I've always thought a Jedi could do amazing things with a blaster. If they have to have a light saber, then just put the blaster in their other hand. Best of both worlds?
(Or just stop your enemy's heart with your mind. Or use your super-fast running abilities to jab a fork in your enemy's eye or something.)
"Don't worry Anikin, I've set my saber to 'joy buzzer' strength."
What if we banned all advertising? Not regulate it—abolish it. This proposal would transform manipulation machines, and maybe save democracy itself. A thought experiment worth considering.

>The idea feels like sci-fi because you're so used to it, imagining ads gone feels like asking to outlaw gravity. But humanity had been free of current forms of advertising for 99.9% of its existence. Word-of-mouth and community networks worked just fine. First-party websites and online communities would now improve on that. > >The traditional argument pro-advertising—that it provides consumers with necessary information—hasn't been valid for decades.

Here we go! c/shmups' first ever game of the month is Mushihimesama, by Cave.
It's most accessible on Steam, but if you've got a copy on Switch (now deslisted from the eshop), Xbox 360, or PS2, we'll take all versions. (Even emulation, but due to legal issues, we won't be able to directly assist with that.)
So let's go for it! This is meant to be fun and casual, so don't worry about getting top rank, just do your best!
Progress posts, score posts -- all Mushihimesama content is welcome and encouraged! Let's us know how the grind is going! Share strats and routes! Ask your fellow shmuppers for help or encouragement.
Top scores and 1CCs in each category (Novice, 1.5, Black Label, etc.) will be decided on April 31st, and featured in the sidebar

Unlike the one in NYC, the homes here aren't skyscrapers, just huge, galling mansions. There's even a handy map that makes them easy to find.
"Incomplete and frustrating"

My take: It would be nice if this collection contained everything ever associated with Gradius, but: 1) The Gradius franchise is HUGE, and porting every game into a collection would take years, and cost a lot more money; and let's face it shooters are a niche product, even famous ones like Gradius. And 2) There's every possibility that -- depending on how well Origins sells -- there will be another collection eventually.
From what I've seen, this package will be well worth the money for me. But we'll see how it goes.
For Nintendo Switch & PS4

Nintendo’s Famicom game console had an implementation of the BASIC programming language available for the system. The Family BASIC cartridge is studied, and a space shooter game is programmed with it.

Cool idea! But I'd give up almost instantly if I tried something like this.
