My wage was nearly unchanged for 15 years(a total increase of €16 per month) while i watched rent and groceries triple in cost.
It all started like: your wage is low, here's help with the rent insurance and bills plus you'll be locked into the low rent segment.
Right now they claim i have a high wage and am locked in the high rent segment with no support anymore.
My father however never had the oppertunity to buy and is still renting according to the old rules and pays a third of what i pay for twice the space. His retirement is almost identical to my income.
Yeah it's definitely conditional and worse the younger you are. If you own a place or have owned a place for a while your overall cost of living is treading water and in some cases even going down over time. That's definitely not the case for renters.
Psychology treatment, has replaced priests, your problems are somewhere within yourself and your outcomes the result of mysterious ways. Both are agents of the State.
I can't look at the news, people get so high and mighty when you tell them you avoid politics. Even if you still vote.
"You're the reason why there's so and so ruining things!!"
"I guess you don't care about your future huh?"
"Yeah go hide in your hole"
Bitch, I have HEART PROBLEMS from stress, I literally cannot be absorbing that shit. And even if I didn't have this problem, fucking leave it, it's not your business how people try to cope in this shit hole of a reality,
Everyone has a response to this that contains a "but"
Being overly informed is a trap. You definitely don't need to know every bowel movement Trump takes. I'm sure they'll eventually prove scientifically that consuming the constant barrage of doom news impairs your ability to effectively plan, reason, and organize. The political news ecosystem in this country seems intended to give everyone ADHD.
To clarify though, the news isn't really politics. The news is theatre.
I agree that people can live their reality how they want but it also has to be remembered that everything is political so if you avoid politics it's hard to complain when things aren't going your way. Particularly if you live in a democratic system.
This video by the UK's Electoral Commission always sticks in my mind about politics
I feel like you're sidestepping my entire point here. Nobody who's actively avoiding politics is complaining about things not going their way, they're too busy focusing on their mental health.
This planet has - or rather had - a problem, which was this: most of the people living on it were unhappy for pretty much of the time. Many solutions were suggested for this problem, but most of these were largely concerned with the movement of small green pieces of paper, which was odd because on the whole it wasn't the small green pieces of paper that were unhappy.
I really feel like it's time to worry about making a sustainable, entirely local effort to stop playing the game, and just have your own sources of necessity, like farms, ranches, people willing to build shelter, and just stop doing all this exterior shit. Because pretty soon here in the US the open corruption of kleptocrats is going to inevitably lead to everyone else not caring about the rules no one is paying to be enforced.
I’ve thought the same except climate change will lead to more rolling disasters. For instance, wouldn’t it be great to homestead, but what if extreme heat kills all your crops? You’re dead. This is a global problem that will only change through social change or not and 99% of us die.
Well, you've got to climate-proof it. At least try to. Hydroponics, which, if done right, is both more space efficient, less susceptible to disease and environmental hindrances, and requires much less water. Solar power generation loves the sun and the cells will not really care how hot it is (in realistic environments), they will only get more efficient. Go subterranean to a degree, and have your architecture style be inspired by things like Earthships.
Freshwater can be gotten from wells, rain traps or dehumidifiers. If you want animals, you will have to hold them in buildings similar to your own dwelling.
Keep in mind that this advice is for if you expect it to get hot in your area. However, parts of Europe will tend to get colder due to climate change, at least at certain times of the year.
