Right period of my life, if I were in those circumstances, I could have seen myself leaving a few in bathrooms on the way out and not giving a shit who knew it was me as I walked out with my cardboard box. State Dep workers take an oath?

The overseas ones take literally the same oath to uphold and protect the Constition as the President.
Tons of Federal employees take the same oath, but not all. But so do Peace Corps volunteers, members of the military, I think some local or state police, judges, everyone in Congress, most state legislators IIRC, and I'm sure im missing a few others.
