Don't forget pork roll and scrapple
(Actually let's forget scrapple, it's disgusting)
I'm happy too! It was surprisingly easy once I found the right doctor. I went to a GYN who specializes in perimenopause and she really listened to me, and had a whole plan for approaching it. I'm starting with progesterone, and in 3 months we'll adjust the dosage if needed and add estrogen, and 3 months after that we'll adjust again and add testosterone.
I was so relieved because the previous 2 GYNs I went to didn't seem to understand. The first (a man in his 60s) said I was too young and my symptoms were probably from stress, not peri. 🙄 The second (a woman in her early 30s) said it was probably peri but there was nothing she could do since normally she'd prescribe birth control for my symptoms, but I was already taking it. This time I looked for a woman who was definitely old enough to have been through peri herself, and one who specializes in peri instead of just a regular GYN.
Third time's the charm, I guess!
I'm finally starting HRT this week. I'm not sure what to expect but I'm excited! So far the only downside is that I have to go off of the birth control pill for this, so I'm going to have to have periods again. 😡
Sounds like you're all set to have a great week!
Recovering from surgery can be so tough! I hope you heal quickly and smoothly :)
Of course - trans women are women! 💖
This is a great summary but you made me lol with "(the first time)"
Nobody should care if he used to be a landscaper. It's not relevant. His age is absolutely relevant though. He's far too young to have the wisdom and experience to handle this job properly. How is he going to know which experts to bring in and who to listen to? He's grossly unqualified.
Man I feel lucky, there are a ton of lightning bugs in my yard
The spotty yeety boi is so pretty but it can go fuck itself
I wouldn't call it hardcore necessarily. I'm on lemmy because I walked away from reddit when they shut down api access to third party apps. I haven't had any other social media since I got rid of facebook in 2013 when Edward Snowden dropped his info. I just don't want it, to be honest. Facebook was a little hard to give up because it was the only way I stayed in touch with some folks, but honestly the important relationships survived. And all the rest - instagram, tiktok, twitter, snapchat, et al - don't really appeal to me. Especially short-form content, which I find extra annoying.
Yeah some people just become sympathy vacuums. They always have a "woe is me" mentality and want a ton of comforting when nothing is really wrong. (I was raised by one of these and it's draining!)
Holy shit I didn't realize the epicurean boards were the reason my knives were getting dull!
I'm sure there are many good grassy knolls on his golf courses
Hi friends! I'm looking to buy a fragrance and am hoping you guys might have some suggestions.
I want something that screams "peach" without being powdery or overly floral. I'm hoping for something gourmand/lactic (but not overly sweet!), fruity, or lightly floral (wearable in the daytime), or to go in another direction completely, something peach with spice, an evening scent sort of like Angel Share Paradis by Kilian (but peach instead of raspberry).
I'm more interested in perfumes, less interested in body sprays, but will give anything a shot.
Things I've already tried include Phlur's Apricot Privée, Phlur's Peach Skin, and Ellis Brooklyn's Peaches. Out of these, I like Peaches the most, but it's kind of a simple scent. I'd like something a little more complex. I had high hopes for Peach Skin but the sandalwood is really overwhelming (it smells so powdery!). And Apricot Privée is more complex but also smells very powdery and although it's spicy, I feel like it's an old-fashioned kind of spicy, if that makes sense.
And if there's not a single fragrance that fits the bill, I could try layering Peaches with something else. Maybe with Angel Share, or with an amber?
I don't know where else to share this, but I'm so proud of myself so I've gotta post it somewhere. I've finally got my first unassisted pull-up! It wasn't a goal I was working super hard toward, but I've noticed a lot of new muscle definition in my back, probably because I do a lot of rows, especially bird-dog rows and renegade rows. So I tried a pull-up and I was able to do one pretty easily! Not bad for a middle-aged lady! Now I've got a goal to do three. :)
I have a Samsung Galaxy S21 and I just got the new OneUI update. Now when I watch media in Jerboa there's an annoying scrolling notification that appears:
How do I get rid of this?
Also how do I get rid of whatever this is in my edge tray?
Thanks in advance!
Edit: I figured out the first one, search settings for the Now Bar and disable whatever you don't want to see

Hey friends. I've recently realized that what I thought were freckles is actually melasma, and my dermatologist has prescribed me tretinoin for it. I have very pale skin, generally normal in the winter and a little oilier in the T-zone during the summer, but it can dry out really badly with things like AHA. From what I've heard, tret is pretty drying. My dermatologist recommended that I start with applying it only two nights a week, and using a pea-sized amount mixed into my moisturizer. I use the Tatcha Water Cream moisturizer, which is pretty light and has been great for me, but with tret I'm wondering if I'll need a heavier moisturizer. I'm also worried that my usual double-cleansing will worsen the dryness from tret. I double-cleanse with an oil balm to remove my mineral sunblock, then with the Tatcha Rice Wash to get rid of the sunblock & oil balm residue. But I'm thinking the rice wash might be irritating because it's got a (mild) physical exfoliant, so maybe I need to find something else for my second cleanse?
Does anyone have any experiences to share about dryness on tret, or just starting tret in general? Anything I should be aware of? I'm weirdly nervous about it!

Ladies, help me choose nail polish for a St Paddy's Day fest this weekend! I will be wearing all the tacky plastic shamrock shit the grocery store will sell me (plus green eyeshadow). Here are the contenders (from left to right):
ILNP - Reminisce ILNP - 1UP Cirque Colors - High Society Cirque Colors - Mood Ring (magnetic) Cirque Colors - Ethel Orly - It's Not Rocket Science Sinful Colors - Calypso
Which one should I go with?
Since the last release, I find that gifs won't play in Jerboa anymore. For example, this comment just appears as a static image for me, even when I click on it. Do you see the same behavior?
Edit: solved by user merde alors:
>did you enable "auto play GIFs" in settings>look&feel ?
Then close and reopen the app and that should fix it.
I recently had surgery and while I recover, I've been doing a DS9 rewatch. I just watched The Visitor and I swear, no matter how many times I see this episode, it's always a gut punch. What a beautiful, sad story. Is it even possible to watch it without crying? I almost skipped it because I didn't want to cry today :'(
A few weeks ago I posted that my greyhound Greta was in the hospital, and so many of you left such nice comments and well wishes - thank you! She's been back home for a couple weeks now and is doing great.
Here she is with her latest bandage (featuring a G💚 decoration because my vet's office is the best!):

Jerboa devs, thank you so much for the latest updates - I'm really digging the swipe-to-vote functionality! I do find that it's a little too sensitive and registers votes when I'm simply trying to scroll up or down in my feed or a comments section. I guess I don't always scroll in a perfectly vertical path. Would it be possible to decrease the sensitivity for the swipe-to-vote - maybe requiring a greater deviation from the vertical before a vote registers?
Another really helpful feature would be to add vote indicators to the right of comments - the entire rightmost edge of the comment could have a color matching the vote I gave it, or no color if I haven't voted. Often if I'm reading a long comment I upvote it halfway through, then by the end of the comment I can't remember if I've voted so I have to either long-press or scroll back up to find out. Color indicators in the margin would be helpful!
ugly bag of mostly water
don't keep sweatin' what I do 'cause I'm gonna be just fine
