  • I've never been, I'm all about Machete City.

  • How long do I need to exercise for before I start seeing a difference?
  • Mostly it's the science of how the two systems function. The nervous system is more adaptable at up/down regulating transmitters/receivers in the neural junctions which doesn't require a lot of energy. The muscular system needs to literally grow, which is somewhat even against biology. Big muscles are often not only unnecessary, they're only really made when they're forced to be made, and if you stop lifting, they'll go away. The nervous system will down-regulate too given the chance but its a faster responding system.

  • How long do I need to exercise for before I start seeing a difference?
  • Some basics:

2-4 weeks for you nervous system to improve.
4-8 weeks for your muscular system to improve.
    Diet for weight loss.
Lift heavy to failure. eat and sleep for big muscles.

  • What are some good cooperative shooters? Hidden gems?
  • Hasn't someone already suggested L4D2? I only played the first and was pretty offended when they promptly released the second and expected me to pay for it. They did eventually turn around and give it away but IIRC it was under a year from release and they expected me to buy a whole other game.

Another doot for Remnant, really enjoyed the odd universe and two player coop.

Battlefront 2 multi player for mindless star wars pew pew fun.

  • Can someone explain to me what is going on with Bluesky?
  • I never used Twitter, I don't see a reason to use bluesky.

  • I've had split pricing near me for a few days now. 157 at one and 209 at the other, both Ampol.

  • Exit row, middle seat is my jam. Window and the fuselage takes up some of my space. Aisle and the drinks cart (and people) constantly bump into my shoulder which pokes into the aisle. Exit/middle and I've got plenty of leg room, I don't get bumped and I can get up for a wee without bothering anyone.

  • I've read a bunch of comments from homeless people on reddit saying that after a while they lose respect for society ignoring them, both hoarding what ever is available and leaving garbage anywhere just becomes part of their life.

  • Are standing seats on airliners actually going to be a thing?
  • Bro, just need another trap door.

  • And when I said support from the gov, I mean from individual members rather than an overall "The Government" says this is bad.

  • I dunno about the title, I've been protesting for Tibet most of my life and Australia hasn't been very interested. There's the occasional bit of support from the government but they mostly turn a blind eye.

  • It's Saturday what have you watched this week?
  • Mushishi anime. It's slow paced but I'm sure it's building towards something.

Jonah Hex, wasn't great but don't regret it.

  • [UnAffiliated] It's almost bandcamp Friday, where all sales profits go directly to artists. Support artists on bandcamp soon.

Bandcamp Fridays began in March of 2020 at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic when the shuttering of venues led to a loss of vital tour revenue for artists. Since then, Bandcamp Fridays—on which we waive our revenue share and pass the funds directly to artists & labels—has resulted in millions of fans paying over $120 million directly to labels and musicians they love. In addition to helping artists pay the rent, or fund album recordings and tours, Bandcamp Fridays have also become a beacon for artists and record labels looking to raise awareness for causes or raise money for charities.

And so we’re happy to announce that the next Bandcamp Friday will be on May 2, 2025 from midnight to midnight PST.

We don't get paid for it in Australia but it'll go to helping someone who needs it.

May 3-4, Kryal Castle, Questival 2025: Assemble your clan, costumes and journey into a world of adventure, quests, arena games & camping

    Questival 2025 - Culture Jam

Looks like somewhere between a bush doof and role playing convention. $180/ticket and an option for shared camping next door.

I'm not affiliated, just passing it on. It's only a month away. I'm considering it as its a local cheaper get away weekend. It'd be nice to split the cost of a powered camp site as they're $100 + $10 per person up to eight people.

Zydeco Jump - Port Phillip Bayou (Melbourne 80s/90s Band)

Melbourne zydeco band. I remember dancing to these guys as a kid at the Espy Pub around '88, when the Espy was still a fun working pub for all.

Socks - what's good, what lasts? I need to buy socks.

So after ten to twenty five years of use it seems that most of my pairs of Holeproof Explorers are giving up on me. They're wearing out in such a manner that darning the spots isn't going to cut it anymore. I hear rumours that the company has changed hands and the modern versions just aren't the same quality.

So I'm up for 5-10 pairs of new socks. I hear good things about wool / merino, but buying anything online I'm sceptical of the actual quality once it gets to me. Even temu makes their products look appealing all the way until you open the package.

Given this group is still small and off the marketing radar, anyone got any brand name suggestions, or even stores I should visit, maybe I should be buying wool and a sock knitting machine.

    Thanks for your thoughts.

Shotgun-wielding teen overpowered by plane passengers

A teenager armed with a loaded shotgun has been charged after allegedly trying to force his way onto a Jetstar flight in Victoria before being overpowered by passengers.

The 17-year-old from Ballarat allegedly climbed through a hole in the security fencing at busy Avalon Airport before making his way on foot to the plane.

The teen tried to climb the front stairs into the cabin, but he was overpowered by three passengers who noticed him carrying the shotgun.

Police were called to the major airport, near Geelong, on Thursday afternoon following reports a male with a firearm had attempted to board a Jetstar flight.

The flight which was carrying about 150 people was bound for Sydney.
