  • That is incredibly strange. The only thing I'm noting is that the error looks very similar and in the same spot on both models on the print bed.. I'm assuming "consistent across prints with large flat surfaces" means that you've seen the issue on other models as well, to rule out a model error?

I agree that there appears to be the "remnants" of a previous print or something underneath though. Did you get the printer used?

  • I'm from the US and most grocery stores I've been to have so much stuff piled on the shelves you can't really see inside. I was maybe 20 or so the first time I saw a person walking around back there and was quite surprised.

  • I recently purchased the 9070XT and it's phenomenal. I will note that the Linux drivers don't seem to be as good as the Windows drivers, I get much better performance in a few games on Windows than my kubuntu install. But even the very poorly optimized borderlands 4 runs max settings at ~100FPS with frame Gen on and FSR set to performance mode.

Gotta get your stereotypes right /s

  • Our libraries have mostly moved away from this model. I may have some details mixed up but I believe there was a study done that showed books were more likely to be returned without the late fee than with a fee.

Basically people will feel ashamed or embarrassed to return a book so late (or maybe in extreme cases cannot easily afford the couple dollars) so they end up stealing the book and never returning it. So now the library has to buy a $10 book because someone couldn't pay the $5 late fee. It just makes more sense in the long run to let people bring the book back late without penalty vs not bring it back at all in fear of a fee.

  • Also your library will just buy more copies. Which means your taxes will go up to pay for the missing books.

Lolno. Libraries are getting funds cut. They will not buy a new copy, it will become unavailable, then those that would go to a library to borrow it no longer can, so they find it online, and the right can say "see? Nobody goes to libraries anyways".

  • Thank you for not getting mad or grounding him. Like others have said, the fact that he felt comfortable coming to you and confessing shows that you're probably already doing a lot of things right, and if you punish him for making that decision he may decide it's better to hide than come forward in the future.

  • I think the dream of getting one at MSRP makes it my choice card haha. And the thing that drove me away from looking more into the 9070 was that I can only get it for a little over what the 9070XT MSRP is supposed to be.

If I'm going to make a decision, I need to get the silly notion of MSRP out of my head

  • It's probably just a mental thing. If MSRP is 600 and I pay 700, I'll feel like a spent an extra 100 for being impatient or getting ripped off. But if MSRP is unrealistic, 700 I guess is the real "MSRP" so shouldn't feel bad.

When the 20xx series was new with Nvidia, it was still possible to get cards at MSRP from retailers like Best buy, just had to be very vigilant checking availability. But if not a single person has been able to pick up the card at MSRP in 6 months I don't think it's worth holding breath.
