More like now you get 48 hours to think about how you have to come back and do it all again

Bold of you to assume I only did 40 and that I’ll be allowed “days off”

19 0 ReplyBut it's the best part of your kids' week! Look at how happy they are.
9 0 ReplyI'm not complaining, I love my kids and I really don't think that being with them is the worst part of the week. I'm just very, very tired.

Yes, when you have kids the weekend is actually the worst part of the week!
3 0 ReplyI consider myself very lucky because I have a good relationship with my in-laws so usually if I get really tired for the week and need to unwind on the weekend I just dump the kids at their gramps place and both parties will be happy.
3 0 ReplyI wouldn't say the worst, but definitely the hardest.

Well my boss left for the day so I have my mouse sitting on my jiggler and I’m watching Deep Space Nine on one of my iPads.

Idk how people do it. I've gotten so used to the job I have now where I work 40hrs on the weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday) and I'm off all week. Sometimes the weeks still feel short
15 0 ReplyHow do you work 40 hours in 3 days?
11 0 Reply3 13 hour days....
8 0 ReplyI do 48 hours in 2 days every week. Bit more spread out, but still just 2 days of work.
7 0 Reply8 hours Friday, 2-10. Then 16 hours Saturday Sunday 6am-10pm

Actual productive time is maybe approaching 27-30 hours, tops.
13 0 ReplyWell look at this overachiever.

That's 3-4 days for me tyvm.
Downsides: rotating schedule, 10 hour days occasionally require working 5-6 days in a row pending when people take time off. We set it up so there are overlap on a schedule in the evening though, so you also have to work a abnormal shift ~4 times every two months.
I'd still prefer it over 8x5s. Those long weekends are glorious.
8x4s is what I'll be pressing for when I can.
9 0 Reply3x12s for life 💪 God damn having a three day weekend every week is such a quality of life upgrade

A question for experts on Marxist theory.:
If work wasn't alienated, would people want to work more than 40 hours or be happy when working 40 hours?
Dimensions of alienated labor
8 0 ReplyI'm not an expert, but it seems to me that if the labor isn't alienated, then it becomes less about the hours and more about what's accomplished.
