage the same as it does yours (probably even higher because instances more likely to downvote or ignore political posts don't link with us atm).
If you meant flooding, it's not that either. We're a big instance (1k users weekly) with a general interest in politics and a historical anti-lurking culture, so we'll be disproportionately active in political threads compared to a general instance like lemmy.ml, just like programming.dev is in tech threads. Are we meant to just not share an opinion because too many other people in the same instance already posted their (different) opinion?
Ngl the anti lurking culture of hexbear has been so good for us being able to fucking bully libs coming in despite there maybe being a "silent majority" of ex-reddit libs who probably outnumber us but never post
Back on Reddit we were like the third most active sub in sheer posting velocity after I think the NBA sub with 2.3 million members. They couldn't keep us off the front page without fucking with the algo. It's one of the main reasons they quarantined us.
You can just make your own instance where only people with brains as smooth as bowling balls are allowed and defederate with the rest of us. I guarantee you that everyone will be much happier.
It's also kinda hard to have 99% of people dislike China if 18% of the global population lives there and is very satisfied with their government, not even counting anyone in Russia, other parts of Asia and the Pacific, Central and South America, or Africa.
You're really showing whose opinions you actually care about. A bunch of propagandized to the brim, comfortable Americans, Canadians, and Europeans
You think the people answering questions in these surveys were bribed? That’s hilarious lol. Imagine the headlines, “Global corruption soars as China moves to enhance its public image by bribing billions”
Go read about BRI infrastructure projects in Africa and Asia. The global south is generally very positive about Chinese politics because Chinese give them hospitals and roads and ports.
You know the US is upstanding because it won't even bribe its own citizens by giving them anything that would improve their lives no matter how hard they vote. True democracy!
In the real world 99% of people in US think about where their next meal is going to come from instead of perseverating about China the way you're doing kid.
I think you'd be shocked to find out that most of the world thinks very highly of China and it's accomplishments and foreign policy. Though you like meant only to refer to Americans, which is understandable given your lamentable biases.
I mean I completely disagree with you, but this thread can't be healthy for you.
What purpose is it serving to get enraged here?
I'd say take a breather and if you dare: ask yourself how reliable your impression of China really is, maybe research some older claims that have been proven to be misrepresented or false, like this for example. Not saying you have to become a fan, but there seems to be a propaganda effort to prepare the public for a economic/military war with China. So more people need to be sceptical.
You seem to haven't accepted it yet, but the capitalist class, through the means of communication they control, construct most impressions you have of foreign countries (without them being able to interject) and facts are negligable as they have been in the news-medias support of every US war effort in history as well.
I got a little carried away, but I meant it in good faith, you decided to wear a badge of socialism after all.
Our secret is that we get a 20$ kickback from a cardiologist in Fresno every time one of these people pops. It's not honest, not is it much, and yet we soldier on.
They're either clueless teenagers that only know the things they've learned from TikTok or working for whatever the Chinese equivalent of glavset is. Either way, they tend to make themselves scarce when that link is dropped on them.
Imagine thinking the most Redditor-ass reply of linking to Wikipedia of all places on a topic they are already familiar with is useful. Do you believe the Reddit myth about wumaos being shot whenever they see the phrase "Tiananmen Square Massacre" is true?
Do they make themselves scarce? You haven't done your research then: https://hexbear.net/post/301934 (technically OP on Lemmygrad but it counters your premise still)
Yeah I get like 50 responses to my comments everyday... been reported as a bot multiple times. Given their tactics, my suspicion is the hexbear is a 50 cent army hive, but haven't confirmed this yet. Could be just kids that spent too much time on TikTok that don't know how terrible the PRC is. Or a mix of both. But likely just 50 cent army.
But meh, if it's wasting more of their time than mine, we're winning.
Sorry, but I'm actually not allowed to get paid for my China posts because of a noncompete clause I signed from when George Soros hired me as a crisis actor. I'm not allowed to be a paid actor in any other conspiracy theories right now, so I'm just defending China pro-bono to keep my posting skills sharp so I can try to get on as a wumao once my contract is up.
Sir please keep the good name of Mr. Cent out of your Liberal mouth. .50 Cent got shot 9 times and recovered to be both a great rapper and the protagonist of a really bad X-box shooter. You accomplishments pale in comparison with his career.
'Never wrestle with pigs. You both get dirty and the pig likes it.'
Sure more past grievances from fascist hexbear. Yeah yeah the British were horrible colonizers. I can say that where I live.
But how about we discuss how you feel about the Tiananmen Square massacre. But of course you can't because you're afraid of the repercussions of discussing it even today, don't you?
You know they teach about it in China, right? You're so far up your own ass you're just telling stories about stories you've been told and none of them have anything to do with reality.
I feel sort of a warm, minty sensation. I really appreciate the students willingness to boldly confront the Deng government to voice their opposition to the imposition of liberal market economics, and I'm sympathetic to their position that social conservativism and a very restrictive public culture was not in line with communist practice. It also demonstrates the delicate balance of power between the party and the people.
The chilling effects of that massacre exist in China to this day. It's something that's blocked by their nationwide firewall and people refuse to discuss it out of fear of having some trouble with the authorities.
I do love how you keep playing to Tiananmen Square card like it's all 5 pieces of Exodia against Hexbears (supposedly) and it repeatedly has no effect.
The times in your past where it's worked, it may have been with teenagers that support China to be edgy.
We're educated who understand China's faults and side with China over US/UK/Can anyway. But you simply can't comprehend people that think China's positives outweight it's negatives without them being paid 50 cents a post.
Why? We all know that about 300 people, mostly pla soldiers and insurgents, were killed in fighting blocks away from the square, while all the students in the square evacuated peacefully after the pla issued a final ultimatum.
