FOUR whole parking spots
  • I had a '93 F150 for a few years. It was a v8 5.8L with an extended bed. Until... I let my friend borrow it and he... redlined it for several miles in first gear, (accidentally put it in 1st gear instead of into drive, and didn't noticed the extremely loud engine and the fact that he couldn't go over 20mph... yes, he is that stupid lmao) until it began smoking and he pulled it into a random driveway. And then as if that weren't bad enough, the genius homeowner popped the hood and hosed down the engine which, if you know anything about cars or metal, was the dumbest thing he could've done. Cracked up the whole thing. 😭

But that thing was a fucking beast man. These new trucks can't even fit a fucking 2x4 or a sheet of OSB in the bed. They are useless.

  • FCC chair wants to boost broadband standard to 100Mbps
  • In my small town, we only had 4g lte, but it was quick. That is until 2 months ago, they 'updated the towers' to give us 5g... except now nothing works. My phone shows 5g but I have zero bars and zero service. When I switch phone to lte, it'll show full bars but has zero service. It often completely drops to SOS mode. It's ridiculous. Several people in town have contacted Verizon and the FCC and Verizon's official response has been, "we are aware that service is not optimal in this area, but we currently have no plans to fix it. If you are unhappy with our coverage, we encourage you to switch providers." It's infuriating. They've "updated" the town's service from LTE to broken 5G/nothing at all and said "yeah what're you gonna do about it, leave if you don't like it" knowing that their tower is the only tower in the area.

  • Don't feel bad for the Moderators of Reddit
  • I once got banned from some random sub for commenting in r/conservative. I responded to the mods like "tf? I'm a leftist, I'm debating with the conservatives" and got a response from the mod saying "yeah whatever you're wasting your time and you sound like an idiot. Bye."

  • Youtube added shorts to the subscriptions page, pushing the subscriptions almost entirely off the page...
  • I don't mind YouTube shorts usually, although my TikTok feed is far better. But last week, my YouTube app started opening to the shorts tab. Infuriating. I'll watch a short if it piques my interest, but that's not what I'm going to YouTube for.

  • My family doctor didn't ask about symptoms when I inquired about having ADHD.
  • Yeah, my friends mentioned the drug-seeking aspect as well. It just seems ridiculous to write someone off that quickly though.

I'll check out that book. And the doctor already has me doing a sleep test this month due to daytime sleepiness and increased blood pressure, so maybe we'll find something there!

    Thanks for the response.

  • My family doctor didn't ask about symptoms when I inquired about having ADHD.

Long story short, for the last 5 years or so, generally since becoming an adult, I've been feeling foggy, with loose memory (I can't remember a verbal list of more than 3 things for the life of me; grasping for words; etc.), noticed I have a tendency to obsess over new hobbies, inability to do things that need done, general depressive thoughts, etc.

I mentioned to my primary care doctor in a recent visit that I wanted to talk about a possible ADHD diagnosis. The conversation went essentially like this.

"I want to talk about a possible diagnosis of ADHD, or autism, or something of that ilk. I know this isn't really your area of expertise but I don't know where else to go."

"No, it is actually. Did you have trouble at school as a kid?"

    "No"

"Are you able to complete your tasks at work?"

    "Yes, for the most part"

"Ok, so for adult ADHD I generally recommend just lifestyle changes. Do you drink coffee? Caffeine has been shown to help."

After suggesting I drink coffee she ended the conversation and moved on to review some other unrelated concerns I'd brought.

Does this sound like a reasonable conversation? How did the conversation go with your doctors when you first brought up the possibility of ADHD? I feel like I was completely written off. She never asked about why I was asking about an ADHD diagnosis. I just feel like after gaining the courage to speak with my doctor about something that seems intimate to me, I was just ignored.

    Goodbye Reddit
  • Same. I created my account when I was 14 and I'm 25 now - almost half my life ago. That account contains thoughts I've had for 11 years now. I just can't delete it all like that without somehow archiving it.

  • Goodbye Reddit
  • I'm getting the same vibes. I was in middle school when I signed up for reddit 11 years ago, and I still remember an askreddit thread that was, "Reddit, what do you look like?" and the comments were just selfies. It felt so tight knit, even when it was eclipsing a million subs at that point. These days that kind of community is only found in the most niche of niche subreddits.

  • I Hope Rexxitors Tone Down the Low-Hanging Comment Chains on Lemmy.
  • I'll give it until the end of June. By that point, anyone who was going to leave reddit will have left, and new users will come more organically. At that point, the rexxitors will do what redditors do best, which is gatekeep.
