I think Iโm going to bail on that 1st birthday this weekend. The only people I know at this birthday are the parents and theyโre going to be busy socialising with everyone, and Iโll probably feel awkward in this setting being childless. Iโll just message the day before that Iโm sick and donโt want to spread germs. Does this make me a bad friend? Iโll plan a catch up with this friend in a few weeks and still give a present then.
Took the Minipeelers to Highpoint today and had a fun time topping up our supply of trackpants, T-shirts and other things that were not so practical lol. Some Lush products were purchased and bathing indulged in once we got home. The house smells a treat!
Yesterday on the way home I saw the fire brigade breaking out somebody stuck in one of the old cast iron toilets. Hope you all have a better day than that unfortunate person ๐ธ
When I was little I got my hand stuck in a trolley. All I heard was a staff member say "I'll get the butcher". My dad was a butcher. I knew what they did. I cried. The butcher brought out a tub of fat.
Nooooo, fav banh mi place nearby has had a ~glow up and is now offering heaps more fancy things, looks like it's changed ownership. Unfortunately means it's no longer reasonable to nip there on a lunch break, boo.
... though I do need to try the Salted Vietnamese Coffee...!
My fav local banh mi place is still slinging loaded rolls for $7.50 and is never that busy, I hope it never gets a glow up. The salted coffee sounds great tho.
I kind of hope Hungs Bakery doesn't sell out and go up market because the tofu banh mi is absolutely legit especially for that price and speed. But I'm guessing so long as those commission housing towers are the, Victoria Street won't gentrify like the rest of Richmond
I had a spot of cleaning mojo and vacuumed and mopped the floors. I now have nice clean floors but the kitchen's too wet to go in and make a cuppa. Boo.
I have considered making some absorbent cotton slippers to wear after mopping the floor, so I can walk all over the wet floor and call it drying the floor.
Resident magpie remembers me so appeased it w/ cheee. Really makes you wonder just how much memory they have. Haven't been here for months and the thing was right at my feet without a second thought.
I've been so successful in weatherstripping around the sliding door the dog door panel is inserted into that now the air pressure is blowing the dog flap open and letting in even more cold air than was coming through the gaps.
I decided to check the status of my tax return and my voluntary super contribution has been reset to $0?!!?! Wtf! However, it's still being processed ("Balancing accounts") and I don't want to slow anything down so I think I'll just wait until it's been finalised and maybe it'll be added back in by then. I'll be a very unhappy camper if I have to amend the lodgement and delay getting my money back...
I was going to be in that position due to an improperly taxed second job and a taxable cash scholarship, but dumped a load into super to get around it. I really need that tax return and not a tax bill, so it'd be nice to get that processed properly...
Yeah, I got the letter confirming the NOI and saw the deposit in my super balance minus 15% tax several days before I lodged my tax return. I didn't enter a value for TFN under my super contributions (just the fund name, fund ABN and amount contributed) because I couldn't find a TFN for the super fund (I assume that's for SMSFs or something), so not sure if that was an issue.
But, my ATO account has been a bit weird, random errors when logging in (not a scam) and there's a new "payments" prompt at the top of my home page even though there should be nothing outstanding
Edit: I'm a goose, the "debit" account in the payment prompt would be the amount I owe if I didn't have deductions. Sooo I have no idea why it isn't through yet. I'll wait and see...
Ok, I despise Amazon, but sometimes you can't find something anywhere else. I now accidentally have 30 days of their TV thing. What should I check out?
@MeanElevator@Catfish seconding The Boys, and I don't even like violent or superhero. It's very clever, but quite awful, and very watchable if you can get past the ultraviolence.
Compare violent to opening sequence S1 American Gods?? Violence is fine by me if it has purpose and plot. That Bone Tomahawk bit was a shock, but made sense.
Bumble for Friends is starting to feel like a dating app! People match and never reply, or they tell you to message on Instagram, which I don't have. The latest is some dude trying to flirt with me. Umm wrong app buddy. You're meant to be on the other one...
Someone asked me how my day is going. That's nice but what about finding common interests? I don't want to tell you that I've played games with my cousins or worked a boring shift, what are you going to do with that info?!
So I'm just going to go to more in-person things. Fuck meeting people through this app. I always thought I'd meet a partner through a dating app, but I guess I'd rather be single for the rest of my life than have to go on one of those again.
I wouldnโt necessarily assume asking how your day is going is for nefarious info gathering. Itโs just a normal part of small talk. (However Iโve never used any matching apps so donโt know the context, eg I just found out thumbs up emoji is apparently rude to younger gens). You can give nonspecific answers, just like you would in real life. Conversation needs to star somewhere.
I love how Temu tries to trick you into taking a credit on your account instead of getting a refund to your card. They tell you it will take days to repay to the card, but it actually goes through instantly. Plus they put in an extra pop up to try to get you to change it without realising that clicking on "get refund instantly" means getting an account credit instead of an actual refund.
Oh well, I know their tricks and have the refund in my account and gave a bad review to the dodgy embroidery kit I was sent. I was actually a bit surprised that only one of them was actually dodgy, and because I didn't have to return the kit I'll be able to use the cotton on the stitch book I got that didn't come with any, so that works out ok.
They often don't want it back, especially if it is low cost and you say it is defective instead of just change of mind. They also sometimes offer you a partial refund if you don't return it, but ask you to send it back if you want the whole amount back. I also discovered tonight that when you put in a bad review for an item it prompts you to return it, and gives you an additional chance to return an item at no cost (normally you have to do all returns in each order in one go). Which was handy, I had something that seemed ok at the start but then didn't actually work after I used it for a while, but I thought it was too late to return it.
I may have gone a touch overboard when ordering embroidry kits from Temu. I think I now have a lifetime supply, plus a bit extra.
The kits are mostly pretty good quality (except for one dodgy one I asked for a refund on) but a few of them will be a bit challenging as they are quite complicated. I'm chalking them up as a work expense as they are to help keep me awake on quiet night shifts. Unfortunately the ATO is unlikely to agree with that assessment, so I can't claim a refund on them.
I also bought a few more decals, hopefully Miss Meow will like her litter trays being in a small jungle. In any case having a plastic coating on the wall should help protect it from her over-enthusiastic litter digging practices.
I thought once you got your vein ripped out you'd die instantly and not hang on for half an hour so you can club a cunt with a 2 by 4 with nails sticking out.
