Literally nobody. Even an alliance of Russia+China+EU+help from Canada and South America would lose. The US is geographically impossible to invade, and this can only change if the US breaks apart.
As the federal government gets fucked and our influence on the world stage plummets, it's in the best interest of every empire on earth to stoke regional division in the long run. It won't be hard to convince the future rulers; all you need is to promise oligarchs and warlords a kingdom of their own to run so long as they dismantle the federal government. This will be an absolutely awful experience and things will not settle down or become less violent.
The US military will take a while to deconstruct and I'm not sure how long it will take, but it won't happen under Trump's rule. I have no doubts that he can maintain control until he dies, so we better count ourselves lucky that he's already so old. If he had more than a decade left on the clock, we'd be even more fucked than we are now.
How it feels to be the most consistent egg_irl poster 2+ years into my transition:
I'm not sure if all the eggs on Lemmy have already cracked, or if Lemmy users just aren't fans of egg memes. Either way, I think it's a shame, as egg_irl back on reddit was helpful for me once upon a time.
My dumbass spent years lurking on trans subreddits without seriously getting outside of my comfort zone about my own identity. At the time, I only saw being trans as "something that other people experienced;" people who weren't me. I still felt like I related to trans people; an odd affinity that I assumed was related to my sexuality or neurodivergence. I may have figured things out given enough time, but considering how suicidal I was back then, time could've easily ran out instead.
I was genuinely terrified of egg_irl once I found it. I would browse it until uncomfortable feelings overtook me, causing me to run away for several days and block it out of my conscious awareness. Unlike many people, I wasn't really in the closet about my gender identity before then; I genuinely had no idea. I have a disconnect between my conscious awareness and my emotions, preferences, and desires (Alexithymia). I literally need to try something and observe my own reaction to know if I like it. I never experienced crossdressing or playing as a girl growing up, so I couldn't have known how much better it feels.
Egg_irl is a liminal space, as all eggs tend to crack or repress themselves from living true. Egg memes become increasingly less interesting as being your true gender becomes your new normal. I'm just a woman now, a real person instead of the empty husk of the past. Despite that, I still try to post regularly so that this place stays relevant on the fediverse. I know for a fact that trans memes on Lemmy can help people find themselves. However, I know that I can't keep this place alive on my own.
I'm calling on other trans and questioning people to post here more. Whether you're still unsure of yourself, or you simply haven't been able to fully transition, this place could use more posts from people who are closer to being an egg than I am. I can only remember so much about my own experiences, so I can't capture the full depths of what it's like to be traveling that path. Please help me keep the nest warm.
The only difference is how much damage each is currently capable of doing. The former would be just as bad given the means, while the latter currently has the means. I personally think it's better to simply silence and shun fascists without means, while fascists with means should be dealt with in whatever way leads to the most success. That all depends on your own circumstances in relation to them. I suspect harming the interests that support fascism is more effective, as the fascist movement will probably only be strengthened by hurting foot soldiers.

The New York Times is a bottom of the barrel rag at this point. I blame Transphobia Brainrot Syndrome (TBS), which is where people become so obsessed with taking down trans people that their brains leak out their ears.
My understanding is that this community is US news, not world news. I really hate that it was set up this way, especially on lemmy.world, but that is why most stories here are about Trump. His reign affects every news story in the US, as the context of living under fascism implicitly colors all of them.
Probably because they're cultivating a readership of rich liberals who actually have the money to donate and pay. The media cannot be representative of popular sentiments under a capitalist system, and it only becomes worse with increasing wealth inequality. Economics bend the news to be a propaganda arm of wealthy interests more than a way to provide accurate news. Those with money pay to print what they want to hear and want other people to hear. The world is only built for those with power.

It was not Trump voters who earned us our future, but the billionaires who made the Democrats so shit that fascism seemed like a good idea. The rich have all the power, and thus, all of the responsibility.
