love that spain won, absolutely deserved winners, Southgate's mentality midget tactic of sitting back the moment they equalize is fucking egregious, how little time it took to create the best chance of the game with the Rice header, 4 minutes after conceding? why can't they play attacking football like that all the time? England has the most stacked attack of all teams and they play defensive football when that's their biggest weakness.
Yeah I always suspected a late goal would take them out sometime. It's weird he seems to play for a draw I think anyone else would want a solid goal or two lead.

There's a really interesting (if a little overblown) piece in The Guardian - basically arguing that England's entire failure can be attributed to (or at least embodied by) one throw in that Kyle Walker took not long after the equaliser. Instead of chucking it into the box, he threw it 40 yards back to Stones, who gave it back to keeper, and England didn't touch the ball in Spain's half again for about 15 minutes.
Finals are often tense affairs so you're probably right, it's rare to get something like Argentina - France. At least Spain has been playing well so far, which gives me a bit of hope. Though I imagine England will try their best to underwhelm.
