Why tots gotta have all the fun?
Sure, why not?
replace batteries in lightup shoes
If we're going down this rabbit hole, shoes with lights is pretty far down on the list of child-oriented products that should be made for adults.
Other potential entries include:
But you can get most of those things already. Shirts can be ordered with custom prints. You can rent (or buy) a bouncy castle and put it in your backyard. Beddings and sheets I get, because you can probably only find them in twin sizes.
Light-up shoes in adult sizes on the other hand are nearly impossible to find, or are pretty expensive if you find one.
Saw a kids sweater with a fuzzy dinosaur on it recently. Thought it would be amazing as an adult sweater. But of course it would cost $400 if it existed
Snow boots that change color in the cold. I had those as a toddler and they were the coolest things ever.
I've been in a bouncy castle with kids and alone. It sucked and I was very tired.
Maybe if there were some full-size humans bouncing they would bounce me around too instead of me launching kids onto the roof.
There was an art show that had a bouncy castle for adults. I think that's a thing
It is, there used to be a place around me that catered to adults for bouncy inflatable things.
$10 and some mushrooms and it was an amazing time.

I’m very interested in where you are sourcing this list!
I have two children and very few inhibitions.
I'm going with "no", because it's a shit product for the environment when you have batteries and electronics fitted into rubber. If the battery runs out, the electronic breaks or the rubber wears out, the entire product is likely to be discarded and burned together.
If you want to attach small lights to your shoes, go ahead. You can then also transfer the lights to your next pair of shoes, change the battery and repair or discard of everything separately.
I don't have light-up shoes, but I have lights for when I go for a run in the dark. They use a floating magnet that creates small electrical charges, strong enough to make a pair of LEDs flash, with every step. Installing those inside shoes would be a good idea.
This could satisfy environmental concerns, but I personally am not sold on the comfort angle of the solution.
There is an easy solution to that. The internal pad, where the toe sits on, could be removable. This way, both the battery can be replaceable, and the electronics board.
Another idea, could be to implement wireless charging for the lights, since it's not easy to fit a charging port on a shoe.
Only if we get the built in inline roller skates, too
Police departments should make it part of the uniform. Because when a foot pursuit ensues, they are flashing red & blue on their own heels.
Like 12 years ago a guy i knew from the edm scene in socal created exactly that with his company called electric styles and he’s still doing it.
Looks like they’re also on amazon, ebay etc
I was at a music festival about a week ago and there were several dozen people wearing these, they were kick ass
Amazing!
Only $35 is a bargain for those shoes so there must be a catch. For reference, I went to Burger King with my wife for lunch last week and it was $35 for just our two meals.
Yea good point. Their domain is abandoned so not sure what deal is any more. Last I heard is they were moving manufacturing from china to Mexico
Yes. Full stop.
Do adults buy them in sufficient quantities to justify producing them?
Even more fun with knee high stockings, a short skirt, and a bikini top. Better if you identify as cis male
Lights, yes.
Blinking or strobing lights, no
If you must have blinky lights, there should be something different than walking that sets off the blinking show.
something different that sets off the blinking show
It would amazing if we had an app that controls the shoe lights. I love needing an app for every single product/device I buy.
However, I can think of some use cases for "smart" RGB shoes
Probably easy to modify (for electrical engineers) to manufactured shoes
How about dancing
Well, it's not walking. Dance mode, activate!
There are some with illuminated soles.
They just arent blinky.
Oh and they are most likely to be found in specialty shops or online.
I've had some that are dogshit and broke
They do exist. A friend of mine has pairs for his whole family.
Yes. With rechargeable batteries, or some obvious way to change the batteries.
Do be certain to advertise them here, so that I am aware these are even for sale. Or take preorders for my shoe size. (Why in the hell is everything NOT a preorder these days?)
i would go feral if i could have light up sketchers in adult sizes GIMME PLEEEEASE
They already do. You can also get Heelys in adult sizes, in case anyone was wondering.
I had a pair at some point. You could toggle the lights so they looked like regular sneakers when you needed them to. Wouldn't wear them now I think but they were pretty sick for raves and such.
I'd kill for some good quality adult heelys though.
I think the issue here is an engineering problem, not necessarily a lack of demand. The sole of the shoes would need to be impracticaly/uncomfortably thick to protect the electronics and keep said electronics from digging into the feet.
We figured it out in the last millennium, I think we can figure it out again.
The real reason would probably be that you'd need to make the soles out of rubber again instead of the cheap foam that almost all modern (fast fashion disposable) shoes are made with these days.
No way, LEDs can be tiny. Just look at how many they cram into displays like your phone or TV. The biggest thing is likely to be the battery but those can be made in all kinds of form factors.
Those tiny LEDs also need to be protected. I du no, the forces involved in am adult walking ate much greater than that of a child.
I'm pretty sure they do. LMDDGTFU, yes. If you use the search engine on your browser "LED Sneakers Adult", you will find them. Here's a review of them: https://worksafetytools.com/light-up-shoes-adults-nike-the-ultimate-guide-to-the-coolest-sneakers-with-led-lights/
No. More. Gewgaws.
I mean I got some removable reflectors for my ankles but I feel you
I want neon trim on mine. And hydraulics, too!
I swear some older folks with demetia had them because their families got it for them. I mean maybe they just fit a large kids size or something.
