People of Dickson had an opportunity to do the funniest thing of all term and they took it.
You bloody rippers you <3
On Sky, Andrew Bolt just blamed Elon Musk for Peter Dutton not winning on Donald Trump's platform.
I just can't....
Omg, that's fucking hilarious!
"I won't mention pre-poll because people ARE drinking when I say 'pre poll'"
Fucking LOL
Im so fucking drunk
This was my favourite part of tonight hahaha
I was wearing a Nazi uniform in a private Facebook post and it’s the media’s fault that the voting public found out about it. - Jacinta Price
That was some of the most twisted logic I'd ever heard.
I was wearing the hat as a joke, and four words have no meaning, but you need to take me seriously!
WAT?
She makes me sick.
She really has no self-awareness, does she? https://live.australiainstitute.org.au/2025/05/australia-institute-live-election-2025-results/#a87d1a79e7
Dutton was poison and deeply unpopular already in the Scomo years. Looks like people didn't forget. I'm starting to feel some landslide vibes here early on.
Sink LNP. Bring up some socialists
Pretty big swing against him in Dickson right now. He might lose his own seat.
Did Jacinta just seriously waffle out an implied allegation that the AEC is corrupt? That's fucking insane.
Had me raising my eyebrows too.
Oh shit wtf did she say?
Feels pretty accurate
First screen malfunction 20 mins in. Drink!
It was the very first reveal of results!
I'd say it's worthy of a double, but I reckon we need some restraint this early on.
Yeah honestly we couldn't ask for a more classic start.
A solid concession speech. Can't imagine such a speech coming from any of the Liberal party's leaders over the last decade.
Jeez, remember Malcolm Turnbull having a drunken tantrum on election night and threatening to send the AFP after the Labor party... That was his ACCEPTANCE speech.
Agreed. I'm not a fan of Dutton but his concession speech was mainly truth and from the heart. At least he's somewhat graceful in defeat.
Some senator on abc called himself a reagan republican. The man should be arrested for treason.
I implore you, as an American who has witnessed the generational devastation that has resulted from the Reagan presidency, throw anyone who says that into the middle of the fucking Pacific.
Mcgrath said that.
That was actually pretty wild for his side of politics to go that far in these times. His side of politics are fully dominated by MAGA-esque types.
He went further than what you say even, he identified himself with the Neo-libs (Reagan), and the Neo-Cons (Bush), pretty sure he even mentioned Nixon, but i can't remember now.
Basically he identified himself with everyone from his side of Politics except the current ruling international faction, what i'll call the Dickwads International Klan, or D.I.K.
Im glad im not the only one who noticed, very dissappointed that the panel ignored it. I thought him identifying himself as an american agent was a big fucking deal and it should have been highlighted and linked to the ass kicking.
I feel sorry for Dutton's kids. They only have a choice of one out of eight properies each...
Very tough going
"Let's wait for the pre-poll" has to be on the bingo card next time.
Can replace "too close to call"
Going to have to scull my drink to catch-up.
On the one hand, a bit disappointed that the Greens haven't done amazingly on results so far. But I have a huge sense of relief that Dutton and the Coalition have been soundly rejected.
Haven't seen senate results yet. Greens may be the 'keep the bastards honest' choice there
Yeah it's a shame. Might be better overall for the quality of aus politics in the long run but labour has been extremely shit in some regards.
Hoping that the Senate will force some progress and the improved confidence of labor will lead to more bold policy but we shall see.
Sky News panel all dreading that call from Rupert.
"What the FUCK did you just let happen? Was I not clear after Canada?"
No mate, you aligned with trump and people can see that the ideology is poison. It's not the "TRUMP FACTOR" if you're wearing maga hats, talking about woke in school, and doing an Australian doge. That's you having dogshit politics.
Eat shit, Dutton. What a shit campaign those idiots ran
ABC, you are wasting your time asking policy questions...
The LNP doesn't know. And it's an inappropriate time to say anyways
Antony Green was right.
Look at what's going on with the TAS vote when it gets to 5%, and you have your winner lol
Omg. The lamb and bee in the background. Lambie!
Missed that. Gold! 🪙
I wonder how Gina is handling the news tonight
Fuck yeah. Looks like Dickson has fallen.
46% of the vote counted and Labor candidate in the lead on 57%
Man by the way they go on you'd think the greens had been in government.
Just jealous because you're total babes.
All the running from the cops after vandalising signage keeps us fit and trim
Dutton behind in early count!
Oh no! Anyways...
I'm so relieved.
cLiMaTe 2o0 & TeAlS StOp uS fRoM WiNnInG!
Not your climate policies?
They're wedged, wedged. They are competing against everyone, unlike uh everyone else who famously get on.
I wonder how many independents will get up? Maybe 15 or so?
