I've heard of beholders, but I never knew they were supposed to be racist??
What about little beholders, like Spectators?

Oh yeah, beholders are SO racist, they basically assume that every other race is disgustingly inferior to them, and so are other types of beholders. And it's not just illithid style "We're objectively better than you" racism, beholders are certain that all kobolds are out to get them, because that's just what their kind does.
It's rampant xenofobia, more than just racism. With a emphasis on the "fobia" part.

yeah, Lovecraft didn't hide his racist opinions in his works. makes reading them an awkward experience. and it's always petty and unnecessary racism too

Lovecraft's injected racism is so stupid and petty that before I read up on the man I assumed it was commentary on racism that went over my head.
