/r/Conservative is hitting the front page almost every day now...with (relatively) low upvotes.
I wish we could see up/downvotes like in the past. I think reddit may be artificially boosting some posts into the front page. You can see in the screenshot it has very little upvotes (or older) compared to the other top 4 posts.
I have no evidence other than noticing right after the election, /r/conservative seems to be hitting the front page every day. But I remember before the election, it only hit the front page once in a blue moon or so. Is this just me? Am I the only one noticing this?
This is what happens when you make your website amenable to conservatives. That sub has grown more popular through the years and it's thanks to its satellites like KiA and others that organized and spread conservative messaging.
And right now they're taking victory laps so of course it's got a lot of activity
I'm pretty sure the reddit algorithm tailors itself to your behavior. If you go to or click on a post from a certain sub, it'll increase how often it shows up in your feed. Downvote and it'll decrease how often it shows up. Also, it pushes posts that have a high upvote count compared to baseline for that sub instead of purely on upvote count.
Lmao dude have you ever actually looked at the restrictions on the vast majority of the popular posts on /r/conservative? It’s honestly comical. They’re super locked down.
i don't miss those +1k comment threads, scrolling them gets annoying, also, i recused from commenting if there was already +150, otherwise was like talking to the void
Its interesting that on lemmy almost everyone gets some kind of upvote/downvote (interaction) whereas on reddit and other sites, you either get viral success or...nothing. No upvotes/downvotes no interactions. My theory is the algorithm + number of people de-humanizes the act of communication in such large communities.
I enjoyed the void, commenting into the void was my favorite pastime til I did it on an alt and got autopermbanned, some thread with thousands of comments and it instabanned all my alts and main account
It’s where all the ML Wumao flocked. They killed the Democratic Party, now they’re going after the republicans. They don’t care about Gaza, it’s all about starting an American civil war.
It always annoyed me when a post reached the front page and they limited who was allowed to comment on it. I usually didn’t even know what sub I was in until after I typed my comment and clicked submit. Followed by auto mod deleting my post.
I forgot how much I hated that about Reddit. Good riddance.
I always hated that reddit goes for roller coaste algorithim, you cant get max dopamine youll be satisfied and youll leave, instead you need the highs and lows from controversy to maximize the amount of ads we see, I was so over it when ads started showing up inbetween comments
I don't notice anything on Reddit because I never go there anymore. I swear some of y'all treating Reddit like that ex you never shut up about and keep stalking every five minutes to check if their life turned out better than yours.
Edit: My bad guys. Didn't pay attention to what community this post was in.
Not saying your wrong lol. But this is the /c/reddit community. We are not going to go and post on reddit about this (well not anymore). And my local community is not going to remove themselves on reddit unless something pretty horrific happens. I like fediverse more (so im supporting that).
Does it also count if you don't stalk your ex yourself but do stalk a community dedicated to stalking that exact same ex?
I like to hear the shit that goes down there (and other sites) for multiple reasons.
so i can discuss these ongoing enshitification with friends i know still frequent it and are not on the fediverse.
to archive/understand/study the dynamics of enshitificication/collapse/fascist momentum so i may learn how to defend against those and if successful educate others.
to deliver dopamine to my brain by feeding the inbuild superiority complex within my human mind. Most of us enjoy seeing our choices redeemed. Shallow and primitive yes but so is arguable 90% of social media.
