Her er stedet, her er mennesket. Sådan ser det ud og sådan gør de. Filmen er i et tempo der lægger op til at man selv tænker over det.

  • Are Tetra Paks actually recycled?
  • Aluminium is fine for acidic beverages and it is possible to buy juice in a can, but that would be a single serving. Juice and milk make sense to buy in larger sizes for multiple servings. Plastic bottles are also an option for those, but it really depends on how they're recycled locally if that makes more sense than the cartons.

The aluminium red solo cups ought to be recyclable just as any other aluminium product, provided that they're returned in the first place and not mixed with other disposable garbage. Selling them as disposable seems counterproductive. A better option would be to use actual cups or glasses for picnics and bring them back home. Washing a cup in a dishwasher is much better than recycling aluminium.

It's not easy for consumers to make a good choice.

  • Let's discuss: Deus Ex
  • I only played the original. I didn't really like it at first, thinking that the augmentation and mod stuff was needlessly complicated for this kind of game. Also the graphics weren't all that great in comparison to other games using the same engine. There were a lot of attention to details in comparison to other games so I gave it a chance. The turning point came after completing the first part of the story and getting hooked. The story really carried the game and touches on some interesting topics.

A game with a similar feel would be Omikron: The Nomad Soul. It was released the year before Deus Ex, has worse controls and graphics, but the story and setting is somewhat similar.

  • Are Tetra Paks actually recycled?
  • Technically they're "downcyclable". The materials can be separated and used for other purposes, but they're not "cycled" back into being another tetrapak.

It's also a very energy intensive procedure so even if it's possible to use some of the materials again, it's by no means as environmentally friendly as products that can be recycled for their purpose. Take for instance glass bottles and aluminium cans, they can both be recycled into glass bottles and aluminium cans.

Some places also reuse glass bottles by cleaning them. This also costs energy, but not as much as grinding it down and heating it to produce new glass.

Aluminium cans are probably the best single use beverage container as of now.

The best one is not to get one in the first place. Reduce, reuse, recycle, reclaim.

    Tetrapak is in the "reclaim".

Carrying a personal reusable water bottle is a good idea, because it reduces the production of singular use containers.

  • Chips
  • Looks like those are crisps and not chips.

Crisps could theoretically be made from fries, chips cannot.

In order to be a chip, it literally has be a "chip" of a potato.

Crisps can be made from anything.

  • Hitler visits the International Automobile Exhibition in Berlin, 1937.
  • It's bicycle with a helping engine, but it's not electric.

The thing that looks like a battery is the fuel tank. The engine is the metal attachment left and below of the center of the back wheel.

  • Police in New York shoot and kill 13-year-old holding a pellet gun, authorities say

I have a feeling the officially released footage might also not portray the incident in its entirety..

  • I just wanted the cheap pizza
  • It's almost as if the generation that taught us to "decide with your heart", "do what you love", "you can be everything you dream of", etc.etc. has suddenly decided to focus and rule the world by irrelevant talking points instead of staying true to their own beliefs and teaching.

I hope that whatever happens in the next decade at the dying breath of that generation will not set the precedent for following inhabitants of this planet. I, being gen-x, am doing as much as I can to enable people to younger than me to have better opportunities than I ever had. (Union stuff.)

The difference being that I acknowledge that younger people are more capable. My parents generation never understood that. They still cling to the belief that age equals wisdom. Maybe their parents taught them that. There is some truth to it, but he cutting point is a lot lower than they believe. The peak of capability is probably closer to 25 than 80...

Edit. Anyway. The world depends on the American election. Mostly because the world needs USA to be successful in order to maintain a stable balance in world politics. The last Trump period was basically what fucked it up in the first place and I have no expectations of it being any better at a second term, on the contrary.

Please vote for Biden. Sure, he's old (please attend to primaries next time...) and Hillary was too, but Trump is still the most senile of them all. I get it. It was funny to vote in some jackass to stir shit up, but that's not really what happened. All he achieved was to play golf and let radical idiots run the place down..

