Why are people so selfhostphobic?
Like is it that hard to spin up an SMB on a windows machine and run it 24/7?
Move fast and break things works well when you're not breaking your own things
it works kinda but there are some features that don't work like adding custom language support
Yup, except for the lack of Kate replacement GNOME is my favourite.
reformatting that thing is a massive pain without windows
It's simple not complicated so when it's hot just stay hydrated
That was a great read!
fair enough but i have the unpopular opinion that file extensions should be a prefix not a suffix so that all files of the same type sort together
you know what's even dumber is that windows never learnt to identify files apart from its extension. every other modern operating system (e.g. everything unixlike) knows how to identify files even without file extensions
wouldn't it be the other way around
you can't fanum tax someone without food
Hmm like the disruptive environmental protesters but with malignant aims under the guise of eco protection a la Team Plasma
Having some cool new tech that takes decades to trickle down in order to benefit the public is not sustainable. Making the same devices year on year to eak out every ounce of growth is not sustainable. SaaS products that will just vanish into thin air once funding runs out is not sustainable. Massive data centres running generative AI applications no one needs or wants and syphoning massive amounts of resources for what will inevitably become vaporware is not sustainable.

A new idea I had to find actually hot takes.
Post your most controversial takes and follow the usage guide in the sidebar.
Example: I believe that IP is a direct contradiction of nature, sacrificing the advancement of humanity and the world for selfish gain, and therefore is sinful.
Edit: pls do not downvote the comments this is a constructive discussion
Edit2: IP= intellectal property
Edit3: sort by controversal

Seriously though, who is running this and who's photos are they taking?
To clear it up I am referring to just the kernel. You can set anything you'd like as PID 1 so we can have a non-unixlike userland. For example, some users set their kernel to boot directly into Emacs, without an init system.
