  • Grin and bear it?

No we let our politicians slowly put in place the conditions for fascism.

    Metadata retention

    Assistance and access bill

    Identify and disrupt bill

    Age verification bullshit

    Anti protest laws.

Pretty soon you won't be able to disagree with libor / laborel here either.

I bet that the fascist tech laws will be used to silence and punish government critics.

WA to get two new public holidays in major shake-up

  • If anything when people make immigration in to a race issue it plays in to the hands of the business lobby / rent seekers / 1%. They are the ones who profit from mass immigration at the expense of the majority of working class people.

Making it a race issue allows the politicians to focus their media talking points on claiming "I'm not a racist" instead of what the reasonable opponents want to discuss. So we never get a sensible debate about what a sustainable population is, or what a sustainable amount of immigration is, or what effect mass immigration has had on housing demand.

  • Most offices I have seen have really upped their coffee game since the pandemic. Presumably to encourage everyone back in.

Gone are the days of freeze dried instant. Forget those horrid nestle pod machines.

Full automatic espresso machines are the standard now. Being drugged for productivity.

  • As someone who is for setting sensible limits on immigration for environmental and economic reasons I also wish they would fuck off.

All their racist nonsense ends up doing is drowning out any chance of sensible discussion about what sustainable levels of population growth from immigration look like.

These protestors are literally doing the bidding of the 1% / business lobby / rent seekers for free. Of course anyone that racist is too stupid to even realise that's what they are doing.

  • I'm sure someone will be along to argue that correlation is not causation on this, but I'll be surprised if it's not mostly due to the average vehicle's front height now being above the average persons chest.

The other day on my bike ride in to the Perth CBD I encountered 3 separate pairs of motorcycle police with radar guns on the PSP (PSP= principal shared path, a completely separated bike / pedestrian path with no car traffic for those abroad). Presumably they were on the lookout for people on e-scooters exceeding 25km/h, which if caught get fine and their scooter confiscated permanently with no recourse.

Meanwhile in the middle of the CBD where there are lots of pedestrians we have vehicles running red lights, failing to give way to pedestrians when turning at intersections, ballbags in a jacked up 4WDs complete with 5 post bullbars and all of the emissions controls removed running around with complete impunity.

  • How is it immoral?

I loathe the fact that to go to my local shops I have to drive my fucking car because there is a high chance that some fuckwit will steal my bike or scooter if I lock it at the entrance.

Fuck people who steal bikes and scooters. All they are doing is grabbing on to people barely one rung up the societal ladder than they are and pulling them down.

Go steal from a large corporation instead if you want sympathy.

  • Oh fuck off Kate.

Any time the "blue ribbon" teals talk about what is good for the economy we must remember that to them "the economy" = rich arseholes yachts. Their constituents are wealthy and economically conservative, and in no way want things to become fair.

So raising the GST will be worse for everyone who works for a living and have negligible effect on those who have accumulated wealth.
