  • I mean, technically yes. The courts didn't prosecute Trump for his role in the coup attempt, and Trump pardoned everyone who faced legal penalty. Everything about Jan 6 has been determined to be okay and cool by the current US government.

It's almost like things that are lawful are not inherently moral or right. Slavery is still lawful in the U.S.

  • Which part of DEI do you hate?
  • The biggest issue with this take is that merit/test score is still the biggest factor. For example, a law firm is not passing over well-qualified white candidates to hire unqualified black candidates, they're just trying to hire more well-qualified black candidates because they're currently an all-white firm. Nobody is ever getting a job as an act of charity, and typically it just helps to avoid implicit hiring bias. To go back to the example, why has the law firm become all white? Well the first two partners were white, and even if they aren't offensively racist they still have enough internal bias that they only hired other white workers. Like in this example, most DEI initiatives are about reducing existing internal biases.

  • Why aren't all of you as vocal about Trump as you were Biden and Harris?

Literally today. Just because you don't give a shit about Palestine and are ignoring their struggle, doesn't suddenly make it stop. The same groups who were protesting the genocide when it was happening under Biden are still out there protesting.

I can't help but feel like the Dems end goal with this kinda bullshit is to try and manufacture this idea that leftist outrage over Gaza is entirely fabricated. We couldn't really care about brown people, we must have made up a bunch of nasty lies to make Kamala Harris look bad! It's really self-telling that they can't imagine genocide would be a bridge too far.

  • Billionaire Musk bought control of US government and conspiracy theorists sure are quiet | Opinion
  • Right, and how exactly is the group that decries capitalism meant to obtain financial support, or break through the righ-wing captured media?

Capitalism is fundamentally incompatible with leftist ideology, and will do everything in its power to squash it.

  • Surely the supreme court...
  • Literally the outcome of this election was guaranteed back in August. The second the Harris/Walz started polling at 50/50 was when a contested election became the best possible outcome, and a contested election was always going to be awarded to Trump through the captured Supreme Court.

I get that libs are disappointed that the country just gave him the keys without a fight, but Trump was prepared for that fight. It's why they kept shouting that our election was a sham and already decided; they knew they would steal the election if necessary. Dems were never going to do anything to stop it, same as they did nothing for Gore vs Bush.

  • Trump pauses tariffs on Canada for at least 30 days, Trudeau says
  • I see this less as caving to the bully and more grown-ups playing with a child. They know they can just nod their heads and play in Trump's fentanyl fairytale land for a phone call, and that gives them a whole extra month for more trade deals that will make them less reliant on the U.S. The only one losing here is Trump, who just looks like a petulant toddler getting played like a rube, but I suspect he's too stupid to see it that way.

  • Mexican president reveals U.S. concession Trump failed to mention as tariffs paused
  • I have a very hard time imagining Trump will keep his word, but you gotta respect Sheinbaum for getting as much as she could. Trump might be feeling very pro gun control now that he's in power though, so maybe there's hope for a broader deal to help secure Mexico's border from the flow of illegal American firearms.

  • MultiVersus Dev Calls Out ‘Threats to Harm’ Following Shutdown Announcement: ‘I Am in Deep Mourning for the Game’ - IGN
  • Guys, death threats for developers are never okay.

Send em to the capitalist publishers who forced the devs to do this dumbass shit. I cannot stand people blaming the lowest members on the corporate ladder for decisions made at an executive level. If you want to know who was behind this decision, his name sounds like a Batman villain and he's ruined a lot more media than this.
