  • Only when they're being queried, when idle it consumes memory to keep them running to be ready to answer a query, but thats about it

  • Hot day

Sorry it took a few hours, I was kinda sleeping LMAO

  • Lol that's no run of the mill bad mod, that's dessalines. (One of) .ml instance admin and head Lemmy dev

  • Thanks!

  • Those aren't modules in of themselves, more like plugin frameworks for hooking into the Android kernel/deep system functions that others can write plugins for.

LSposed can do more "cool stuff" but it's also a much bigger pain to keep it hidden from root detectors. I occasionally use an app called Card Emulator Pro that allows me to duplicate and then emulate any NFC card I tap to it that needs an LSposed module to work

Magisk Modules, can do less but is much easier to keep root hidden, most of my MM are for hiding root (like playcurl) but I particularly like isodrive for being able to use my phone to store and use bootable ISO images

  • Welcome to the United States Army and have a great life,” Trump said after they recited the Oath of Enlistment.

Trump, after they did all the "unimportant constitution" parts: "I thought we edited that out"

  • As someone who used to change ROMs and kernels almost weekly back in the day (when I had more time lmao), honestly, not really.

Stock android already provides so much these days that used to take a custom ROM to obtain. And what isn't, can be provided via a LSposed module or Magisk Module, which is MUCH easier to handle than a full tilt custom ROM

There's, one, exception though. If you want a custom ROM for a specific purpose then there might still be some utility there. Like GrapheneOS for privacy focus

  • In the end, everything becomes crab Linux

  • You'd think Intel would see it the same way, but no, they've done shit like literally just move a couple pins around to justify a new socket LMAO

  • Real talk, if you want the actual data recovery perspective

If your system is on an SSD, first thing is you've got about 10 minutes (or less) to shutdown and use a recovery program before TRIM comes and irrecoverably deletes it. (Not applicable to all systems, some have slower TRIM timing, some faster, some instant and some not enabled at all (Sounds preposterous now, but it was an issue for a hot minute, so old systems might still be affected))

If HDD, just don't start writing to disk a bunch of shit and you can grab a cup of coffee before shutting down

From there, you need to remove the disk and have an adapter for it to USB or another system DURING ANY DATA RECOVERY, ALWAYS WORK FROM AN IMAGE, NOT THE DRIVE ITSELF (Especially for "iffy" drives (If you know that it is damaged in some way, or you just can't afford it and won't soon, please get with a professional service. With data recovery from potentially damaged drives, you might get one shot to get a good image and it's done for).

Once you have your image, there's a bunch of different recovery software you can use. My personal favorite and go-to is R-Studio. It's well worth the $50, but you can sail the high seas for it as well. But you'll need to take some time to get used to it, it's not...the most user friendly out there lmao.

If you need something user friendly, try Recuva or Disk Drill. Just do NOT waste your money with shovelware like anything made by Wondershare.

  • Don't you dare tease me with a good time!

Seriously tho, props to AMD for not changing the socket every other proc just for shits and giggles to make line go up. Fucking Intel.

  • Cross-pssted as part of ongoing boycotting/protest efforts to reduce the influence of .ml comms because of the behavior of the .ml instance admins to make it an easier decision for other instance admins to defederate.

  • Preposterous! Russia is just trying to bring peace and prosperity to everyone!

You have been banned from Pyongyang .ml

  • By subscriber count, but comm subscriber count is, essentially, worthless. .ml memes has something like 51K subscribers, Lemmy has something like 54K TOTAL monthly active users. There's no way nearly every single MAU is subbed to .ml memes LMAO

And indeed if you look at meme comms on https://lemmyverse.net/communities?order=active_month .ml memes, last I checked was somewhere around #40 (I'm not sure why it's not appearing at all today, maybe it's traffic tankies so hard it fell off the chart completely lmao)

The only remaining big ones, by MAUs, are Linux and Privacy, both of which are going to be toppled by !linux@programming.dev and !privacy@lemmy.dbzer0.com sooner or later.

The time for calling for defederation is now, whatever is left isn't worth the damage they are doing

  • We're a little late on the bell riots, but we're getting there!

  • We're all part of the Fediverse which includes Masto, Pixel, PieFed, Lemmy etc all communicating on the same interoperable ActivityPub protocol

Under that is the "Lemmy-verse/Thrediverse" that is what would be "link aggregator" type social media (eg reddit) and includes PieFed, Lemmy, MBin etc.

While very cool in that it basically ruins the whole notion of centralized Social media, it has its quirks. Like what this meme is about, there's no perfect way to translate a Lemmy reply to a mastodon user or a masto reply to a Lemmy post for a Lemmy user

  • When you quote your link, in its entirety, it's message changes drastically

Additional considerations apply to the use of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL). RFE/RL should be used cautiously, if at all, for reporting published from the 1950s to the early 1970s, when RFE/RL had a documented relationship with the CIA.

RFE/RL may be biased in some subject areas (particularly through omission of relevant, countervailing facts), and in those areas, it should be attributed in the article body. There is no consensus as to what subject areas require attribution. The scope of topics requiring attribution of RFE/RL should be decided on a case-by-case basis.

It hasn't been true for some time now and is generally found to be credible and fairly unbiased and RFA is seen in even a more positive light, from your own link:

Radio Free Asia can be generally considered a reliable source. In particularly geopolitically charged areas, attribution of its point of view and funding by the U.S. government may be appropriate. Per the result of a 2021 RfC, editors have established that there is little reason to think RFA demonstrates some systematic inaccuracy, unreliability, or level of government co-option that precludes its use.