It's not even about the talking points. He spits in every direction, so it doesn't even matter. He will not fulfill any of the most modest expectations of any of the talking points whether or not you agree with them. He's going to play golf and let random asslickers run the place, again. That's not democracy.

  • A ton of job postings might actually be fake
  • I doubt they do it just to scare employees. It's way too expensive to use this tactic without having any real savings to show.

It's probably more likely that HR is keeping HR busy, because what else are they supposed to do when the company isn't hiring? The explanation that it supposedly keeps employees in check seems like something HR would say to justify their own purpose.

Any (reasonable) CEO would absolutely take thee easy and actual savings of firing the HR instead of paying them to use this unproven pseudo-tactic.

  • Lemmy is the best social media
  • She's more of a Devils advocate. Just stating the wrong opinion for others to explain what's right. There's never any clever comeback, so I kind of think that's the reason for her to shitpost so heavily.

I've blocked plenty of trolls here, but not her, yet.

question about online tabs and fonts

How do I best view tabs from pages like ultimate guitar and others on a phone browser, so that the chords and lyrics match up? I know on pc they usually show up fine in notepad or with ASCII fixed sys font, but I can't quite figure out how to set it up for easy browsing on an android phone. I tried copying it to other apps but none of them have a fixed width font.

    How do you do it?

    Denmark - Saba - Sand

Denmark just had the national entry contest today.

The winner was Saba with the song "Sand". Linked in the post.

The top three final also included the 2014 winner Basim with the song "Johnny" and Janus Wiberg from Faroe Islands with the song "I need your love". Both received more audience votes than the winner, but the jury votes had put Saba ahead from the start.

    Nicky Guerrero - hand plant

A local skatepark held an official opening inviting Rune Glifberg and Nicky Guerrero to do a demo. The weather was tricky, but in between rain they managed to pull off a few tricks in the deep end. I didn't get a good photo of Rune.

    Old chest (solved)
imgbox.com imgbox - fast, simple image host

Use imgbox to upload, host and share all your images. It's simple, free and blazing fast!

I am restoring an old chest and while removing a cover under the lid I found this label. As you can see, it's completely undecipherable except for "***halle & co." However there's another label underneath it. I wonder if I can separate them by putting it in water (like stamps off an envelope), but I'm afraid of destroying it if it has any value whatsoever.

The chest is made of wood and metal, but it's in a horrible state. Hinges and screws have been replaced prior to my owning, and the wood is damaged. I plan on restoring it, but would like to know it's history. Judging by materials and the label, I recon this is from 1900-1940s and American.

Optifine won't install on Linux Cinnamon

I'm trying to install Optifine on a Linux Mint Cinnamon laptop. Minecraft Java edition of course.

The game works and has been launched in version 1.20.1, but the Optifine installer keeps saying that I need run version 1.20.1 first.

Also, the installer is already pointing at the correct directory as default, but when I browse the location from the installer, I can't see or set the .minecraft directory manually.

    blur - wembley

Now, I've been to many concerts and even several blur concerts, but this one felt .. special. Even better than the Hyde park concerts 10+ years ago. Anyone else there?

To me it was like watching their proudest achievement and also delivering on it. Maybe I'm just in awe of the brimfull Wembley stadium shouting along on Park Life, but it definitely felt like this was the final grand stadium concert. I've seen Aerosmith, Green Day, Guns'n'Roses and other larger bands on a full arenas before, but those didn't even come close to this. Despite everything being extremely professionally and on time, they managed to break the wall between the stage and the 90000 in audience.

I'm not even a blur fan as such, but I do acknowledge that their contribution to music is way way underappreciated, or maybe it actually isn't?

The warm-ups sucked, but I think those were a local thing, but the main band really came across brilliantly. I dunno..this was beyond just great, and I have no hopes of ever seeing anything this grand again.

    wheel recommendations for park/bowl?

My Formula 4s got flat spots, sounding like a moped when I ride the bowl. I'm looking for larger sizes from 56mm upwards. I need mostly for very smooth surfaces and high speed, but sometimes also rougher concrete. I don't have a need for ultra soft wheels.
