This is too abstract for most Americans to understand. But talk about it as much as you can; to friends, family, coworkers, anyone. As things get worse and the coup resorts to physical enforcement against resistance, people may start to get a clue.
And while I’m here, a hardy “fuck you” to: Trump voters, non-voters, $hill Stein voters! Oh sure, Harris was far from idealized perfection… But lesser of two evils is often all you can hope for in this world. Maybe start voting in the small elections -not just the big national ones- if you want experienced, alternative candidates to work their way up.
Sorry to say but even you picked up this "lesser of two evils" narrative they pushed. She was fine, but they had to vilify her somehow.
The easy way for me to explain it is such. The executive branches job is to execute the bills passed by the legislature. If the executive branch does not execute the things our representatives agreed on in the legislature, then it is no longer a republic, it is a dictatorship. The sanctions on Russia passed the house and Senate and were signed by the president. For them to simply disband the enforcement groups and are not going to enforce those sanctions means your representatives no longer matter, it is not a republic.
Taking this at face value... what exactly can a regular person do about this? A lot of congressmen already don't like what is going on. Complaining to them seems like preaching to the choir.
Get as many people as you can to go to their state capitals or nearest government building and camp out. If that doesnt work the founding fathers expected us to literally challenge the government by force ourselves. Hints the state's monopoly on violence.
Complaining to them is what they're there for. Make it clear to the ones who represent you that you demand action on this. That's the whole point of them having a job in the first place.
Beyond that, I would say what regular people can do is organize anarchically so that as the empire continues to collapse, we have structures in place.
Meet your neighbors and start thinking about how to exist without a state.
