Ex cheated on me. She tried to get me back. I said no. She ended up engaged to the guy she cheated on me with. Then she went full on bridezilla and he broke it off with her.

First day on a job and a coworker took a pistol out of his briefcase/bag and began cleaning it/wiping it down. It was a small office of 5ish people. I was just basically there to help play a tech support role for some outdated software they were running. My coworker was an older sales rep for the company and he was responsible for hiring me (don't ask me why). Anyways, first official day I was working he brandished his pistol. I don't know why. He looked a bit like Kelsey Grammer which bummed me out because I love Frasier. (Shout-out to /c/Frasier ) He had other hangups and ultimately quit a few weeks later.

When he pulled that gun, time slowed down. With all of these mass shootings I just didn't know what to expect. My mind raced but my body froze. I wish I could say I said something but I didn't. I kept my mouth shut and pretended like nothing was happening.

People can be so unhinged. That was almost 10 years ago now.

I'm just to here to let you know that, generally speaking, I relate to your experiences. I live in a very conservative neighborhood. My neighbors all wave Trump flags and follow typical conservative-y patterns. It makes it difficult for my lefty wife and I to feel comfortable in those spaces. We are doing our best to ingratiate ourselves with the community, but I fear there is a strong barrier to fully entering it. Despite that we are trying to join volunteer organizations within our small town. If we are lucky, maybe we can find a couple liberal minded people. I find that volunteering usually means you'll end up with (at least) someone who is open minded and interested in improving their community. I miss Meetups. It used to be much bigger and I had some success many years ago.

Oh I totally get it. I've been lamenting not transitioning for quite a few years now. The only thing keeping me from committing is really not believing it would work, which I'm beginning to realize is pretty foolish. There are obviously a lot of social reasons that make those excuses easy. I think, ironically, I went to therapy and it cracked my egg, but I started taking Sertraline and it fixed my mood. In a sad way, I think it kind of masked the underlying dysphoria that was causing my to feel depressed in the first place.

Right now, the biggest blocker for me is fertility. My wife and I have a child already but we are planning on more. I don't want to risk losing fertility for now.

I have read the Gender Dysphoria Bible but not the intro to HRT for Transfem people. Your anecdotal evidence gives me a lot of hope and courage for sure. Thank you so much for all of that feedback.

I'm hoping I can get lucky with my genetics. I definitely don't have it in the face lol but maybe if I lose some weight it'll help.
