This Simpsons episode is from 1994. It is older than some users on Lemmy discussing party politics.
It's almost like we've been having the same problems for literal decades...
I'm a little bit older than this, but with the invention of the Internet I always notice the same conversations about the same stuff always pops up every time something happens again or repeats.
And not just party politics, even global or regional events. Young people act like Israel vs Palestine is new. That's been going back and forth for a few centuries. Even when the countries were called something else.
Israel vs Palestine isn't really a few centuries old, more like just one. That situation was almost completely created by the British in the 20th century, during and after WWI. They had the Palestinians help to overthrow the Ottoman rulers of the area in exchange for a promise of statehood.
I don’t think the internet has anything to do with it. From what I have been told and seen myself teenagers always act like they are the first to do or notice things no matter what generation it is.

If you mean in the sense of invading foreign powers, sure.
'97 here. I want out.
I forgot this happened.
Don't forget the golden Trump statue.
Evangelicals are literally staring a golden calf in the face and can't put 2 and 2 together.
The Democrat slogan should be "we're slightly less evil".
“bOtH sIdEs R sAmE”
Democrats are soft corrupt. Republicans are hard corrupt.
Still the same corruption though.
Why are you quoting Gavin Newsom?
Using spongetext and quotation marks really hammers the point home
Was that not their campaign?
Literally Democrat supporters rail on "lesser evil" mantra. So yeah.
"Also won't hurt our corporate sponsors"
It's campaigning for the apocalypse vs wanting a dystopia. I hate dystopia, but omg, people downplay how much worse an apocalypse would be. People really forget about the outsourced concentration camps that are ramping up, finding the silver lining in more people dying needlessly.
It may be the liberals that are responsible for this mess, but don't think for a second that leftists aren't first on the chopping block. Don't think for a second that acceleration will help dismantle capitalism; it'll only make libs beg the rich for the good ole days of liberal imperialism. Fascism will be a convenient scapegoat for them to deflect blame for their failures, and not enough people will care to accept the unfortunate truth.
Trump getting elected was an absolute disaster. The worst possible outcome. No amount of copium will bring back the people who will die.
It’s never been that the dems aren’t capable of governing. They absolutely can. They just don’t represent us and we deserve better.
