Don't listen to the lazy slander of Hasan Piker, which is one of two types, either dismissing the incredibly dangerous precedent this sets because they don't like his politics (which is a massive red flag about that person) or they try to slander him as some crazy radical.
Don't listen to these people's words at face value, decide for yourself, if you want to know about what happened listen to Hasan's side before you jump on the lazy hate train other people are honking the horn for in this thread.
At no point did I say I'm dismissing the precedent. The precedent was set months ago, and people are kidding themselves if they're seeing Hasan as the first example of this.
All I'm going to say is how I'm sick of the fact that it takes the bad things to happen to a big name for Americans and people in general to give a shit, and while I do care about this happening to people in general, Hasan? Couldn't care less.
This has been happening for ages now with your average person, and now we're supposed to care about how this happened to Hasan?
checks notes yup says here under basic human decency that actually we are supposed to care about bad things happening to people even when we believe those bad things have happened in the past to other people, glad we cleared that confusion up :)
False alarm, everybody! I have it on good authority from Ji Fu that nothing is getting worse and there's no cause for concern here. This is just any average Tuesday. Thanks, Ji Fu! Really appreciate you looking out for us.
I'm sorry, but he's done more harm than good to how people view left-wing politics online.
This guy has trashed 9-5 job workers labeling their positions as being "easier" than being a streamer, all while he sits, talks, and leaves the room with the video running. He doesn't edit his videos, other people do, and he's on record refusing to pay them.
He decided to become a leading left-wing voice, and in being a massive hypocrite, has likely pushed people away from left-wing politics to be picked up by right-wing freaks who rightfully call him out. He's on the record taking Russia's side for invading Ukraine both in 2022 and 2014, has defended the Kai Cenat riot calling anybody who criticised him or the rioters racist, and many other such comments. I'm supposed to feel sorry for someone who likely contributed to people moving to the right, translating to more Republican votes, while under the guise as a left-wing figurehead? Yeah, no.
This just in, people need to accept hypocrisy rather than call it out in order to be seen as left-wing.
God man, people really think that not rooting out the bad apples is going to help left-wing politics. That's how you end up with Jimmy Dore being an anti-vax pro-Trumper and Ana Kasparian being a transphobe.
Nobody edits multiple videos for a name as big as Hasan voluntarily, and if they do, good for them. With common sense this should have been interpreted as paid work.
I dunno. I watch Vaush, I watch Hasan. I watch Sam Seder. Please don't kill me but I watch some of PirateSoftware too (yes I know how much Lemmy hates him).
I'm not gonna defend their views, I can't/won't. I generally wanna hear their takes from their perspectives (as flawed as they could be).
I also don't see that even if I disagree with their views that I'd want to say negative things about them being detained as I don't think any of them have asked for it? Like, I'd be cheering if Joe Rogan got detained and bullied. The reason being he endorsed this type of stuff so it's sweet watching someone get a taste of their own medicine.
lol, Twitch dude. Ex-Blizzard, Indie dev, ferret dude. You may know something about him even if you don't think you do ... his dad was the South Park WoW episode antagonist killing all those players. I think his dad was a cinematic dude and they liked him and put him in as that guy.
He's made statements I've definitely disagreed with about preserving games and apparently questionable behaviour with playing WoW. There's been a lot of controversy where he's made a reply video with all the drama. I'm not gonna lie, I watched a few points and I didn't really know or care about a lot of it so stopped a quarter of the way in.
I think anyone that doesn't like him because of what he's done is right to do so ... I'll just still catch him every now and again. I mean if I find out he supports genocide or the Trump admin I'll change my mind.
