Except for the times they couldn't, such as In the cases of Hugh, Icheb, and Endgame's Janeway vs Borg Queen.
Okay maybe the last one isn't fair since Janeway did have the future advantage. But the other cases showed that entire cubes were lost to this sort of attack.

I think what they meant is they choose to assimilate based on the information they know.
That’s why they didn’t assimilate the Kazon (I think that’s cannon, but maybe just a meme), but they didn’t know the issues with Icheb or Future Janeway and it seemed totally safe to assimilate themZ

Without spoilers, if you haven't seen the last season of Lower Decks, let's just say Harry being a perpetual ensign was not forgotten.

Wouldn't a double promotion be to Lieutenant? Kim is an Ensign, next is Lieutenant Junior Grade, and then full Lieutenant.
But then again, when has voyager ever made sense? Jk.
Maybe it's bc this is forever-Ensign Kim under discussion here? A double promotion for him might end up being "Ensign"! 🫠🤪🤡
Like they add new ranks below him and then demote him to them, just to be able to "promote" him back to Ensign each time?:-)
