Can you explain what you mean by this to someone who's lived in asphalt his entire life? Is your home so far from others that the likelihood of a break-in is negligible, or is there a different meaning I'm missing?

I understand that, and called it out in my comment. Heat being a byproduct of movement does not mean that a device that creates movement "only" creates heat. That's like saying all drink dispensers only dispense piss, because what does it eventually turn in to?

Saying that all appliances turn energy to heat is true, but saying that all appliances do is turn energy in to heat is not. While heat is still a byproduct, lots of appliances make things move as well.

If you deconstruct 90% of jokes with any crude aspect, they tend to turn out like that.

I remember being like 5 and wanting to make a card for my grandma. I went to my mom's room, asked how to spell something, I think a short sentence like "I love you", and I ran back to the front room saying "I-L-O-V-E-Y-O-U-I-L-O-V-E-Y-O-U-I-L-O-V-E-Y-O-U" over and over, until I realized that I a. didn't remember where the sentence started, and b. didn't know where any of the spaces went.

If you mean to say you think he was saying it with implied quotations, no, he wasn't. Neither his voice nor body language show that.

I saw someone say that he clearly meant to say "stop protecting pedophiles", but I don't know if they were saying it sarcastically or not.

It'd be pretty funny if that's what he meant, though. "And we gotta stop protecting the pedophiles! C'mon, you've been doing it, I've been doing it, let's just all agree to knock it off."

It's hard to tell how far apart the poles are. If a piece of stock wood spans the difference, you could c-clamp one across them, if the strap ends up being too wobbly or unstable.
