I am in my fifties and a significant number of my friends and family opted to not have children. The children conversation use to come up a lot, mainly because parents refuse to believe that other actually do not want to become parents. Almost without exception, the reason those friends and family members opted to not have kids was because they did not want to. Only one person has ever given a nihilistic reason like "I don't want to bring a child into this fucked up world". Almost every said that they just did not want kids. Simple as that.

Why not? Some people do not want to be a parent and never have. Just like others do not want to become dentists or accountants.

I am formerly from the New Orleans area. This was the tree decoration schedule. November 1st, the (fake) tree goes up. Most people decorate it for Thanksgiving initially but some go straight to Christmas. January 1st (or 2nd depending on the hangover), the christmas decorations.come down and the tree is decorated for Mardi Gras. On Ash Wednesday (or Thursday depending on the hangover) the Mardi Gras decorations come down and the St. Patrick's decorations go up. The morning after St. Patrick's (or the day after that depending on hangover) the decorations come down as does the tree.

All but the above holidays have an accompanying float parade (Thanksgiving parades are not as plentiful). You throw beads for Mardi Gras, and potatoes and cabbage (and beads) for St. Patrick's. Showing tits is allowed during Mardi Gras and New Years (maybe St. Patrick's). Do not flash during Thanksgiving or Christmas parades unless you want your ass thoroughly kicked as thise are meant to be family friendly occasions.
