Me and the boys went to Japan once and were ordering gin tonics. They gradually became stronger and stronger until they told us that they run out of tonic water.
By then we were already drunk and very loud. Must have been quite bad being on that plane and wanting to catch up on some sleep.
Sorry for that.
The plane probably had a low stock of alcohol. The drinks trolley usually goes really slowly down the aisle so all it might have taken was a dozen or so passengers ordering a couple of cans each and then they're sold out.

Why can you even order alcohol on a commercial flight?
Edit: I don't really know why I'm getting downvoted, it's a genuine question. Smoking on planes was banned in the 90s, so why is drinking still allowed? It arguably affects people around you just as much.

  Isn't it? Considering the number of people who get drunk and belligerent on planes and end up assaulting people...
- Commercially, oftentimes, goods and services are exchanged for money.
- Because it somehow seems like a huge safety hazard to have a bunch of drunk people doing drunk people stuff in a plane
- For what it's worth, smoking was probably banned because of the fire risk and how easily it annoys people nearby. Alcohol is much more contained and mostly affects the person who directly consumes it.
  Though I agree, considering how high the safety standards are in aviation, having people on board that are under the influence of drugs seems like something that should be banned.
  
  Lol with this logic you could ban people from planes. I dont think alcohol is that bad. And if they serve so much alcohol people get drunk than thats another problem. Im not the best person to be talking about this because i dont drink and i dont care if people drink.
