There are no cake days, this isn’t Reddit. Don’t try to make it Reddit. Let it be it’s own thing.
On Lemmy it is literally called cake day in your profile. Admittedly derivative, but I like cake so whatever.
Cake days were by far reddit's most unproductive and inane tradition, they should've died long ago. I will personally see to it that every person wishing or attempting to wish a happy cake day is verbally harassed until they delete their account.
If I don’t see another “happy cake day” post again it’ll be too soon.

No but seriously, it's not a big deal. It's just an occasional comment about "happy cake day". Kinda hope you're being hyperbolic, but I've seen enough comments like this that I thought it worth replying to anyways.
I legitimately think reddit would be better if everyone who used the phrase "cake day" was permanently IP banned from the service. And hate subs aren't really a reddit tradition, more a general Internet thing, but go off I guess. Also, fuck the S, it's the second most unproductive and inane reddit tradition

Can we all collectively agree to ignore this shit? I always hated cAkE dAy, I had no idea when mine was, but I would log off for the day after the first person said it to me.
At least offer the option to hide it on your profile(do we even have those here?).
Just make an annual donation to Lemmy or charity of choice.
Charity is a great and noble idea, but I also find some real value in people giving me things, so I don't want us to completely rule that out so quickly?

Don't worry about possibly not being the first person to post this thought. I had the same thought when I saw the headline and then thought the same thing as the last line before reading the body. Against my better judgement, I thought I wouldn't be the first to post a comment on this, but I actually am! Nice to know there is a bottom of this hole.
