Rise of Skywalker was the last Star Wars property I'll ever watch. I haven't even watched the originals ever since then.
Others are free to feel differently, but Disney killed Star Wars. I'm not even angry, I don't feel anything about Star Wars anymore, aside from apathy.
I mean I still don't like the phantom menance. Its been back and forth with much more back. I was basically thinking the same thing though. Who cares at this point as the ip of everything disney touches is just butchered. Im pretty sure the marvel stuff was only as good as it was because of the influence of stan lee. It sickens me with all the things under thier umbrella now.
The fact that they feel handcuffed at all is the issue I have with the entire Disney Star Wars run. If these were being made out of a sense of love and passion for the Star Wars universe, the lore would serve as a rich well of inspiration to draw from. It's only a problem because these are all soulless cashgrabs designed to make money first and be Star Wars second.
Disney purchased a brand name and that’s it. Star Wars is now whatever they want it to be, as depressing as it is. But let’s not pretend they ever intended to treat it with respect. No, they wanted to slap the Star Wars logo on some shitty merch and only make the films because they have to keep the brand name relevant.
So it's going to be about the Dai Bendu and the founding of the Jedi order on Ahch-To? Sith will be an actual species on the planet Korriban? We'll see Prof Huyang's early years and the discovery of Ilum, the use of proto-sabers. It will end with the founding of the first Galactic Republic.
Apologies to Mr. Mangold, but if he thinks he can create a Star Wars product in a time without existing lore, he's quite mistaken.
