  • People are constantly misunderstanding satire. I had someone report you just for your profile bio, which is low key hilarious.

  • You kicked this off, and @inv3r5ion@lemmy.dbzer0.com's responses seem mostly fine to me. This is an anarchist instance, not la la land.

  • Fuck off with this critical support bullshit. There is a constant stream of posts (legitimately) criticizing the US on Lemmy generally, and even on .lw. But in contrast, almost every post critical of any anti-American State gets removed for "bigotry" on .ml. According to their moderation practices, no criticism of these states can be valid, because they are fighting US imperialism. It doesn't matter to .ml than many of these states are aspiring imperialists themselves (e.g. Russia) or genocidal religious theocracies (.e.g. Iran) or oppressive authoritarian regimes (China). That's the issue here, not that @cm0002@lemmy.world hasn't personally called out the US in this thread. Trying to "both sides" this is completely disingenuous.

  • Sure, but the end result is the same - i.e., it looks spammy even if unintended.

  • All the links are directed to social.heise.de, so it's definitely got spammy characteristics imo, even if it's not commercial spam. While awareness raising about federation functionality is probably fine, it's also presumably meant to direct traffic to that specific instance, which is arguably a form of advertising.

  • Yeah man, it's a great community for spreading awareness :)

  • Rather than going straight to bans (except for egregious trolling, or repeat offenders) I think that maybe removing off-topic discussion threads in their entirety is probably the way to go. If they are discussing something that isn't directly related to the OPs original complaint, then it's off topic imo. That would cover 90% of the problem. Personally, I don't mind some strong language and argumentation so long as it's about the actual topic. While I know drama isn't everyone's jam, it can be entertaining for some folks. And I agree with @neurospice@lemmy.dbzer0.com that maybe a 24 hour or 48 hour post lock rule would also be helpful so people aren't going back to dredge up drama again in older posts, while still allowing time for folks to discuss the issue?

  • BPR if you were aware of the instance and its reputation. PTB otherwise. Getting a ban from ML for this sort of thing is a something of a right of passage I think lol.

  • Community rule 1. Post only about bans or other sanctions from mod(s).

Yep, you are technically correct. But the admin OP is talking about has a totally unhinged opinion on this topic imo, so it's (maybe?) still worth discussing/exposing. I mean, people living outside the US aren't "jealous" of modern day 'Murica... they are (mostly) appalled by it. Is this not common knowledge in the US for some reason? :p

  • What sites would you have me post from oh arbiter of trash?

  • Hmmm, why not actually delete the post then?
