I've seen this joke twice on the internet today. What's the impetus?

Last year, one of the largest vtubers, Ironmouse, did a charity event to raise money for the Immune Deficiency Foundation. Two days ago, Ironmouse just revealed that the IDF had received none of the $500k charity donations she raised. Apparently someone at the agency she was contracted with had embezzled the money. This has sent the entire vtubing community into an uproar, effectively annihilating the agency overnight, and re-raised $1 million donations for IDF over the span of two days.

Every big names are donating thousands of dollars to the IDF all of the sudden making this situation to be very clickbaitable.
