They don't want to admit it but they are just a few steps away from anarchy.
Soo the, we got problems to big for one person alone to solve. If we let every fucker do whatever he wants we going down fast. We need inteligente population orientated to something good, organizerd trough democracy.

They say driving in public rides with protection from a government that doesn't let companies poison their air, or drink from lead pipes .....
The way Libertarians claim, in the broad sense, they are literally the same as anarchists.
However, most of the time when you get into the details, they just want the government to protect them doing whatever they want and oppress others. They're literally the same as conservatives.

Pretty much everyone admits it. Minarchist (pro minimal govt) flag is literally ancap with black changed to blue.

Free Market is essentially a "continuous democratic process". If what somebody does benefit people, he gets incentivised with profits. If people see no value in what he's doing – he gets losses. And if in the process of " doing whatever he wants" he does any harm to others ge gets sued.
And all of this happens constantly instead of once in a couple of years, without almost any accountability from those who're in power as it works in republic.
We had libertarians popular for a while in Michigan. Then they lost popularity. They usually align themselves to the right wing. In practice, they basically tried to block the government from helping the people at all. No school funding. No health care. Private ownership of all the land. No parks, protected lands or sanctuaries. No real environmental protections (so no public protection of the largest freshwater supply in the world, a precious resource), only property owners can sue for pollution, no gun regulations, no helping the poor or any social programs whatsoever, and a stronger state’s rights take on government (so the state can say no to everything too).
The good parts to me were that they didn’t support drug war policies and they don’t believe in government discrimination against any groups (but the “government” part is important there so I guess that’s not that good).
I mean, everything you described is exactly what Libertarianism is in the 21st century - placing the needs of the individual or business above the needs of society in general, which includes advocating for as little government interference as possible. It's why this meme, despite being Facebook cringe, is apropos.
I think the big problem with Libertarianism is that they have good ideas and bad ideas, but the powers that be use them to get the bad bits passed while blocking the good bits because they hurt shareholder profits.
I'm not really a big fan of this facebook meme, because I'd take the solo boat and some basic paddles any day over a large ship full of idiots with no means to propel itself.
I don't get why the activity of mocking Libertarians is so popular on Reddit and Lemmy. It's a 3rd party that never wins elections, and promotes individual freedom and fiscal responsibility. So what?
Because they promote selfishness, and given their way, would benefit few at the expense of many. Humans are inherently stronger as a group than alone. We need to use that strength to do things for the common good, such as providing services such as fire fighters, libraries, and education. Libertarians would prefer to avoid helping anyone but themselves.
