So over the weekend Mr P and I formally broke up. First there was an argument where a ramekin was thrown, then a calming down and proper conversation. We've been in separate bedrooms for years so not much is really changing. He initially asked me to leave. I said no, I've been paying rent for 13½ years to the owner of the property who isn't you. Neither of us can afford to move anywhere or pay market rent. Also with him on the dole, can't afford to pay for all car related expenses, which is needed with the children. I said I'm still happy to pay that stuff and I think he saw that it was a pretty good deal actually and he's best to eat humble pie and stick with it. It's in my interests for him to have a car to do child/school related things whilst I'm at work, and I'm happy to contribute to that. I told him (not for the first time) that he's welcome to see other people as long as discretion is exercised regarding the children. Since then things have been really civil between us. Let's see how it goes.

Remember to take care of yourself! It's easy to get caught up in the kids, and Mr P, and just all the stress and difficult conversation, and you forget to care for yourself too! Treat yourself! Be it a cafe coffee, or a luxurious bath/shower, read your fave book/listen to your fav song, etc
Breaking up is incrediblely hard on the soul, especially if you still have to live together, but you are strong, kind, clever, and AMAZING!

- Thankyou, I'm hopeful that we can work our way through the "not working out" situation as peaceably as possible. Especially for Elder Minipeeler, who at first seemed pretty bummed out but is gradually realising that nothing is radically different.
It sucks that things worked out that way, but I'm glad he was able to be civil about it afterward and it seems like you'll be able to make things work how they are for the moment.

I walked out of work at lunch yesterday. My boss was understanding about it - he is…aware of my week! - but I’m now in the grey area where I’m sort of waiting on funerals.

Sent a reluctant message to the apartment using one of my two car parks, about starting to charge for it. I won't charge them if I find a job though, and what I'm asking per month is $150 less than other car parks around here too so 💀🤷🏼‍♀️

I've decided I need a detailed and comprehensive moving plan to make sure everything goes smoothly for my relocation. After a lot of research and considerable thought, here is what I have come up with:

Step 1: Put everything in boxes
Step 2: Move boxes to new house
Step 3: Unpack all the boxes

I think I've got this.

Step 4: Cup of Tea
- I shall exchange for coffee, as per my taste preferences. I have already followed this step 4 times today.
Make sure there's air holes for those pets.
- It would be handy if I could just pack them up. Pet wrangling is going to be one of the most complicated parts of the move. Miss Meow will be sedated and confined to a small pen at each end while the move happens, and my sister is going to be nanny for the day to Mr Woof - hopefully the weather will be ok and she can exhaust him with a couple of long walks.
Second Alamutjones' Step 4. Include Step 5: Pizza
- I know pizza on the floor is tradtional moving day fare, but as I already have the dining table up there I am going to break with tradition. The current plan is tacos.

Did everyone stockpile machetes before they were banned today? It slipped my mind and I forgot to get mine

This has to be one of the least effective and stupidest knee-jerk reactions I've yet seen. It would be more to the point to ban shopping centres imo. Or teenagers. Machetes are really really easy to make - long grass slasher machine blades make the best ones. This is traditional in the bush for clearing scrub and butchering deer/sheep and opening Queensland Blue pumpkins if you can't find the bow saw. Just screw the blade to a handle of some sort and sharpen. And I don't think they're going to ban council grass mowers anytime soon. Or Bunnings. Or pumpkins.
- This reminds me of when my brother made nunchucks from mum's broom handle, a chain and some electrical tape.

Well I've had my "stuff I bought from Temu that is actually tiny" experience.

I just broke my packing tape dispenser.

Fortunately it is just a plastic guard so I can still use it, I just need to be careful not to gouge the tape with the metal cutter.

I put an egg in the air fryer. It didn’t work that great. After peeling the shell, there was a bit of overcooked outer layer but the yolk was nice and creamy

180 for 9 minutes

I did a lot of reading about eggs for cooking sous vide, and they are actually very complicated. There is a lot of variabiity between different eggs, and the yolk and white cook at very different temperatures. Even if you repeat the exact same time and temperatures you are likely to get different results for different batches of eggs.
- Yeah I was thinking it could be the egg shell was a bit thin in certain areas. The yolk was perfect though.
- Also the size of the egg. I eat a bunch of hard boiled eggs, 600g carton is 7 minutes, +1 minute for every 100g.
Cold or room temperature egg?
- Cold
Maybe try 6-7 minutes?
I've tried 12 mins at 120 deg - eggs were room temperature and worked well for hard boiled. Doing the same with eggs from the fridge resulted in cooked whites and runny yolks.
EDIT: both above were in an airfryer.
160 for 8 mins, yolks were not totally cooked. One egg was a little runny, the other not so much.
Guess next time I’ll try with maybe 5 or 6 mins.

I am exhausted and I'm still so far behind where I want to be packing wise. All this stuff seems neverending, and everything seems to triple in size once I try to put it into a box. At least I should be building some good muscle with all this lifting.

Don’t be ashamed to just put soft items (ie clothes) in garbags or use them as cushioning on other items.
Packing sucks

I didn't go to bed early last night but I spent an hour playing with one of my grooveboxes. At least I spent some time doing something I like, and I think I've put enough down I could arrange it into a song

Thought I lost my keys when I got home and almost started getting worried. Turns out they were in my bag, in my jacket pocket. Then I thought I lost my earbud case. That was in my jumper pocket, and I was wearing the jumper this time. This sums up my week so far. And maybe my life since having long COVID.

Yeah I regularly have moments where I have a mini heart attack because I can’t find my phone… and it hasn’t left the room.
I put my keys on a lanyard and literally tie them to my bag, or would use a carabiner and wallet chain. Years ago I used to have a zippered phone case with a chain to attach to your belt or bag which is actually a good idea
