Biden did a lot of deeply frustrating and very wrongheaded things, but Garland for AG, imo, cleanly takes the cake. I genuinely cannot think of a more feckless, functionally useless, and societally harmful nomination that he made.

- Insurers are categorically not “providing healthcare”. They’re fucking profiteering middlemen making hay in a domain with inelastic, concrete, largely non-deferrable demand. In the medical industry, “payors” (insurers) are an entirely distinct category of entities from “providers” (doctors).
- it’s not dangerous to everyone. It’s only dangerous to medical insurance C-suites.

Overall, there’s WAY less motive here for karma farming, primarily because global karma/vote counts aren’t a thing that’s tracked on lemmy. Actual reputation that you establish as you interact with communities here is more important, which is one of the reasons I like lemmy a lot more than reddit.

The president looked and sounded better than he did in the debate, but repeatedly dismissed and denied widespread concerns about him and his campaign.
Personal commentary: reading the summary (I did not watch the interview live), I’m not really seeing anything that assuages my concerns about his mental acuity. More importantly, I’m not seeing anything that indicates he’s being anything even close to as pragmatic as Macron is being with the election they’re doing now in France, with regards to just trying to make sure the fascists do not fucking win. I must admit I’m feeling quite pessimistic about things.
