One day I'll get caught up

I thought I've watched a lot of Trek ... I've seen all of TNG, VOY, half of TOS, a few episodes of DS9, DISCO, and currently watching SNW Season 2 ... and I've seen most of the movies

I've seen all of TOS, TNG (including the movies for both), DS9, about half of VOY (working through it right now), the first...3? seasons of DIS, one episode of PIC, all of LDs, SNW, and Pro, and the three Kelvinverse movies. So I feel like I'm closing in pretty well.
That said, I'm surprised that there are 900 episodes and nearly 840 hours. Considering most of those episodes would be about 40–45 minutes, and a decent chunk are half that length. How can it be more than 675 hours. Unless I'm missing something, either the OP is a severe understatement, or the CBR article is a severe overestimate.

  One thing you might be missing is that commercial breaks used to be shorter back in the day, so TOS episodes are 50 minutes long.

It's all good. Jump in where you feel comfortable. Don't feel compelled to slog through an episode that doesn't jive. And if you dislike anything we like, you will feel our wrath.

Don't worry, it gets good after the first 2 to 3 ... hundred hours. Just stick with it!

Yeah, someone here the other day said they were ashamed they hadn't seen TOS yet. That's not something to be ashamed about. People have lives to live.

My trick is to watch shows like that while working out (elliptical, stationary bike, calisthenics when I'm at home...) this way it doesn't eat at my normal schedule.

Not counting the movies and episodes you find yourself watching on loop... forever.

I recently started watching tng and I'm absolutely amazed at how good it is. People say the first two seasons are rough but I'm loving it. I did skip 2 or 3 episodes recome to skip though

I'm on TOS.. Season 2. Still considering if the animated series is worth watching or I should skip them

TAS is not bad, I actually think there are some episodes that feel more timeless in it, but definitely not necessary. TNG is an overall better series than both TOS and TAS, so I would hold off on the animated until your just looking for more star trek content.
The animated series are great! (Lower decks is my favorite of all Star Trek).
TOS is... not. While it was great in the 1960s, most of it hasn't aged very well. Feel free to skip TOS and start from TNG.
- I am actually enjoying TOS. Its true that they are not quite as good as they were when they came out out but I still love the acting, the scenes and the music. It almost looks like a theater show!