(´。• ω •。`)
With the size of this win, ALP could have another 9 years if they govern for the people
I think the planets kind of aligned for Labor in a way they're unlikely to again.
I'll take the win this time and hope for the best in three years.
There's plenty of time for Rupert and the drop-kicks at the IPA to come up with a new strategy. Dunno if they will ever come up with anything as successful as they did in 2013, though
Well that's the challenge right?
On Sky, Andrew Bolt just said if Dutton loses, LNP has no candidate worthy of leader 🤣
I think, or more hope, Sky propagandists are as usual wrong.
I think there might be some strong Liberals that could come right into the foreground.
Now that the 2010's crowd are finally getting shoved to the side, the Liberals might have enough clear air, or a clean enough slate, to reinvent and renew themselves to be more representative of the direction and attitudes of the country today.
Problem they've had since Abbott, has been this idea they've loosely held of a natural line of succession. That Turnbull had to have his turn, Dutton the same, Friedenberg was also expected to have a turn as Party leader along the same vein. Morrison was definitely the wild card in that though.
A Member i'll be watching is Andrew Hastie, he seems a good operator, shit opinions on the world, but competence is important, especially in a time for rebuilding a Party, which the Libs obviously need to do.
Call it, Antony!
Go out with a bang!
He just said LNP can't win
If Antony's computer is down for the rest of the night, does that count as one drink, or do we need to drink each time they cross to him?
Asking for a friend. My poor liver.
I think every crossing.
I'm gonna have to switch to Sky in about 3 more crosses 🤣
James McGrath being an absolute shining example of why people’s opinions of politicians is lower than dirt.
Never thought thinking about Dickson would make me feel a certain something.
Wo.en problem. Drink.
The final horcrux has been destroyed.
Duttons concession was shit.
"Labor lied about us so the voters got it wrong"
I only heard a small snippet of Dutton's concession that the ABC played while I was driving home near midnight. It was focused on Dickson rather than the prime ministership. But that part of it, at least, was really good IMO. Explicitly saying your opponent will be good, the really heartfelt personal touch about her son. I was impressed. Honestly if the person who delivered that speech was the same person who ran the campaign (and has been a powerful player in politics for more than the last decade), he may have won.
But of course, that man would have had an entirely different political trajectory, so who's to say. Considerate people don't exactly excel in the LNP.
Clive Palmer on the 7 panel claiming victory tells you everything you need to know about Channel 7
Clive Palmer on the 7 panel claiming victory tells you everything you need to know about Channel 7
No-one booed.
When Dutton blamed himself for the loss no-one booed. Every other concession speech I can remember in my way too many years. The losing party faithful boo when the leader blames themselves.
Price got a much colder reception than on Sky, lol.
That big dick Dickson swing baby!
Love to see it
Every former prime minister had a lot of great things to say about Antony Green except Morrison who used a lot of words to say absolutely nothing.
He said Antony was a professional 3 times. I knew a guy who was a church minister and he talked a lot, but never really said much because he said everything 3 times. I think they teach them that at church... Tell them what you will say, tell it to them and then tell them what you just said.
Scotty from marketing, a whole lotta words, not much substance.
Haha, yeah! It's actually a little depressing to be reminded of his severe lack of leadership qualities.
Regardless of what I think of their policies, every other prime minister has had the leadership skills expected of the role they filled... Except Scotty who was nothing more than an incurious robot masquerading as a daggy dad.
C'mon DICKSON!
"nice try James" go get him Sabrah
Sarah is a champ!
Those nasty nasty greens. Lol
Preferences one nation
WHY ARE PEOPLE CALLING US RACISTS?
Old mate is goin in on them!
Some of the ABC commentators sound like they can't finish their sentences because they are full on having an orgasm lol
Greens not looking too hot.
What do you mean, we're all total babes.
I knew sfa about their seats in QLD, but potentially losing 3 to Labor surprised me
YouTube ABC News link for those not watching on TV: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOTiJkg1voo
LNP narrative already kicking in.
"Not like Trump"
"Bad news everywhere [for the LNP]" - Antony Green
Over already. There goes my plans for the evening!
Antony is back!! Turned it off and on again!
9 news just officially called it for Labor
Pre-poll votes have become LNP copium.
Hey, also, thanks for the post!
No problemo
Wow Labor almost got a clean sweep in tas.
Is that a reaction to State level politics?
Or do they just hate the Federal Libs?
Did Anything Green just call Futton, Peter Dickhead?
I heard it too.
Peat a dick -- Peter Dutton
Yes, i saw it and it will never be denied
Oh good! Antony had his computer working again
It’s just pure brain worms on Sky News. I couldn’t watch for more than 5 minutes
Schadenfreude is delicious
But it is very rich, and can be sickening
Christopher Pyne saying this might be worst result since party creation with less than a third of all seats.
All these candidates in black like they're attending a funeral....
