I work with many people who are so upset over this, calling it injustice and how horrible that we choose to prosecute Trump when we should instead be jailing Hillary, Harris, and Biden.

Biden returned the documents before they even know they were gone and he was the one who told them he had them. Trump refused to return the documents when they were requested back and he is caught on tape admitting to knowing he wasn't supposed to have them. Also he asked his lawyers to destroy evidence.

Huge difference between a crime with someone cooperating and someone who tries to destroy evidence. Also the content of trump's documents seem like they're higher level and more highly classified.

This is a bigger deal. These federal charges are way more serious than what he's facing in New York.

Telling authorities you don't have top secret classified documents at your residence and allowing them to search certain rooms and then having them come back later with a warrant and finding them hidden in a bathroom (that they weren't allowed into originally) is really really bad.
It makes his other charge of using campaign donations for personal reasons look like jaywalking.
He was processed in New York, too. I'm going to guess that he's going to go through this process at least once more (in Georgia). I don't think he'll need to be fingerprinted and processed again if there are other federal charges while these are pending, but charges related to Jan. 6 might change his bail or conditions of release.
This is the biggest deal, imo. Having nuclear secrets, audio of him admitting he was breaking the law - and the public knowing about that, to me says they have much more ammo they'll be bringing to light in trial. I think he's screwed. I don't want to hold my breath, but this seems like it will really take him down.

So under arrest really means he checked into the courts and said "Yup, I am fighting this legal charge." and walked away.

That would probably depend on which instance you're using.

- That's my understanding. The only challenge is searching for news communities but not knowing where the instance is geographically.

The fact is that the whole world is addicted to US news and everyone wants to know what happens to Trump. Like it or not, the US is still the country that everyone else looks to, even if it's just to shit on it.

- Personally, I think the CIA is also pissed at him after mysteriously losing tons of informants in 2020 and 2021. There are probably papers that trump mishandled that are so classified that they can't be used in the indictment, cause that would be releasing them. I do not like either the DOD or CIA, but if there are two groups in this entire world who I would not want to piss off, its DOD and the CIA.
It's hard to believe that after all this time he'll actually go down, but there's no way the prosecution didn't pull overtime to make doubly sure that this is going to stick.

I am from Poland and didn't really follow the whole case. Can someone explain me why there is a thread that he will be arrested? It is hard to find the origin as the whole case exploded.

He took top secret documents when he left the white house. They don't belong to him, they're meant to be secured in the library of congress or something. Anyway, librarians tried to get them back, he said no, did a bunch of illegal shit (including flashing them around people he wanted to impress) so FBI got involved, raided his place, found more secret documents, special prosecutor was appointed who took ages really nailing the iron clad case together. Now he been arraigned in court facing federal charges. Because Trumps a dumb shit.

Trump took classified information during his time as president and failed to return them
When asked to return them he failed to comply until forced
When forced to comply, he still kept many documents the government knew were missing and lied to the government and his lawyers indicating that they were returned
Was caught on tape admitting that he knew they were classified and that it was wrong for him to have them
The first bullet point apparently happens often (Biden, Pence, Hillary have all done similarly in the past). Trump is singular in that he didn't readily comply with the request for the return of documents and the consequent lies to the government (also illegal).

I'd like to see him manage to wiggle his way out of this one. I'm not American so I'm not familiar with the systems in place and all, but from everything I've seen, well... it's not looking good for him. At all.

But honestly, with Trump legendary incompetence and ability to keep on digging his own grave, I'm barely here for the politics, this is just good entertainment at this point. Even if I know that while this is funny, this will probably be remembered as anything but.

I don't think he can actually get out of this one, but he can still litigate it to hell and back. It will depend on which judges his various challenges land in front of and what their capacity for his bullshit is. But he's 77 and eats garbage and doesn't exercise. He was arrested, booked, fingerprinted, and formally charged on 37 counts then released on the condition that he avoid contact with potential witnesses in his upcoming trial.

The article at least states that he was. But that does not necessarily mean he is in jail.

Well he already entered his pleas today, "Not Guilty", and demanded (as is his right), a jury trial. The chances for a deal with the DOJ at this point are zilch, unless they can file amended charges based on a deal to enter guilty plea to some charges?
That would look way too much like partisan coercion and would absolutely blow up in Biden and the Democrats' faces. They need to have a real iron-clad case if they're going to make this work, which means they'll need to prove it in court.

Am I missing something? I don't see where it says he's under arrest.
