I'm in the UK, I want to know everyone listed on the files. They can all be investigated whether they're left, right or British royalty. They're criminals of the very worst kind and the victims deserve justice and we deserve them being locked away so they can't do it again.

It's always so funny to me when I see people on the right act like we wouldn't care if someone on "our side" was on the list.

I didn't think they're willing to accept this isn't another "us vs them" situation. They're unable to frame it any other way, even if it's an issue we're in agreement on.

The problem is that they believe their in-group to be categorically innocent. They have a double standard of when a rightwinger does X then it’s good, but when anybody else does X then it’s bad. And when they are lawmakers and judges doling out who gets affected, they will keep their in-group clean.

This is a huge difference between Republican and Democrat voters. One side protects their own, and the other wants people to answer for their crimes.

Right? Even before he was in Congress he was a comedian. If I recall correctly, during a live performance for troops, I think, he pretended to grope a female wearing a flak vest. It was all in jest with everyone laughing about it on the video. The female victim didn't even think it was a big deal, if I recall, and didn't think he should have any punishment for it. It was so disheartening to watch it all play out.
The right is fine using cancel culture to force a Democrat to resign, but Republicans literally lie, cheat, steal, and harass and there's nothing but crickets from them.

It is embarrassing to acknowledge that I was alive in the 90s and literally everyone blamed Monica Lewinsky for her actions. She was a 22 year old staffer, predated on by the most powerful man in the world and the entire public dialogue was centered around her choices "as an adult." It is just shameful how it was handled in the public dialogue.
I'm glad that she survived the ordeal and is now a thriving advocate for victims.

I like that Trump has started saying Obama is in the files - like that would make the left want to keep them hidden.
The modern American right has institutions like Fox News and Sinclair. Those are laser focused on daily PR initiatives to protect its crooks. The left doesn’t have laser focused institutions like that. They’re comically disorganized, and as a result, and the base isn’t hearing the exact same spin from all of their media channels.
Even if Obama was in those files, a PR effort to protect him wouldn’t be effective, and the left wing voters wouldn’t want to protect him.

He's saying this rhetoric for his base, his supporters are his only political capital and it's a strong one. He is preserving the narrative.
The people who hang on his every word like it's WWE theater with villains and bad guys ONLY understand this story in terms of good guys and bad guys, they cannot conceive of the "other side" not seeing it the same way, they get angry at the notion that there are people who aren't locked into the personality narratives, it's not a matter of consistency or hypocrisy to them, they don't give a shit about that because... again... it's a narrative, a story. Stories have good guys and bad guys and plot twists, and if you say you don't care, you're just saying you're not involved in the story so why are you even talking about it?
Trying to explain this to them from the outside, from a "meta" perspective is like trying to convince your 17-year-old cousin Kyle that WWE isn't real. He will look at you blank and get mad and punch a hole in the wall because you're trying to make him feel bad, not that you're revealing anything about the show. He doesn't CARE about if the show is real or not. Cognitive dissonance is hardwired into much of our population's brains, Trump's crew just found a way to connect it to politics in a cheap, easy-to-digest format, just like he learned while working with WWE and reality TV.
The more we say "I don't care, expose them too" it only makes maga chuds tune out and ignore you. You're just saying to them that you're not involved and don't care about the story.
This is really hard for a lot of people with more than a few hundred brain cells to comprehend but if we accepted sooner that this is how people engage in politics in this country we probably could have written better stories ourselves a lot sooner and engaged at least a portion of these mindless guthogs away from Trump and AT LEAST got them to not vote.

How can you guys tell that conservatives think Americans will care about Clinton? Doesn't that assume logic? An understanding of how we think?
I'm pretty sure they're just repeating what they've heard.
We call them racist, so they shout "that's racist!" at us.
We call their actions unconstitutional, so they say leftist policies are unconstitutional.
They don't care about science or evidence or even internal consistency. Yet we gotta pretend like they're... substantial. As if anything they say is serious.