Glorious mullet just behind Bandt tho
Mmmm. Roasted potato.
Yoo, nice result. Shout outs from Canada.
If the ex-ABC presenter in Franklin wins the seat off the ALP candidate, will the LNP become pro ABC?
ABC no longer the hate media, you heard it here first.
James is mad.
To be fair, I wouldn't enjoy being him over the next hour.
There's really nothing that he can possibly say at this time other than "Lets wait for more votes to come in."
Jim is starting to look smug. I would too.
Furious too
"Solid"
No graphics! Drink!
Huff the copium my boy. Huff
Yeah he's sweating
Ooh. Computer problem! DRIIIINK!
Dutton is hiding! What a coward!
This long after sundown too, usually he's hungry.
Expecto Patronum!
Okay I'm gonna watch some Black Mirror soon. This potato is cooked.
Thanks everyone! Short and sweet.
Congrats on taking care of your garbage.
I'm abso-fucking-lutely stoked at this result...
... but how have they called it already with only 2 seats declared ?
Maths and statistics
Sure but wouldn't those same maths and statistics allow electorates to be called?
I think maybe the ABC's website coverage is stuck.
Fake maths and statistics and science and facts!
Did this new ABC guy white ant Antony Green?
I'm so pissed off for Antony!
Briggs? I tuned in late, what happened?
Edit: Read a couple more comments, computer said no, was it?
As a Perthlet, I'm pretty happy overall. Only real disappointment is Canning; would have thought it's within Labor's grasp but currently looks like a 5% swing against Labor, even after sitting MP Andrew Hastie said we should give our mineral stockpiles to Trump to stop the tarriffs. Any Mandurah locals have some insight into the sentiment - is it the Keep The Sheep campaign maybe?
Actually, now that I dig deeper, I see that Canning has an 8% swing to One Nation, dayum...
Its definitely gona be Keep the Sheep for part of it. I'm surprised it wasn't more of an issue in the end.
A friend, (not a farmer), at the start of the WA election campaign was getting hot under the collar about Labor's live export ban. I said to him, "this is a minority issue, its hardly going to touch the sides in terms of political issues."
I stand by that comment, but man, they're a noisy bloody minority! They certainly made me feel i's gona have to eat my words.
Here in Albany those fucking keep the sheep signs are everywhere, a noisy minority indeed.
Personally I'm not sympathetic. Farmers just have a lot of tax concessions. It's been plain to see for years that live export was going to stop sooner or later. If you were exposed to that risk, well, you should have taken action to manage it.
Durack has a 7% swing away from Labor (against the trend of the whole state), I think it's safe to say that Keep The Sheep was successful in regional areas. However it doesn't seem to have had much effect in the metro, aside from Canning if you include that.
I feel a bit sorry for the LNP guy on the ABC panel.
I think they should allow a tag team, and switch in somebody fresh
Tasmania went all liberal last time due to pokies or something right? Seems like things are swinging back now in a big way.
PollBludger calling Dickson for Labor.
Screen still down! Drink!
Lol snip
"Lets just wait for the numbers to come in"
Yeah fuck off James. No one likes a sore loser.
So happy with the result this election. Hopefully a sign of elections to come!
I like that they are showing appropriate respect talking about Peter Dutton picking up a seat.
He may not even hold his own.
Sky officially called it as well.
Screen still down. Lol
Pen and paper like the good old times.
As someone watching from the other side of the world - is this another election victory that can be chalked up to Trump?
I think Trump was a contribution. The conservative opposition were leading the polls but lost their mojo in the last couple of months
Our progressive party probably would have creaked through to a minority victory but this is a historic victory and we have brutalised the conservatives, and that's due to Trump.
Looking at the Wikipedia page of election polling over time, just like Canada, there is a strong clear drop after the US inauguration.
Thesis please
Sky has crossed to Tony Abbott
The beams have crossed and Albo lost
Yeah Jim, look for some corn while you're up there!
Did she say chemical Ali?
Release the Kraken (the pre-poll votes)
I'll be interested to see who pops up to position themselves as the leader of whoever loses...
Sky are just cutting down Dutton like he's a zombie lol
One of the dumb, slow moving ones.
Well, it's the biggest thumping we've seen in a long while and it's on him.
Godam, don't you clowns jinx Antony's last call!
And there the ABC call is.
Oh wow! Tony Abbot on sky news showing us all that he belongs in the bin. Lol
They're really terrible at losing.
It kinda sounds like he's saying that voters have made the wrong choice, and that more of the same from LNP next time round will win government for them.
Okay results starting to flow now.
Some big swings early as well
Yeah things are looking pretty good actually. Goodbye boomers.
CUT OFF
Jeebus, calm down ABC. It's 5% counted.
Good news, apparently Australia does not like politicians who align themselves with fascists
Bad news, not a minority government
