The funny thing is that NOAA and NWS are part of the Department of Commerce, the department that directly works with businesses to ensure that goods and services can plan for the weather. They track ocean currents, wind patterns, and yes temperature changes.
The accuracy of their models have become so good that we have pretty darn good forecasting now.
All so that Walmart can buy shovels in time for the next snow storm.
Yet they want to do a way with the agency because climate change is now a woke issue.
Talk about biting off your nose to spit at your opponent.
As well as Christian sharia law and corporate greed. It's horrifying and we'll be too mired in a fascist hellhole to get to enjoy the fact that they'll have ended the US as a world power, which will fuck them over, too.
Why wouldn't it be? A lot of under-informed liberals automatically hate them, and their potential for owner donor profits when under-regulated is enormous.
Things like the fact that, if used right, they're the best weapon we have against the coming climate change caused starvation doesn't factor into GOP calculations. Because they don't plan to even TRY feeding anyone not paying them a premium for it.
Shout-out to when Rick Perry wanted to abolish the department of energy, not knowing it's responsible for maintaining our nations nuclear weapons, international treaty monitoring for nukes, and nuclear waste management and cleanup.
Texas man think government energy bad. Must abolish.
That's untrue, because he won't need a Sharpie anymore. They will just be reporting whatever Trump wants them to report. There is no hurricane. Here's some paper towel. This will all blow over by Easter.
Of course there's no hurricane. Trump personally nuked it. In unrelated news, all US nukes are henceforth required to have a pussy for trump to grab them by.
Privatizing NOAA and selling it off to AccuWeather for a song, so that AccuWeather can then sell the data back at a hefty profit, is how you make oodles of money in this country.
The whole thing about the sharpie makes one wonder what is dumber, the suggestion itself or the base that would believe it.
The reason why the circles are growing is to show uncertainty where the hurricane might go. The sharpie drawing shows that whomever drew it completely misunderstood what the map was showing.
If I remember correctly the sharpie map was because Trump tweeted that Alabama was going to be affected and then after people called NOAA and they said Alabama was fine, Trump instead of admitting his mistake, repeated on Twitter that he was correct culminating in a press conference where he presented an official NOAA map that had sharpie drawn into Alabama.
Are we able to say Simpsons predicted the Republican Party mostly just being a gaggle of the most despicable sorts of people congregating mostly out of spite for the decent morally upright society the rest of us try to participate in?
