Democratic NYC mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani was defiant against Trump's threats to arrest him if he makes good on a promise to refuse to cooperate with ICE.
Can you do something about it? Because if you can't, Trump won't care about whether you "accept" it at all. As far as he's concerned, he'll just stuff your ass into the first plane heading out to whatever 3rd world country he struck a deal with. The rest is your problem.

Honestly, if ICE just showed up and kidnapped him off the street and "deported" him to some shithole country....what would anyone really do?
I think this would actually trigger real rioting and violence. And that would give the Trump the veneer of legality he needs for Republican support to enact martial law. And that would trigger more rioting and violence spreading beyond NY. It would be a catastrophically stupid move on Trump's part. So probably by end of the month.

So I'm mixed on this. For one, I know it'd be a horribly bad thing if they do do this. It'd be blatantly the wrong thing to do. However, I think we need something to push people over the edge to make them force real change. If the Trump adm. does this, that would have to be a step too far for almost everyone, right? It could actually put us on the path to fixing things.
Obviously, I don't want them to do this, but I'm conflicted because I think it could lead us down a (very perilous) path to fix the nation.
It's going to be hard for future historians to write about our times because there will just be too many sources.

We probably also need other states to plan similar implementations as Mamdani so the wealthy don’t simply pull their businesses elsewhere.
